This university acknowledged my unaccompanied homelessness and that my apartment styled dorm was the only space preventing me from being on the streets. Yet the residence life office, despite being one of the two offices that verified my homelessness, still demanded I declutter the space in a short timeframe, and they sided with my apartment mate who not only called the RA and staff on me just for crying in my room, but he also later yelled at me directly and ragequit because I was crying. Said office also referred me to student conduct instead of helping me with basic needs. The financial aid office interviewed me about my homelessness and yet still demanded third party documentation I couldn’t get, and even suggested I take out a private loan to cover the balance. I am so sad and disappointed that I have to drop out for the sake of my safety. If this university claims it’s inclusive and diverse, my experience was anything but that. It was a very traumatizing experience that left me heartbroken and shattered. If you are a nontraditional student in any form, please RUN FAR away from the dorms at this university. And if your a nontraditional student under 24, don’t bother with this school until the FAFSA automatically considers you independent at age 24.
Rutgers University does not care about its students, at the very least it does not care about its black or queer students. Mortimer Wortman went missing on November 21st and the university waited almost a week to take any action or release a statement because they were too busy promoting their Black Friday merchandise and deleting comments from people asking them to take action. Once they did finally release a statement, they directed people to the Jackson NJ PD who is NOT handling Mortimer's case, the Ocean County sheriff's office is. And on top of all of that, they couldn't even get his name right in their statement sent to students. Their priority is money, not the welfare of the community they claim to protect.
Rutgers does not seem to care about finding Mortimer Wortman, a missing student who goes to Rutgers University. They have not acknowledged or made an effort to help find Morty and only made a comment after deleting comments from their students. Before attending this school, just know if you go missing, it's up to your family to find you.
This college is a total disaster. The campus is falling apart, everything is disorganized, and no one seems to care about the students. One professor even said they “don’t get paid enough to lie,”
and that the school “doesn’t care about us.”It’s a waste of time, money, and energy. If you’re thinking about coming here, do yourself a favor and don’t.
Basic hotel that must have once been a student dormitory. Rooms are basic, but have the usual amenities. AC iinstalled recently, and you could order food delivery from a DoorDash. Inexpensive, private parking and on Rutgers New Brunswick campus.
The education you get here will be pretty damn good, and I love the flexibility of being admitted by school, not major. That being said the quality of life on campus has to be the worst experience you will get anywhere. I guess it builds character and makes you more resilient, but man will you be miserable. There is a reason the term RUscrew is so popular.
Rutgers does not care about any of its students.
1. Exams make up 90% of most classes here and make it hard for everyone. The average grade for these classes for most students is a C or C+.
2. The office of student conduct charged me for something I didn’t do. I was given a suspension for something that I was not involved with.

What a vibrant place! Rutgers-New Brunswick boasts a beautiful, sprawling campus that's full of energy. There are tons of activities happening all the time, making it easy to get involved and meet people. It's also a very well-regarded institution, offering excellent academics. Highly recommend experiencing Rutgers!
No guidance, they charge you for everything like Vegas, some of the professors really should not be teaching and wasting parents money. Many of the classes are not relevant to what you actually need to get a job. The dorms are not worth the money you pay for them.
It is a good school to get a decent quality bachelor's degree while not becoming a lifelong slave to the loan system ( especially if you live in New Jersey). But, this is virtually the end of it. Heavy uncaring bureaucracy and "don't bother us" administration are ridiculous. If you don't care about it, like I did, you will do OK. I came, got my classes and my diploma and this is the gist of it - I am doing my Masters and PhD elsewhere. The end!!

Rutgers itself was fine. But Newark, NJ? Unless crack and hookers are your thing…it’s a filthy, unsafe armpit that I couldn’t wait to be out of. I wouldn’t let my children go to school there on a full academic scholarship.
It is a very beautiful campus. The meeting rooms have been spacious and the event volunteers incredibly helpful. I don't know how the school life is, but the classrooms seem well designed and relatively up to date. Also there's good wifi access everywhere on campus
Worst facilities management. I live on campus, and complained about the odor, someone from facilities team came and show no respect, but just talk loudly and questioning everything and do not even let me finish a sentence.
Going for a PhD? Good! But never live on campus, you will just see bureaucratism and passing the buck.
There are a lot of opportunities for all students and a place for everyone to fit in and make friends! There is a great balance between academics and the social scene. Rutgers also provides students with countless quiet areas to study and get work done. If you are looking for a school where you can get a great education, while still having the fun college experience than Rutgers is very good choice and I would recommend it to anyone.
Rutgers NB houses the oldest Queens College campus. It has 3 campuses in close proximity. Building style ranges from old Victorian to modern glass. Kirkpatrick Chapel, the Gothic Revival chapel on Old Queen’s campus, is another type that can be found. It’s a pretty open campus but if you're close by, you might want to check out Princeton. The architecture will take your breath away!
The best university in New Jersey and one the top public institutions in country. So big that there are 5 different campuses in the New Brunswick/Piscataway. A lot of great days on College Ave and Douglass and there is bus service to each part of campus which offers different things according to interests. Loved the football stadium as well
Rutgers offers an excellent learning environment to its students. However, I found that the campus has some flaws. For instance, some parts of the campus are unkempt and could use some tidying up. Nonetheless, I am fond of the wide variety of areas open to both students and locals—nice chains, restaurants, and stores (among many more)! Overall, it is a great public university for students hailing from New Jersey.
We visited this campus when school was out so it was mostly quiet and finding street parking was easy. The buildings are a mix of old and new, and they all seem well maintained. We walked around for close to two hours.
Rutgers is a school of opportunity. Located in a large city (and just a hop skip to New York City) opportunities abound. Both academic and research opportunities are diverse and available for those interested in attending a large university.
The school has several campuses each with their own flavor. The buses, while difficult to understand the first week of school, come easily with time as you traverse New Brunswick.
Hands-down the best bang for your buck if you were in New Jersey state resident or not.
Being a Big 10 school also brings in multiple opportunities for athletics if that’s your interest.
This university has its own food pantry for students in need as well as being in close proximity to level one trauma hospitals in case you ever need care.
My daughter graduated this year with tremendous life experience, an incredible education, and opportunity to be a D1 athlete, and found an incredible job that landed her in Manhattan with a sizable income that allowed her to live by herself in a one bedroom apartment. She is living her best life as a result of her time at Rutgers. No regrets at all.
There is so much flavor that comes with being a member of the school. Definitely a 10 out of 10.
I graduated at May 2020, I am ao grateful that RU gives me a complete 4 year memory! So many good memories. RU gave me everything, research, internship, job and my best friends (like family). I am international student, this is my second home. I love you RU!
For 4 years Rutgers was our home, and the center of our family life. Our eldest children grew up here and the youngest was born. It was a wonderful life experience as a family, as people and students. Life at Johnson apartments was happy, with difficult moments of adaptation but definitely a great challenge. Being a family programmer on campus was an amazing experience where we enjoyed many moments with families from all over the world.Thanks Rutgers for those years!!
Enjoyed my time as an undergrad! Definitely sets you up for success after graduation if you take the initiative and explore what Rutgers has to offer. It is a huge school, but you can still have a personal connection with professors if you put in the effort.
