Indiana Public Auto Auction is one of the largest public auto auctions in the Midwest. As a member of the National Association of Public Auto Auctions, IPAA is pleased to comply with the NAPAA’s code of ethics. IPAA has been operating in its newly remodeled 10,500 square foot facility since 2009, including the IPAA administrative offices, reconditioning center, auto detailing center, transportation center, and sales data center. IPAA specializes in the sale of finance company and bank repossessions, new and used car dealership trade-ins, publicly consigned vehicles, and donated vehicles. Indiana Public Auto Auction hosts internet auctions every Tuesday at 2:00 pm. Most vehicles are displayed on our website prior to the auction.

These people are terrible. Don't spend your money with them. High fees, they're inefficient, this is a dealer's graveyard. All the wrecked cars are sold here.

Just got a steal at the auction. $1206. Runs like a champ and is the first thing i have ever owned in my life. We do recover. The only thing is it has no power steering but hey what man needs power steering. See you next Tuesday Indiana Public Auto Auction
It's not covid anymore and they probably should go back to live auctions. The Internet ones seem super scamy. It's like you never can get that good deal like when it was live. And that's part due to them not telling you which cars were the goodwill donated cars! Those are the ones that you could get a steal on.....
All junk cars that with various issues. Please don’t buy them unless you want to use the car for parts. I fear the car would fall apart anytime. I bought two cars and the description shows it runs but turned out to be all kind of issues that not worth to repair. For example, after repair the car is 4k but need 8k to repair. Think twice before you buy.
Long time costumer ( probably going on 6-7 years ). I've never had a single issue with IPAA (probably going on 9-10 vechiles). I've yet to regret a single purchase and they have always had way better prices and experiences than any lot I've visited. The people up there make this place feel like family. As long as they're open they always get my business.
The auction website is really easy to navigate. The vehicle that we bidded for had little to no problems. We got that back in November 2024 and now we're on our second purchase!
Looks to me like there are some behind the scenes betting going on to get the purchase price into a higher auction fee. Also the bidding increments usually say $100. Where are these $25 and $50 dollar bids coming from? Seems fishy. Behind the scenes bidding for higher auction fees. I see alot of vehicles starting bids at $425 now.
UPDATE Well I am here to admit thatI was wrong, wrong, wrong! Yes they have a good website and easy to use yes they show you many details on the cars EXCEPT THE MAIN THING! The freaking oil! The most obvious sign of a piece of cap car that won’t even make it home from buying it. The first one I thought well you win some you lose some I didn’t even drive it 100 miles and had to scrap it for $300 losing $800. I was even more excited when the following week I bought another one that only lasted not even 50 miles! Lost another $800. The third one I decided to walk out to the lot before paying it all and was glad I did since the oil looked like chocolate milk! I tried to talk to people that worked there but was just ignored literally so I just walked out. I sure as hell wasn’t going to have another piece of crap unloaded on me again. My other half didn’t think it would happen to him and yes you already know he didn’t even make it home with the car when the engine just locked up on him! I DO NOT SUGGEST THIS PLACE. They are advertising cars saying they run and drive well listing no issues with it but the whole engine blows after not even 50-100 miles! I can’t believe that they don’t have ANYONE checking the oil on these cars and act like nothing is wrong with them when any idiot knows that oil should never look like that. They knew damn well those cars wouldn’t last an hour on the roads but insist that it’s a god running low mileage car! It’s bad for business and shows you really don’t care who you screw and will just say anything to get the car out of there and the money in your pocket! I’m disgusted and I will make sure I tell the entire world what you are doing and loose no sleep selling complete junk cars to people for thousands of dollars as long as you get that money! Well you better listen to me when I say I hope you are saving all that money you are making right now because YOUR MONEY TREE IS ABOUT TO DRY UP TO NOTHING so spend your time thinking of your next hustle to scam and basically steal peoples money because this ride is coming to an END. Laugh it up now because you are going to be crying later! What’s wrong it’s too much work for you to run an honest business? You prove to have no morals or values in my book.
VERY dissatisfied with purchase. Vehicle was labeled “runs & drives” Drove it 5 miles down the road & it overheated and was done for. Asked for money back. Of course was told “As-is” Has been a couple of months & still yet to get the title. Was a great place til these scammers came in from the East Coast. Highly advise to go elsewhere. They just want your money & their junk off of their lot. Shame too see such a great business go to crap.
All of their vehicles are complete garbage, don't waste your money. Any vehicle you buy will cost an extra $5000 to make actually able to drive. They are a scam place.
Everything the online auction ends they keep recieving bids afterwards, I was the highest bidder when the auction ended and yet they still kept getting bids. There has been severas cars where I was the highest bidder, but not once did I get the cars. 100% do not recommend.
It's been almost two months since I bought two cars. Both were in terrible condition. I had never been to such a bad auction. I paid for an extremely expensive service and never received the title to my car. I have called repeatedly and they only tell lies. They are not responsible. Please do not buy from this auction. It is a disaster and they play with your money. Hidden fees!!!!
Very nice place with friendly people good business. I did have trouble with website applying to finance a vehicle and missed the vehicle I actually wanted, but overall I ended up getting two great vehicles at a decent price.
I went there to rent a U-Haul they were absolutely amazing the gentleman working the front desk was very friendly and knowledgeable and he got us in and out of there real quick
Bought a car from this place and told title would be mailed to me. Then after a month of no title, they then send me paperwork saying it has a lien on it that they never mentioned at auction. It has been 5 months and they still will not give me a title. Asked for my money back and they said they would have to check if I can get my money back.
I'd give em 0 if it were a selection. This organization listed a vehicle I purchased as running, with no other issues listed. Pictures were of it INSIDE their building. It was outside when I went to pick it up and would not even turn over. This company is trash and just wants your money. Then they act like they do nothing wrong. You have been warned. Buying at an auction does come with risks, but when something is mislabeled and rigged, that is bad business. I have done multiple vehicles through them over the years never has one been so mislabeled. I have no idea why they are doing business like this now a days.

