My truck suddenly started misfiring while I was driving, and it really scared me. It caused the entire truck to shake and then the engine light was flashing. I knew I couldn't keep driving it, so I pulled over into the nearest neighborhood. I called my boss, and he reached out to Doug’s to get it handled. I honestly wasn’t expecting anything more than a standard tow—get the truck, take it where it needs to go, and move on.
But the service I received was far beyond that. The woman who called me for the location and details (I believe her name was Katie) was incredibly kind and easy to talk to.
Then, when the driver, David, arrived, he asked what was going on with the truck and was getting ready to load it up. While waiting in someone's yard nearby, I realized I needed to grab a few things from the truck bed. Not paying attention, I stepped right into a huge patch of mud - thanks to the melting ice. My shoes were ruined, and I just broke down crying— it had already been a terrible day.
David saw what happened and immediately offered me some wipes to clean my feet (I was wearing flats since I work in an office). The mud kept spreading, so I went to rinse off with some running water—freezing cold, of course. He noticed that, too, and brought me two shop rags from his truck so I could clean up properly.
That small act of kindness meant so much to me. He didn’t have to care, especially since he mentioned he wasn’t having the best day either. But he still took the time to make sure I was okay. To me, this company is so much more than just a towing service. Their compassion and willingness to go the extra mile truly stand out, and I’m grateful for the way they serve our community.
Do not communicate very well with their pricing and didn’t inform us that they charge a daily rate to leave car on their lot. They had to break the windshield to pull our car out of a ditch and then wouldn’t let our insurance company repair the windshield on their lot.
Kim & Bryson helped me get towed out of an icy parking lot at midnight. Bryson showed-up about 20-30 minutes after I contacted them. Couldn’t have hoped for better serice. Thank you very much!
Literal 5 star service. Truck started to overheat on the Bluegrass parkway because a water pump failed. Within 20min of calling the dispatcher the tow truck was there and they got me in and going again in 2hrs. Good people.
I've got nothing but good things to say about Doug's. My truck broke down on me heading home and I was stuck in a bad spot on the highway. Called and spoke with dispatcher and she was great, asked all the details, very friendly and got someone heading my way. The driver that showed up was there quick and got me out of jam, he was professional and very courteous was able to help diagnose the issue and got my vehicle to their shop. From there Joe at the shop has been awesome to deal with, he talked me through what all was wrong and what all it needed to get back on the road, he got my vehicle in and fixed very quick all while working on many others. He done awesome work on the truck and its driving way smoother now than before.The pricing was more than Fair and way less than what I was expecting based off of experiences I've had at other shops. I am very satisfied with the service. Thank you
We had a tire explosion on our boat trailer today. We were on I-65 North just north of Elizabethtown. Not a good spot to ve along the side of the expressway with cars flying by!! DOUGS TOWING came to our rescue! The nice man arrived within 30 minutes and had all the equipment he needed. He changed our tire to our spare after he had to saw off the lock!! We were back on the road in 45 min. I hope we aren't in this situation again, however WE WILL USE DOUG'S TOWING again. THANK YOU for not having us wait 2 or more hours like AAA does.
While out and about in the Elizabethtown area today one of the drivers loads wasn’t properly secured or I don’t know, but he was hauling a tack van and a mirror or something flew off of it and hit my windshield cracking it. Disappointing.. no way I can afford to replace this.
They picked up our truck and sent another truck to get our camper. Very respectful, quick and friendly service. I highly recommend and appreciate the care we received.
Communication: If you have a vehicle with them, you need to keep up on calling them. They called me about 5% of the time they said they would. Most of the time, it was silence from them.
They also decided not to continue working on my truck when they found more problems they didn’t want to deal with. I'm fine with that. However, it took me approximately a month to get that information from them. Time where I could have had the issues being delt with elsewhere.
I do think their rates are pretty normal, as my truck is still being worked on I can’t speak to the quality of their work, but I don’t doubt they did what they said they would do.
If you are questioning the two stars instead of one, it's because they were never rude with me, I beleive they did what they said they would do to my truck, and if they hadn't wasted so much of time trying to get them to communicate with me, I probably would have given 3 or 4 stars. 1 star wouldn't be an honest review of them. If the new shop tells me they didn’t do what they said, then I'll edit, but I don’t expect to have to do that.
Used this company through my AAA today, the tow truck driver, Mike, was very polite, professional and helpful. I appreciate how helpful he was and how well he treated my child. Thank y'all so much for helping
So thankful for this towing service! AAA left me stuck and without anyone to help. Merciful Towing came out and decided it was too hard for them and they left. Finally after calling many towing services I got Doug’s and I am so happy I did! The guy pulled me out in about 10 minutes! Appreciate you guys taking pity on me and my situation!
Shoutout to our tow truck driver Matt!!! He really helped us out a ton this past sunday morning. He picked us up within 20 minutes of calling AAA!! Matt gave us a great ride down the road towing my vehicle to a nearby shop. Thanks Matt!!
