Bought a transmission here for a 2013 chevy impala and they said it was functioning transmission. After installing it in my car the reverse was out. Not happy at all and will never buy from this place again. Nothing like blowing $650.
I called and was quoted and told if I came in they would do it then drover over 30 minutes for then to tell me id have to come back tomorrow. Not worth it.
Do not buy from here as they overcharge and are perfectly willing to lie and cheat there way to a sale. I am form ND and initially called looking for a specific vehicle. I told the guy on the phone what i was looking for and was very specific about what condition I wanted everything in. I later asked them if they could send me some pictures of the truck so i could see if it fit what i needed and was looking for and they sent the first 4 pictures were the truck looks nice and has everything attached. After renting a trailer and driving 5 hours I go to look at the truck and it is half torn apart with tons of parts missing wiring cut rust dents and looks like crap. And they expected me to give them a 1000 for it. I asked what the lowest they could do was after bringing up the condition and they said 750. The guy up front even tried to claim he told me about the condition it was in. If i had been told i would not have driven 5 hours with the intent to buy it. I ended up walking out. They wasted at least 400 to 500 of my money to rent a trailer and get there only to find the truck isnt what was advertised to me. Attached also are pictures of the trucks condition when i arrived.
The guys at A1 Johnson's did me a solid and charged me less than a quarter of me because I was broke thank you very much for your kind gesture it really helped out
The guy that answers the phone is very rude and unprofessional. Giving two stars because I did interact with someone else there one day who was pleasant and helpful, got me what I needed and didn't charge me $20 to go get it.
The old obese white haired balding gentleman that holds the desk up is a real piece of work. You can buy parts online at Walmart for what he is charging people. This place is really a rip off the the amount of money they charge people. Get it shipped to your house for less. That’s taking advantage of people. And I’m not here for it.
Love this place the gentleman that work here dont look at me any different being a woman an going to the yard to pull my own parts an they don't try to over price me thinking I'm ignorant to the price of parts they are better then fair about prices, very reasonable an if I have an issue or need help they are always willing to help.
They have just about everything From Honda all the way up to BMW. They have a very friendly staff and they give you a great deal on automotive parts. I would recommend A1 Johnson For anybody looking for cheap used auto parts. On a budget.
Employees are rude! Here’s an idea…If ya don’t like your job and it makes you that unhappy, instead of treating your customers like garbage, go find a new one! There’s lots of business’s hiring right now!

Called to find a part for my Ford. Gene called back within 45 minutes with a YES! I went out to confirm the correct part, Gene drove me out to the part, pulled it out right there, and we drove back . I was @ A-1 Johnson in less than 10 minutes with the right part in my hand. Excellent service and on time delivery!
I'm only giving them four stars because they are definitely overcharging for stuff. Parts that I go pull off and do the work they're just barely below brand new price come on guys I can understand if you went and pulled them off,

I very rarely feel the need to write reviews like this, but I need to communicate my initial experience to the unassuming onlooker.
Although A-1 has an exceptionally large inventory, the end did not justify the means. The front desk employee was unprofessional with me the moment I walked through the door. He ignored me until I addressed him and appeared annoyed that I had done so. I asked him to explain the process of getting materials because in my experience, it’s different from scarp yard to scrap yard. Some do not want people on property and prefer to get the materials for the customer. Some are like A-1, and have no problem letting people get what they need themselves. I always ask because it’s better to do that than getting attacked by dogs or having the police called on you. My impression was that the employee did not feel like he should have to explain that to me, thus validating his annoyance. I asked him this question and his response was not at all appropriate. I concluded I didn’t want to exchange with this business because of this interaction.
My experience today (8/5/22) was the least professional interaction I have had in any business in Billings to date. As a recommendation, I recommend A-1 for their voluminous inventory. However, my recommendation is biased by the previously mentioned employee. For you the reader, if you cannot tolerate disrespect and unprofessionalism, I advise that you steer clear of this business.
They have a lot of wrecked cars for all kinds of parts! The employees are very nice and very knowledgeable about what they have available. You can pull your own parts or they can pull them for you with several days notice. Great place!!!!!
I've always had a positive outcome when coming here. They may not have what you are looking for but 99.9% of the time they do. You gotta get a little dirty and probably want to bring some tools along to get the part(s) that you need but the prices are very reasonable. Cheapest that I know of.
I've been going to A-1 Johnson's for 26 years and they have been consistently kind, courteous, and helpful for that entire time. If you need help keeping your vehicle running with affordable used parts, they are among the best I've dealt with anywhere in the country. And most of the folks working there have been there since my first visit. That kind of retention is no accident.
I wish i can post 10 stars. Amazing I full recomend bought 2 sun visors for my Honda and exellent customer service

The selection is AMAZING but the guy behind the counter was very rude. He had a very bad attitude and acted like I was not welcome. I am a customer, a first time customer at that. I dont expect to go back to that place. It's too bad because they really have ALOT of cars and trucks to pick from. It's a junk yard, I get it. But at least hire someone that can put on a smile and be polite to the customers.
At first I thought they were great, they had the alternator I needed and at a good price. Unfortunately that alternator didn’t even last a whole four months of me just driving back and forth to work. They refused to do anything to work with me on it and were pretty rude, almost acted like it was my fault for asking. I get that these are used parts, but when I buy a product I expect it to last me more than a few months! Especially a part like an alternator which isn’t getting a whole lot of wear and tear. I’ll get my parts from somewhere who will actually guarantee they work from now on.
Awesome layout, I ALWAYS LOVE going!! I need to go now (but even if I just got back from going I would still want/need to go back)! Fair, straight-up people, pricing, & service that don't judge you whether your male or female jumping out of a truck or getting out of an import.