I purchased the vehicle through the new online auction system they have. When I picked up the vehicle and drove off, everything seemed fine. I literally got maybe 5 mins away from Indiana public auction & my vehicle started to overheat. I then pulled the vehicle over at a gas station to buy coolant to put into the which didn’t work. I then put the car in to the shop to find out that the thermostat needed to be replace. Once the thermostat was replaced. They did another diagnostic and found out that the head gasket was blown. I reached out to a Indiana public auction and explain to them what was going on. & was told that they would reach out to the seller and get back with me, here it is December 16 and I have yet to hear from them. Also, the lady at the front desk told me they do a thorough inspection of the vehicles when they receive them at the gate. This could not be true, because my vehicle overheated less than 10 minutes of me pulling out of their lot! I do not recommend purchasing a vehicle from this place unless you physically go look at the vehicle. They are promoting false information on the online auction site and not giving thorough inspections!
Ladies behind the desk seem nice enough but I got a mechanic lien vehicle and have had nothing but trouble from the BMV getting the lien removed. They say they give you all the necessary paperwork to get the title but I've had to go back and forth three times getting original paperwork and now I still have to have a VIN inspection completed. Which requires a law enforcement agent to complete.Total hassle.
Management is terrible!! Steve took almost 3 wks to mail our title (regular mail). Causing us to have a late fee. & he won't return a single call. I've been calling off & on for 1.5 months.
Rest of staff is nice & we got a decent car.
Had really bad experience with the owner !!! His name is Steve Roger !!! This guy is a scammer big time !!! Bought a car Chevy Cruze 2012 !! No check engine light sounds good only dirty inside and have minor problems!! That’s why I bought it ! The auction said Green light means that I could test drive it after paying with my credit card !! Met with the owner yesterday 10/13/2021 around 4.00 pm do paperwork and paid everything and temporary plate number, he gave me the key to test drive it for only 30 minutes he said just 30 minutes !!! I drove and came back almost 5.00 pm everything was fine until I pick up my friend to help me with the car because I was driving a rental car… parked the Cruze about 40 minutes and I drove Chevy Cruze for 15 minutes and the transmission start slipping and not running more than 25 miles… and the engine code turn on.. he knows or the seller knows that this is a bad car that if running more than 40 minutes after overnight it will start having problem.. I went the next day which is today to complain about it and asking him not to pay the seller at all… I told him that I will dispute this problem too to my credit card and if can’t I will go to court too !!! And will report to BBB

Absolutely love the auctioneer the only problem was that all the cars have such a high cap on them but some of the cars were very affordable and they were all pretty clean I will definitely return the concession stand with outstanding and the ladies are very nice you definitely should check this place out
Please read! After hearing the auctioneer say “oh don’t let the red light scare you many people sell good cars as-is” along with it being my first time. I was very naive to believe him. Literally leaving the lot and the cars transmission is slipping along with steering issues and to top it off the cars temperature gauge was already at the top limit. Meaning it was extensively overheating. I had to have AAA tow the car to a mechanic to realize as I thought that I was ripped off! Not only that but the mechanic said it should not have even been allowed to drive across the auction block because of the safety issues attached to the car. Do not trust them at all they have shady practices unless it is a green light but even then those cars were suspect one had to be jumped and barely started then but it was seller guaranteed pretty odd. They know they are selling you unreliable cars. I hope you will just save up your money and go to a reputable dealer or lot that can assist you in finding reliable transportation. Now $2000 in the hole for a car that wouldn’t make it a mile down the road and back to square one I can only hope people learn from this expensive mistake and do not trust them! I have filled reports with the BBB and the Attorney Generals office, but we will see what happens. If there was a zero star rating they would receive it.
Took my daughter so that she could buy her first car. We enjoyed the experience and she walked away with her first car. She is very happy with it and I am happy for her.

Just make sure you view the car you bid on first because you never know if there is a battery in it or if doors work or something like that.
All in all, you can't beat the price or convenience any place else to get a car.
It's so thrilling to bid against dealers and to come home with a new toy!!
They have a layaway plan too. You pay half and you have 6 weeks to pay for the car you pick!
I was a first time seller there and they did not explain there policy to me about collecting payment and then to add to it the owner was very rude to me along as I explained to them I drove in from a distance to pick up my check and that could of been prevented if his staff would have explained there policy to me. Then when I finally was able to get my check a few weeks later it was not signed and there was no signer there and they were trying to make me wait to get it signed. So the girl behind the desk just scribbled a signature on to the check.
