I use to come here all the time but after today never again I had cooper #2 only a pounds worth but the guy threw it to the side never weighed it and I had yellow brass at berh metal yesterday was offered 2.10 a lb but I decided 2 wait and see what these guys offerd dumb move on my part cuz these guys gave me a 1.00 and also tried saying what I had was lead and I know it was Cooper after having them scratch it it was Cooper like I said. I will not give one more penny to this place I rather drive extra 20min to go to berh metals where im treated fairly not ripped off. This is a shame they used to be good until the 2007 to 2013 group disappeared these new workers screw you every chance they can!!!!!!!
Aaron and the team are great and always treat me and our company with respect. They are fair, honest, and professional. I definitely recommend them for your recycling needs.
I bring scrap down once a week and Aaron always helps me unload and has a smile on his face while he does. He is friendly and helpful everytime I see him.
Have been. going to Crystal Lake for years. Since opened what I have to say the crew that is in place now and from the last year or 2 is the best. I've ever encountered in the industry. Very honest and up front.
DON’T GO HERE I would give zero stars if I could the staff was rude and don’t let them anyway near your car will leave scratch’s when unloading your scarp. The yard was a complete mess looking more like a dump than a scrapyard. They will try to scam you from the prices you deserve and pay you much less. This yard was a complete mess , save yourself the headache and DON’T GO HERE!!
Do not go to this yard! I brought 800lbs worth of steel and they only gave me $30. The guy unloading was very rough and harsh unloading my scrap from my Suburban.
I went to Ben’s Global Recycling in Elgin and they paid me the same for 400lbs of steel.
Go to Ben’s Global instead of this yard who stole from me.
I left three air conditioning systems, three coils, three condensers, and two furnaces at this place. I received only $26 for all of it. The prices here are terrible. In the place where I usually leave scrap metal, I get $40-50 just for one air conditioning system. I don't recommend this place to anyone. I will never come back here.
These guys work so hard and I appreciate all their help. Willing to answer questions and educate me on the best ways to recycle. This is by far the best place to go for your recycling needs. Thanks Guys!

The guys (and gals) here are always ready to help unload whatever you bring in for recycling, very polite and knowledgeable, and an easy way to help keep recyclables out of the landfills.
The guys are superb! Very helpful and courteous! Help you unload as well! I have been in the auto core recycling for 40 years and at other yards they stand and watch with arms folded! Not at Elgin Recycling by the time you back up to unload there is always at least 1 to 2 guys waiting to unload you! Would highly recommend! Kudos to Travis, Lalo, Peter, Sean and of course Esperanza!
I am a demolition contractor and have been recycling for 30+ years. Elgin Recycling in Crystal Lake is by far my top pick. Always have the best price as the market changes, very friendly and knowledgeable staff, huge yard for unloading trucks and trailers and they are happy to help unload your materials large or small. A+ all the way around.
This is the place to scrap. Best prices. They help you unload. The staff is excellent. There yard is extremely clean. I'm a customer and a former Manager and it was a absolutely great place to work as well. Love this place. 10 stars if I could.
I do not recommend this yard, they have low prices, and a dirty yard, and I got a nail in my $300 tire. There office also doesn't communicate well with the employees in the yard. I was told two different prices, and answers from both. Terrible place!
