Avoid S & P Auto at All Costs – Predatory Pricing and Terrible Customer Service
If I could give zero stars, I would. My daughter’s car was towed a mere 7.2 miles from New London, NH to S & P Auto in Andover on a Saturday. When a friend attempted to retrieve the vehicle, they were told it would cost $800 to release it. Yes, you read that right—$800 for a short tow and two days of storage.
When I called to get an explanation of the charges, I was met with a dismissive attitude and told, “We deal with the insurance company, not the customer.” I explained that we weren’t planning to go through insurance—and that’s when they hit me with the breakdown: a tow charge, a mysterious “labor” charge (which couldn’t be clearly explained), and daily holding fees. When I asked what the “labor” charge was for—wasn’t that part of the tow fee?—the person on the phone simply said it was “for the driver.”
To add insult to injury, she told me, “If you hadn’t been in an accident, you wouldn’t be in this predicament.” Completely unprofessional and utterly tone-deaf.
In the end, I had no choice but to involve my insurance company. Even they were shocked—my representative said they don’t see these kinds of inflated fees in Boston or New York, let alone rural New Hampshire. This is nothing short of price gouging, and it’s clear that S & P Auto is more interested in squeezing every possible dollar out of a situation than in offering fair, honest service.
Make no mistake—this isn’t just about the insurance company footing the bill. Predatory pricing like this eventually affects the customer through higher premiums. Companies like S & P Auto don’t care about that. They’re out to take advantage of people in stressful situations.
Terrible service. Outrageous pricing. Avoid this business at all costs.
These guys where rude and contemptuous. I went in there to drop a truck off and they obviously didn't give a damn about me or my business. The only answer i got from them was a stupid look and "I don't know what you want me to do about it". I ended up leaving and going to walker auto in wilmot. I wouldn't recommend s&p to anyone.
Whether a routine appointment or an auto emergency, S&P always handles our vehicles with professionalism. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We trust all of our vehicles with S&P.

I called at noon on a friday to get my new trailer tires mounted to some steel wheels. S&P had it done within 2 hours! Great service will use them again when i am in the area. thanks so much.

I went to S&P Auto in a pinch and had never used them before. My tire was flat and I was in between picking up my kids from school. They were informative, kind, and extremely generous. They were able to get me right in and were very fast acting. I would use them again, in a pinch or not!
What a Great company ! Broke down in Sunapee NH and was fortunate that the Local PD got these guys to tow my vehicle on a Sun all the way to Ma. for a very very fair and reasonable price . Offered to go out of the way to give me a ride home after dropping my vehicle off at the shop . Scott the owner was a very professional
Had an inspection here (unfortunately) for the first time. I don’t believe that there was anything wrong with my break lights but they supposedly replaced them. I was also charged a dollar for “trash removal”. Charges to throw out old bulbs? Wow, thanks. Assuming they even fixed anything, it’s a pretty ridiculous thing to charge for—and I don’t know that they even did any work. Even if they did it was probably unnecessary to change the break lights. I didn’t get to talk to the mechanic(s) to inquire further, just the secretary who was unhelpful.
Stay far away from here, these people are eager to not only lie but basically steal from you especially if they don’t see you as a recurring customer they want to keep.
I tried to pre-pay for snow tires for my daughter for Christmas. Scott, the owner, said he wouldn’t accept payment in advance. I asked if he was sure and he said it was ‘bad karma’. What?? He was so rude and disrespectful. Too weird for me. I called Walker’s and asked them if I could pre-pay for tires and they said Sure!
I have been here twice and can't say enough good things. Both stops here were same day drop off with no appointments. Fixed me up right quick and fast. Thank you S&P!
Dropped off last Tuesday to get some minor repairs done, called on Friday and they said it was just about done and needed one quick thing and could probably be done by the end of the day. Called again on Monday come to find out they are closed ALL WEEK. So now I can’t even pick it up until next week are you kidding me! Why would you not let me know that and what shop is closed for entire week for 4th of July. Definitely will not be returning or recommending this place to anyone.
