I don’t know why I didn’t listen to the reviews before I went here (particularly about the alignments), but maybe you will. It’s been over six months and I still begrudge having gone here every time I drive my car.
I went in for suspension work and
1. The alignment they overcharged me for is laughably bad. Great for when I’m taking a curve, though, and can finally let go of the steering wheel.
2. The communication was awful. They had my car for two weeks and weren’t returning my calls. I had to ride my bike there to be able to talk to them. Deano said it was because they were short-staffed, and yet he had no problem keeping me there for an extra hour monologuing because I was too polite to tell him to stop.
3. There was a new whirring sound after I got my car back.
4. They didn’t disclose a huge (relative to any other place) credit card fee at any point.
5. They gave me bad information on what the error codes were with the check engine light.
I really recommend going anywhere but here.
charlatan. He will even try adding “work” I say that very loosely after you take back something they didn’t fix. Charged me 300 extra to FIX a window that wasn’t fixed. Took back the car after the set price for alternator and added cost after the fact. . Don’t let the quick talk fool you. Go to a pro shop and spend less. “Bring it in and I’ll fix it again no charge “… (me) “hey here to pick it up”. (Swindler) well we did a non related concern and tightened the cap on it. It’ll be another 250, cause that took 2 hours
The service here is horrible! They fixed my car just for the exact same problem to occur and broke down on the expressway and they held my car for entire month without ever touching my car my car so long I just took it somewhere else. They didn't want to fix what they broke so they basically tried to hold my car until the warranty went out. I wouldn't go here! The mechanic don't know how to do anything, they are unprofessional and big slow scam of a shop. Save yourself the waste of time!
My car needed a whole rear axle break job desperately. Work was fast, professional, and quality. Which in my opinion are the three main core values in any business and this company hits the trifecta perfectly. In addition to that they offered something they definitely didn’t have to, offer a fair price. With today’s world and money becoming more and more tight all around they offered me a very fair price and I could not be happier.
I had a flat tire and Dave came out to help me change a tire and didn't even want to charge me for his service. I had it up in the air and lug nuts off. These guys actually care about their customers.
Dino the owner is a great guy. He and his team work hard to resolve issues with your car. Recommended!
I have been depending on Deano and his crew for years now, and they have never disappointed! Their service is top-notch, and they have always fit us in when we were in a pinch. This is an awesome family run small business in Chesterton and I would happily pay a little bit more to get their services, if necessary.
Example: We were on the way to Florida and had some electrical issues and Deano saw us right away and fixed our issues so we could not miss our vacation.
Another time one of the employees made a house call when our battery died in our garage.
I’ve had my alternator replaced, my transmission replaced, tires done, front and rear brakes done, and I’ve never been disappointed. Service is timely, efficient, and always fairly priced.
I cannot say enough good things about Deano, his staff and this establishment. I would recommend them 10 out of 10 times. Their prices are fair and their service is unmatched!
The owner, Deano, is a super nice guy, friendly, very knowledgeable and immensely honest. Didn't overcharge or try to scam me. He and his wife are the people that I trust with any vehicle I have and I highly recommend them!
I gave one star due to the seriousness of the what could have ended my life. I brought it in for an alignment and has since moved twice since the initial alignment . 2nd time I brought it back I was fair and reasonable even paid him for his service again.. Today I brought it back with the same complaint . Sent me to another shop which is fine but screws themselves because I saw the mistake that was made.i drive 80 miles a day for work and to find my life was put in danger not once but twice has now brought beme to the point of opening a lawsuit for this shops negligence. Do not bring your car here. Do not trust this shop and certainly don't bring your kids car here. Everything I had them do had to be done twice and the alignment now 3 times.. I am so disgusted in myself that I trusted these people. Never again!!
I have a vehicle that required a lot of TLC and was in the market for a small local business to support. I have a very limited income and have to be very cautious. I have to say that Bethany, Deano, and Big American HD (Dave - the tow truck driver) are absolutely amazing! 100% professional, great quality work, and very fair pricing! They just gained a loyal customer and I'm telling everyone I know!! I HIGHLY recommend!! Extremely pleased with the service I received!
Honest shop! Brought my car in thinking I had brake problems. Come to find out it must of been a rock lodged somewhere and there was no problem. After seeing reports about other mechanics scamming people. It's nice to find a shop that is honest. Will be bringing my car when they do go out. 100% recommend!
Our 2001 Ford Taurus needed anti freeze work. Dino the owner came in on his day off & repaired it. Sure makes a difference especially being a single parent. My son needs the vehicle to go to work. Today I feel thankful and blessrd. Thank you Gastons still needs a little more work. We are confident they will repair that too.
I wouldn't take my car anywhere else!! Deano Rectenwall (owner of Gastons) has won my business over and over again!! I trust his work and his pricing over anyone I have ever dealt with Period!!!! My family and I are grateful for Deano and Highly recommend Gaston's Towing for all your auto needs!!
