This place was great. My car broke down, and I called and asked how much it was to have it towed to a mechanic. They said they can actually take a look at it so I said sure. They were able to pick it up, fix it, and I picked it up all in one day. And they didn’t treat me like I was an idiot like some other places around here. The only reason it’s a 4 star is I was told there was a leak but they didn’t look into it.

I bought a used car from Mike. A week later I had problem with my car & he offered to fixed the issue at no cost to me . I dropped my car off after work & he had it fixed the next day.Very happy customer. Mike is a trusted , friendly, person I'm diffently going back to him.

Attention to details in regular maintenance, minor or major repairs. Really takes the time to get to know you as a person and understand how you feel about your car and your service. Whole team is great I know them all by name. Very secure location and staff willing to do anything to get it right. Mike will get to know your car and give great info on how to protect and get the most performance from the car.

Mike and his staff did an amazing job on my truck. They painted my truck topper and buffed the whole truck for an amazing price. I would highly recommend this shop. Mike is a great guy.

I entrusted my two vehicles to this repair shop, but I must admit, it was a decision I now deeply regret. My trust was unquestionably misplaced, and I want to share my experience here to ensure others don't fall into the same trap I did. Be cautious when considering this place for your repairs.

I've now had occasion to use Mike Louis Auto Body three times and their skill and service are exemplary. There are lots of choices for body shops in the Des Moines metro but should the need arise I'll take the minor hassle of going to Ames to use Mike and his team because I know I can trust them completely.

Ive taken my vehicle to Mike twice and I will be taking it there from now on. Mike and his staff were very friendly and nice. His prices are very good and he's willing to work with you. Also his work is excellent.

Called Mike about an estimate for our Lexus RX-350. We had peeling paint and the start of rust next to the rear taillight. Mike told me to bring it out for an estimate. He performed the estimate that day and was very honest with his assessment on the repair. At my request he gave us individual estimates for all minor paint repairs on the car. We ended up just doing the taillight spot and he was fine with that. We accepted the bid that day and brought it in the following Monday. We had it finished in 3 days just as he promised. Pulled the taillight, grinded out rust and poor paint, sprayed and blended to match, replaced light, and polished. Car looks like there was never an issue there, which is exactly what you want. Pricing was very fair and Mike & staff were great. Mike also said lifetime warranty on the repair. Will definitely do business with them again if we have any other issues down the road. Will definitely be recommending Mike to friends & family. Thanks!

Worked with Mike on a rust repair job on my camper conversion van. Mike is an honest man who does an amazing job. Good cominication as the project changed (as most rust repairs can) and it came out looking great. Would come back here again in a hearbeat.

Mike is great! We thought our vehicle needed a new fuel pump which was doable but when we found out on a Saturday that it was the transmission we knew we had to salvage the car. No where in Ames was open except this place we hadn't heard of on east Lincoln Way so I called what ended up being Mike's cell phone number and he answered on a weekend and told us we can simply drop the vehicle off there and come back at our convenience for a check! Easiest process with honest people!

Wish I could give this place negative stars. Complete rip off. My car had broke down and my insurance had called for a tow truck. When the guy showed up to tow it into a repair shop, he said his place could get me in right away. So I said sure. Biggest. Mistake. Ever. They have unskilled workers "under the table" working on your car. They messed it up so bad, that after they finished "fixing" it, it had more problems then when it went in. I ended up junking the vehicle, I just couldn't trust using it anymore.

Awesome service! Our transmission went out and it was a total loss. Mike himself gave us $50 mor than scrap price! Thank you! HIGHLY recommended!!!

We give them an A+ on vehicle paint repair and customer service. We had over a dozen paint chips on our new vehicle, and they repaired every spot. They matched the vehicle paint perfectly, vacuumed our vehicle and washed it, too.