The tire on our Budget rental blew, and Budget was going to essentially leave us stranded on the side of the road with 3 kids 2 hours away from our hotel in the middle of the night. Kim and Matt picked us up, made sure my kids were fed and taken care of, got us all the way to our hotel and made sure Budget paid for it. I will never be able to thank them enough, nor can I recommend this company enough. They actually care about people.
I’m very happy with the service I got from Doug’s towing. I needed my car picked up in Elizabethtown and delivered to Lexus Service in Louisville. I called Doug’s in the morning, Courtney gave me the exact total amount for the towing and told me it could be done that afternoon. Frank called me to let me know he’d picked it up and let me pay with credit card over the phone. Lexus Service confirmed delivery an hour later. Perfect execution; thanks Courtney and Frank @ Doug’s!!
My college student was stranded on the highway between Elizabethtown and Bardstown on a Saturday night. I called Doug’s Towing and tried my best to explain where he was. The employee on the phone, Kimberly, quickly got a driver dispatched to him and was an absolute angel. I could not have asked for a better experience.
These guys are really good. Me and my uncle broke down near Etown. Called everybody else and they had the best prices. Thought our alternater was messed up but it turned out to be a belt. They could've easily taken advantage but they didn't. Did a really good job on my uncle's car and got it done in a really good time. Plus talking with them, they're really good people. They get two thumbs up from me. If you break down anywhere near Etown (they service a whole lot more area than Etown by the way) give these guys a call. I'm telling you, you won't be disappointed.
One star is one too many. I w as quoted $1,000 for a tow, so I stopped searching around because it was the best price I could find. About a week later when it came time to actually tell the vehicle, they wanted almost $400 more than the original price. Take your business elsewhere to somewhere more honest, Doug's towing is a shady business.
EDIT: It seems that you have left out some pretty important information. After the first call was denied, I sorted things out with AAA and arranged for the member on the account to be there for the tow, which AAA, AND Doug's towing, ACCEPTED.
"Frank" (from Doug's towing) then proceeded to tell me that for this service call, AAA had labeled the vehicle a "Class A RV" , therefore the price of the tow would now be an extra ~$350 out of pocket more for me than the original deal Frank and I had made a week prior. This was the new price INCLUDING the AAA benefits.
I asked Frank if he could stick to our original deal. He refused, and replied that he was not given dimensions of the vehicle during our first call. I gave him very specific measurements of the vehicle during the first phone call.
I went with CTS towing, and had a very honest and professional business experience with them.
I understand that you want to defend your business, but just be honest. You're only proving my point.
Justin was great! Showed up with the rollback to tow my dad's truck after a blowout. He asked what questions he needed and jumped right into it. Took good care of rigging and pulling the truck up onto the bed and did the same on the off-load. This was a AAA service call, but I would not hesitate to use them if I'm needing service outside of the AAA network. Best experience I've ever had with a towing/roadside service like that.
We got our 26 foot uhaul stuck in the mud moving.. Doug's came out after calling AAA they were there In a matter of minutes evaluated the situation and pulled our truck out in about 30 minutes. both guys were very experienced friendly and professional they made a hopless situation better.i would highly recommend them to anyone with any service needs. Justin from Doug’s towing came out almost immediately and jumped my car. Took less than five minutes from his arrival to get my car started. Very nice and professional. Melissa was also very helpful when I spoke with her on the phone.
We were in a pinch and needed a rotating truck out to our shop, ASAP. We called Doug's and they scheduled for the exact minute we needed them here. Office ladies are so nice and helpful! We will definitely keep them in mind for future needs.
I just wanted to say thanks to the folks over at Doug's Towing. Customer service super nice. The price was affordable. Most of the time, people do not interact, because it's business or just don't want to talk. JUSTIN was super nice from the moment he rang my door bell. He asked questions about the car, he was personable and very kind. He even sent a photo of my car when it was dropped off. I hope I don't have to be towed again but if I do these guys are the ones. We needed Doug’s Towing to lift & move our stinger from the trailer it was sitting on to another trailer. Mike came out right away and took care of everything for us quickly! Great job!
Fair pricing and hard workers! While traveling, the spring broke on our 32 foot travel trailer. It was a mess. After calling several places where no one wanted to deal with the issue, we luckily called Doug’s. Not only were they kind on the phone, they sent someone out immediately. Michael went right to work trying to make it so we could get off of the expressway- this was no small task since the axle shifted when the spring broke and we also had wrecked tires from the damage. Once we made it to the shop, Michael didn’t stop working. He fixed everything and had us back on the road within hours…without overcharging. Thank you to Michael at Doug’s for going above and beyond to help us.
Older guy was very rude. Eventually became nice once he realized you weren't going to deal with his attitude. After he stopped being difficult, everything went pretty smoothly. Way overpriced. Got charged for a full day of storage even though the vehicle wasn't even in the impound lot for an entire day. Registration usually stays inside vehicles, the previously mentioned older guy almost didn't let us get it from the vehicle to prove we are the owners. I'd only use this company if it was the very last option.
Jarod and Doug's Towing and Recovery were great! Jarod was extremely friendly and professional. Hopefully we'll never be in this situation again, but if we are, and in this area, Doug's is who we're calling!
