Sandy beach, shallow lake.Nice playground area with accessible restrooms. A great place for adults to grab a little sanity after a long day with the kids. We even got to catch a large carrier ship passing through which we all enjoyed.
Stayed on 3 sites with family. Site backed up to a woman who was homeless. Had a small pittie. She was intoxicated most of the time. Dog wondered unleashed. Another man a a site next to her was helping with dog. Not sure if he was transient or not or even friends with her but helped with dog. Park is relatively quiet. No smoking rule not enforced. Host smoked. Nearby guests moking weed. Bathrooms clean. Park could use some grounds work leveling out areas. Sites are roomy. Picnic tables need attention.
I paid for a primitive camp site. There was access to a small but acceptable beach if you discount the biting flies. The camp sites are level and mostly grassy, perfectly fine. The problem is the bathrooms and access to water. They are locked at night which for me was 9 pm to at least 7 am. If you have to pee your doing it on the grass. And finding a nearest 24 hour gas station for anything else.
Quaint little local beach in sault ste marie that we found to wade in the water. It was extremely shallow for quite a ways out....perfect for little kids! We watched a few ships go by that were headed to/from the soo locks.
Was told by a resident of Sault Dte. Marie that this is a good place to get photos of the soon to be scrapped Mississagi.(ship)
Much to my delight, it was great for that and viewing other ships passing through on their way to the locks.
Very nice little park also. Beach area was very clean.
It was such a big staple of my childhood. I remember the store, the floating dock, and the old cement tube that were on the beach. Had my son's open house at the pavilion. It's such a nice little gem.
Beautiful ? scenery of the Lake Superior shipping canal and Canada ?? ? ❤️ ! Also behind S.S. Marie Sherman park is a rustic campground . So it's a city park watter front , playground and also a campground . Shopping is within a 10 min drive or less !
I tried to pay for a rustic site, but the booking program didn't cooperate (it kept changing dates).
There were several sites showing as open, so I went for it.
1. No signage indicating where the campground is. I drove around the park, finally saw a campfire.
2. No signs or numbers to indicate which site is which.
3. There is a sign in the restroom building: LOCKED AT NIGHT.
4. Four doors on the opposite end of the restrooms. presumably showers. Locked.
5. There's nothing on the city's website that describes these issues.
I decamped in the morning, went out and found a campground with a shower.
Public restrooms are closed for repairs as of this review. Otherwise, a very nice park with 5 bars of T-Mobile 5G if you're #vanlife looking for a place to work from. Lots of kids areas and a nice little beach.
Needs beach cleaned up from trash & glass. And the very long grass & weeds need cut & weed whipped.
The worst part is the bathrooms! They are disgusting!! Broken & missing stall doors, too. No soap or working drawer I'm womens room.
We stopped in to see the park while visiting the area. I have to say, we found it to be very well maintained and appeared to be a family friendly environment. I am curious about the old building that is adjacent to the property. It has beautiful architecture and would be worth saving from the wrath of time. It would make a great venue for weddings, since it is right on the water and has great parking.
Beautiful park right on the water. The children loved it. Only 3 stars because of all the big dead trees in the park. It was really windy and branches were falling down. Someone could get badly hurt.
This was an interesting little park at the end of town with a volleyball area, park equipment for the kids, and right next to a small campground. There is a lot of nice green space! A great picnic spot. Walk the beach and take a short hike around the abdandon building. Very serene.
This is a nice park right on the water. There is a playground for the kids, and this is a great place to watch the ships pass by. Just outside of town.
Beautiful little park. Recent upgraded with lots of native flower plantings. Excellent spot to watch the lake and freighters before they enter the locks. Bball court, swings, playground equipment and picnic tables available. Ample parking and easy beach/swimming access.
This is a very nice little park. Just a few minutes from the all the stores. There's a couple different playground equipment for the kids to play on. Picnic tables and benches. Bathrooms. Also a nice beach. The waters very shallow for awhile. So it's really a great time for kids.
Sherman Park is one of my favorite places to go swimming! It stays shallow a long way out which I'm sure is great for kids. You can soon while the freighters go by and watch the sun set over Canada. Really beautiful!
This is a beautiful park. We watched the sunset from the beach. Beautiful. There is an abandoned building that is neat to walk around. And you can see Canada from there. You can also see the bridge if you walk out by the rocks on the beach.
Very nice local beach. Beautiful sandy beach with great view of Canada and freighters pass close to shore. Very shallow water. Fairly recently cleaned up, so minor warning, you may find broken glass on occasion.
It's a Amazing park, with multiple playgrounds for the kids. Its right on Lake Superior so you get a beautiful beach, plus there's camping , and a volleyball net. There's is also bathrooms, with running water. (always a plus)
