Disrespectful condescending grumpy elderly worker. 615pm today Friday Aug 8. Noone was in booth so I went through. When leaving , this employee put himself in front of my car. My autistic son was in car and it was extremely unnecessary and uncalled for. This was our first time. He asked over and over again insinuating that I was stupid and would not take my apology or explanation he leaned into my car at face level." Why didnt you stop-' there is a sign didnt you read the sign" A younger worker came up asked him to leave and she said" Thats enough" . He then retreated. She scanned my ID and said thank you and had us on our way. He should be fired. Unbelievable.
The site was fine.
Don’t make a mistake though…. The grumpy staff will lay into you. Apparently, every day is a bad day for those two guys. Jeepers.

Doubling down. The hours say 7pm and the same rude guy decided to closed shop at 6:57. He didn’t allow multiple cars to drop off that were there on time.
To boot, he’s a total jerk about it.
Easy approachable staff. Organized, in their own way, which is not a bad thing as it works. Mulch and dirt at a very low price. Recycling yard waste is as easy as drive in, dump and drive away. Huge ground, so can handle lots of recyclers at the same time. Designated areas for everything. Don’t forget to bring your ID.

Went for mulch. Great price! The tractor driver was very careful loading into my truck bed. It was one of the hottest days of the summer! Super professional.
The website online says they’re open till 7 o’clock I showed up at 10 minutes after six and was told By an employee that the boss man had told him that they were not allowed to load any more materials for the rest of their shift. I needed one scoop of compost in my small utility trailer that we drove from Columbia Heights with. I asked if they could make an exception. I explained that they did not describe any stipulations like that on their website he told me he’s not the boss and rules are rules. I have been doing business for over 30 years with this facility. I may be looking for a new compost and tree dump somebody who’s willing to take my money until they close their gates at the time that they list on their website.
I visit this site multiple times every year. This is a great resource for the community. Everyone there is always friendly and helpful. The area is well organized and maintained.
They are great go there 2 or 3 times a day for my job they are fair in price freindley in everywhich way and just good people a 1 tree service thanks you
Usually, they are pretty professional and without issues of any kind. However, (for two days straight) I haven’t been able to get anyone to answer the phone. If the business is closed, then update the website.
Anyone that doesnt give this place 5 stars is just petty and unprepared. Always nice people. If you cant get there on time or follow guidelines, it's you fault, not theirs.
It was shortly before 5pm when we arrived to dump at least 30 bags of leaves that we had just loaded onto my husband’s work truck. We came because the website stated the compost was open until 7pm. Gate was in the process of being closed and there were 2-3 other trucks there needing to unload as well and we were told they close 15 minutes prior to sunset in Oct and Nov. No where on the website was that mentioned. They were all still working. Someone even answered the phone upon calling. Sad that instead of being considerate and letting us unload, they chose to be lazy (we do the unloading) when this is an error on their end.
The sign at the front gate states that the site is open until 7PM with an asterisk after it. The asterisk denotes that the site closes 15 minutes before sunset. I showed up at 7:30, well before sunset, and the site is closed. Very displeased. If the site does indeed close at 7PM, remove the part that states the site closes 15 minutes before sunset. This is worded extremely poorly.
I'm not quite sure why there so many negative reviews, because I think the staff is extremely friendly. Granted, we are only utilizing the composting services, but they are always very friendly when we get our bag refills and I think it is wonderful that Anoka County offers a service like this. We have reduced our trash output to only one bag per week for a family of four, as 75% of our waste was compostable. I only wish more people would choose to compost, when they provide all the materials and a dump site for free!
It would be great if Anoka would open up the hours to accommodate the majority of the tax payers who work a 9-5 job and owns a home. But no, let's just keep it open so we have a line of people rushing in on the weekdays right before close and have a crowd on the weekends.
Very quick! Got here a little before 12 on a Sunday and dreaded seeing the long line in front of us. Got in and out within 15 mins of the place opening. Great service - we went to drop off old mulch.
Anoka county residents get to dump grass clippings and leaves here for free with valid ID. Larger things like branches are a set price by yard. No construction debris accepted, only organic plant materials.
