My family and I have been finding amazing treasures from ASW for over 20 years, but unfortunately after being met with incredibly rude responses to questions about pricing on unmarked items and an itemized receipt for business purposes, I can’t support them anymore. It’s not worth it to be treated like an inconvenience when asking an employee a question about their job. There are better prices and better treatment elsewhere.

The environment is super clean and nice as soon as you arrive the staff are very polite prices are Awsome . The best part is that for my people that have Detroit land Bank homes they give you a 15% off your home purchase . They literally have everything you need for a home repair. I love that they have so many vintage stuff one can salvage.

I've never been to the on-site store but interacted mainly by email with the people here and I was truly blown away by the service we got. I care a lot about sustainability and was drawn to their mission of reusing salvaged items and I had heard that they help you with DIY projects with their wood, so I inquired about getting the wood for a bedframe along with maybe some guidance on how to construct a bedframe (my husband and I being fairly clueless about all things handy). Kevin responded asking for photos of some beds we were thinking about and I provided some from Google. He then, through a dozen emails, got all the details of what we wanted and how we wanted it and made the whole thing for us. Then, when we foolishly did not measure the space in the stairway we were moving it through and emailed for help, he came in person to our house to unassemble it, helped us carry this (heavy, sturdy) thing upstairs and reassembled it there. Yes, it wasn't a cheap bed compared to some but this custom bed was BEAUTIFUL and the service really cannot be topped. The website doesn't do the organization justice, in terms of what they can do for you. Kevin also had a palpable passion for his work that was infectious. I highly recommend this organization.

First off… It’s nice to deal with nice people on the phone and during my visit. Great selection, good prices. Gentlemen was knowledgeable and very helpful. This will be my place to seek stuff for my house. Mostly even if their prices were not decent, I would pay it just because of how they make you feel welcome. Thank you very much!

Very cool place. Lots of items waiting to be repurposed and resurrected to add character to a home. Reasonably priced.

If you are trying to find a specific size door here plan on spending several hours to find it. Most doors are not sized. If you want to measure a door you have to remove several things out of the way to do so. Lol.... i did not get a door

Back in the day, ASW used to be located in southwest Detroit, different management/ owner. It was amazing! They had so many cool antique architectural supplies for your home. Now it is not the same at all. New location east side, completely unorganized, very little to choose from and ridiculously expensive. They were charging 3 dollars per foot of some beat up old 6×1 boards, the kind you see thrown in the trash all day. They explained the chaos by saying they were non profit. Well it used to be non profit at the old location/management too...what happened?

it's sad that now you have to jump through hoops to find what you need unknown addresses to keep the public out, gentrificationat it's best,

A unique store with used hardware and home wares - everything from toilets, to crown moldings, bookcases, kitchen cabinets, light fixtures and more. Be sure you check out the two separate rooms on the first floor and additional pieces on he second floor.

The stock at this place has changed in a huge way over the past few years. Used to be able to get old doors ~1920 style, as well as period correct items for 1920 homes. Now, most stock is modern; foam core doors, newer fixtures. Very similar to Habitat for Humanity Restore locations, not worth the drive for antique hardware/stock.

Had one thing I needed to match existing hardware and found it in minutes of being there. Will go back soon to explore more of what they have to offer. This trip I was in a rush.

Some great finds can be found here. Bring your patience to sort through everything to find what you are looking for. Prices are reasonable.

Cool place that sells all kinds of things salvaged from old homes. Hardware, doors, windows, cabinets, bricks... But sorting through things can be extremely difficult as some of the items are crammed together. It seems that the best stuff is gone before it hits the floor because of people on a surgical list. Prices aren't great either.

You can find almost anything here. They have a lot of different things to help you fix a home. A lot of it is still in good shape as well. The guys there are always nice and very informative.

This place is treasure trove for anyone one looking to repair, renovate, or a simple update an older home. If you are looking for some to fit the period of your old home, definitely check this place out. They may or may not have what you are looking for but it's worth the time.

Use to be great. Great variety but now whatever they bring in that is worth anything gets held for their regulars or they are asking way too much. It's too bad I loved it there. It's just a overpriced antique shop now to be honest without the antiques.

I like the doors and scrap wood here, however don't get you heart set on it. The manager came out with a bat and told my husband and I the stuff we wanted was not for sale!

Having gone to quite a few architectural salvage places in my life, and knowing how much the city of Detroit has changed (esp. with so many buildings and homes torn down), I thought for sure there would be some amazing treasures here. Unfortunately that was not the case. I found quite a few appliances, some relatively new windows, but nothing interesting/historic/etc., the things you'd hope to find in a place like this.

Good service, city and gritty, be prepared to get a little dirty. If your looking for old wood doors and wood windows this is the place also used hardwood floors, bricks, glass doorknobs. Don't forget to go upstairs.

The best deals if you're willing to wade through garbage to find it. Go here with a vague idea of what you may like, and you'll be surprised what you leave with.

After months of trying to stop by here, we finally got the chance to check out ASWD. We were both blown away at the inventory! They have all the hard to find small pieces that other stores don't carry. If you're into DIY projects, this is the place to go. The crew working there was great! I'll definitely return for my other projects.

Fair prices. No one badgers you about buying anything. On the other hand they don't make you uncomfortable or ignore you either. Amazing selection of original windows and fixtures. Anything from an old house you need, they have it and in great condition. No trashy damaged stuff being resold for full retail price like some of the other places do. I am redoing my detroit house and it was awesome to find this place.