As I was pulling into my home the other evening, my front left axle broke on my car. The entire front left corner of my car just sort of took a nose dive into the ground, and I just sat there for a second in disbelief. It was 5:30 pm on a Tuesday. I got out and looked at the damage to my car...I don't really know anything about cars, but I did know that what I was looking at was going to be expensive to fix. I called my insurance company and had them send out roadside assistance. Even though I wasn't technically on the road, I was in my parking lot, I wanted them to have someone move my car into a parking spot because I knew I didn't have the $ to fix whatever was wrong. Mike Louis called me on behalf of my insurance company...I was in tears at this time because I knew I wasn't going to be able to afford to fix my car. Mike listened to me and asked if he could come take a look and see what could be done. He said that if there was something that he could do for me, then he would. He showed up at 5:50 pm (20 minutes after the initial call to my insurance), and took a look at my car for me. I was still crying when I was outside talking to him...my wife and I need our vehicle to get to work, and Mike was so understanding and kind to me...I am a transgender woman, and I know for certain I am not what Mike was expecting to meet him to talk about my car. He told me that he would take my car back to his shop, and if there was anything that he could do for me on price, then he would. I cannot begin to tell you how much that meant to me right then. The next morning, at 8:30 am he calls me and says that he is going to fix my axle, ball joint, and entire axle assembly for a ridiculously low price. I (of course) start crying on the phone with him, but this time out of happiness...I couldn't believe he was going to fix everything for me for that price. He then offered to try and have me back on the road THAT AFTERNOON. He offered to have my vehicle back to me, fully repaired by 2 pm. Remember that I just had the problem at 530 pm the previous evening. Mike called me at 1:30 pm on the dot on Wednesday and told me my car was ready to be picked up...like I can't even begin to explain how amazing that is. I got a ride from a friend and picked up my car at 2:20 pm. Not even 24 hours after nose-diving in my parking lot, y'all. The bill was EXACTLY what he said it would be, to the cent. There wasn't any extra labor, any extra parts, no extra charges of any kind. I told him that more than likely I was going to leave an incredible review for him on Google, and that there were probably going to be more LGBTQIA+ folks coming to see him in the future because of how well I was treated. He said " We are in Ames...we see all kinds of people here, and everyone is welcome here no matter what." Looking past the amazing service I got, the price he did everything for, and how amazing he was to me....He was just a really amazing human being and he has 100% made a customer for life out of me. I cannot recommend Mike Louis enough...he and his team are really incredible people, and deserve every bit of the praise I've given here. Thank you!!!!!!

I got my bumper replaced after an accident, and am so glad I took my car here. The work was done quickly and Mike lived up to his reputation as a paint match expert! From start to finish the communication was excellent, and Mike & Sherri went out of their way to make me feel valued as a customer, and to ensure my needs and expectations were being met. I've worked with several shops in the area and this experience was hands down the best!

I was to scared to drill holes into my 350z so I took it to mike to install a wing on her and it turned out better than I expected, Mike is a down to earth honest man, I defiantly will be coming back for more possible upgrades once I get the money?

Long story short: Mike was very honest and fair to me. He could have made more money but he did me a favor instead. Great guy! To be more specific... I had been working on my grandpa's 1994 Dodge Dakota that I had inherited. I wanted to fix it up because it had a lot of sentimental value for me, and really low mileage, but eventually ran into some electrical issues that I was unable to troubleshoot. The time came to throw in the towel so I called Mike to junk it. I couldn't find the title so mike asked me to get a new one so he could try to fix it and sell it. I told him that I would pay for the repair if he could get it running again, so later that day he called me and had solved the problem. He didn't charge me all that much, and could have just bought it for $50 and resold it, but he was really honest with me and gave me a fair deal. I couldn't be more pleased! Thanks Mike!

Mike Louise the type of local mechanic you don't find anymore. He'll tell you honestly the things that needs to be fixed or eventually repaired, both what needs to be fixed right away and what can wait. Then he'll work with you to give you a fair price.

Went out of his way to help me as a customer. Super friendly guy. Came and towed my car for me, figured out my problem, and fixed it before any other companies could even take a look at my car. Highly recommended.

Mike Louis is one of the most honest car service shop that I have been to. Mike, the owner, is always helpful and the mechanics are experienced. The charges are very reasonable compared to other car service shops that I have been to. I sent my car there twice and will continue to do so if my car need to be fixed or serviced. Highly recommend Mike Louis if you need someone to look at your car. The con is that they always have many people sent their cars in so you might have to wait a few days till when they have time to do some fixes on your car. Call ahead to make sure they have time for you!

Mike's shop took my wrecked car and sold me a used car, they gave me a great deal and completed all the promised little fixes they promised to do on the car they sold me and even went above and beyond by fixing a few things they didn't have to. High Quality Restoration and Refurbishing Work! Mike and his crew helped me restore my 1970 Chevy Monte Carlo and refurb my 1994 GMC Suburban. The quality of their work is superb! Service and communication during these projects was excellent at a fair price. I was always advised and involved with decisions on options and cost.
