Majority of the employees don’t know the difference between cast/forged or different metals. Essentially losing money being paid to the recyclers. When weighing the buckets full of various metals. They try to take 5 lbs off for tare weight, I made them weigh my buckets each time and get treated poorly from this as the buckets were just under 3 lbs. A two pound difference adds up when you recycle stainless, brass, and other materials. Not impressed by the lack of professionalism. Do better!
They no longer sell scrap metal for personal use. Liked getting misc pieces when needed instead of going to hardware store for couple of oddball pieces.
With the drive-thru it has, makes it easier on my back when I have aluminum cans to recycle. I know I have more in my storage unit that I need to recycle.
.
they had a round about way of doing things in the back, i suppose in a city things just kind of go fast, it threw me off, i thought i had a few different values of copper but i really didn't, clean doesn't necessarily mean #1 ( looked it up online to confirm),. i never seen them empty my buckets, or deduct the weight of the buckets, i never got my buckets back but they did give me some of the buckets sitting around, after i asked,(assuming that they probably deduct the typical weight of a bucket) i think that they only gave me .95 cents a pound for one of my buckets of electric motor wire (a loss of $40), sold as armature wire, i couldn't prove they did it on purpose, and didn't notice till i was long gone.. some red tinted motor wire is aluminum but i know that mine was copper, when things are not done in a fashion that looks right to my mind it throws me off, over all things came out close to what i was expecting to get price wise, and over all they seem to be a decent scrap yard, i still know that next time i am going to try a different scrap yard. They do offer some of the best prices for scrap around Billings MT. even still i will likely try out some of the other places around before i go back.
Very bad place to take your scrap too they like to lie and steel from there customers. Just because they get a little busy. I say don't take your stuff there. Go to pacific steel there better. Trust me
