Honestly blown away. I went in today for a battery after mine died on the block, and the manager gave me the keys to his personal vehicle to drive to a nearby Auto Zone to get a battery when he discovered they didn’t have the one I needed in stock. That’s good ol’ fashioned small town kindness and service right here in the big city. So generous. Thanks for getting me back on the road!

Manager Sam can’t give a courtesy call to let you know they can’t do a 4-wheel alignment, and set out to just do the front. When I speciysaid I needed a 4-wheel alignment because I had my rear subframe replaced and all my front su. It wasn’t until the second time that I brought it back when decided to say “oh, btw you need centric bolts on the rear to do the alignment. They instead said that I needed to balance my wheels if it was shaking, which I did and the rear was still giving me rattling.
This place is awesome! Been coming here for about 2 yrs now. The customer service is exceptional. Very honest and knowledgeable staff. Whether it’s Sam or Nelson who are there just know your car is in great hands.

I happened to have my car smoke up near this location, and it was meant to be. Nelson and Sam are such good people. And really made me feel great about leaving my car in their hands. The mechanics do a great job, and the RIGHT job. They really know what they’re doing and dealing with at this location. Brought it in before I had to get emissions tested. They go above and beyond, and I am so grateful!!

Took car for oil change. The people were good about telling me about other issues I might have soon (balding tires, brake pads). In and out under an hour.

Had some car trouble during a recent cross country move where all indicators on my car lit up the dash at the same time. I scheduled a last-minute appointment and they got in to see me. They were very polite and up front about their procedures and the cost of diagnostics versus repairs. They were able to reset the onboard computer and were kind enough to waive all diagnostic and repair costs. Would definitely return if I were still living in Chicago!
Manager Sam is polite and efficient, and got me in at a convenient time for my oil change. However, while driving away and getting my regular TPMS reading, I noticed my tires were over inflated by ~10 PSI. I brought it right back, they showed me on their meter that it was actually at the recommended amount of ~35, and claimed that my TPMS was wrong.
However, still concerned while driving around Chicago, I took a reading of my own with the inflator/meter that I keep in my trunk, and it was consistent with the TPMS. I know it's accurate, because when I've filled my tires at a gas station the reading is always consistent with my own device. Therefore, they put me in a dangerous situation due to their meter being wrong. I don't believe anything was done maliciously; however they must fix this equipment before someone gets in a serious accident due to overinflation. Thankfully I quickly researched how to deflate my tires and got them to an acceptable level. It's a shame, because everything else about my experience was great, but nothing can get in the way of vehicle safety, and I'm compelled to leave a low rating due to this.
Sam and his team have always been absolutely great. Very patient with my elderly mom & always doing only what is needed for our cars. They do great work and are great communicators. We’re very loyal to them with everything we do!
My first time at this location. There was a noise coming from the front of my car. They explained to me what was going on and what they had to do to fix it. The price was fair. Everybody was respectful, and the job was done right!

I just moved to the area and wanted to find a reliable spot to take my vehicle. With a newborn and a need to stay local, It can be uneasy to change up car maintenance routine but I was grateful to know that I was in good hands here. I recently took my car in to the Irving Park location for a couple minor things. I wanted an oil change and I needed them to fix a slow leak in one of the tires. They said the valve stem which have sensors on them nowadays was bad. They put an "after market" valve stem on and after driving it for 1week, the indicator light still detected a slow leak. I took it back in. They said the one they installed was defective. So they put another one on. The indicator light on the dashboard never went out.
So I came back again. They said the after market one that they put on was probably defective also. So they said they would put on a factory replacement one.
So after another week of driving and the indicator light still was on I took it back in. I told them it was probably the tire and not the valve stem. They took the tire off again and examined it, and came to the conclusion that the tire was bad.
If they would have examined the tire in the first place they would have discovered this, instead of just assuming it was the valve stem.
I paid $60 for the valve stem that I didn't need and I still have a slow leak.
They were supposed to rotate my tires also as part of the oil change. This was not done. They said they rotated them but it was NOT DONE.
Now I'm wondering if they even changed the oil and just said they did.
I honestly can NOT RECOMMEND this place.
Added the following on 8/23/2024.
Turns out the tire leak problem was not a bad tire as Car X said. It was just a slow leak where the tire meets the rim. It just needed to be taken off and re-seated on the rim. Only $20 from some honest guys.

Great location. The staff here came through for me big time, accepted me as they were closing and still gave me a great price as well!! Best price for synthetic blend around, and very kind helpful staff as well…. Highly recommend this location!!
Couldn't have had a better experience. Needed diagnosing on my old Honda and they were far more reasonable on the price than surrounding shops. Everyone there was down to earth and honest. Left with a full breakdown of everything I needed to work on and couldn't recommend these guys enough. Great to know I have service like this a block from my place!
First off I went to the location on Ashland and Fullerton to get a noise checked out in my car and they directed me to the location here on Irving Park because they were “a bigger shop” the first shop told me the second location could take a look for free. I called the second shop before I went just to make sure they could do it before I made the 20 minute drive over there. They told me yes to bring it on in. I get to the second location and I’m met with a young man that seemed to be in a snobby mood. I told him I had called beforehand cause I wanted to get this loud annoying buzzing looked at. He tells me I would need to pay a $99 diagnostic fee for my car to be looked at in any regard. At this point I’m kinda frustrated because the guy at the first location at least listened to the sound. This second guy flat out told me no I need to pay the $99. I asked if he could at least listen to it just to see if he had any ideas/leads for me to research into about it. He told me “I can.. but I’m not going to.” The customer service and attitude I received was very poor and I’ll never try doing business here again
This location is amazing. I've been taking all of my cars to Nelson and his team for over 10 plus years. Today, they really made my morning. I came in for a repair of my heat shield, not only did they provide quick service, they want above and beyond. Thanks guys!
A fantastic repair shop for all my auto needs. I’ve been coming over 20 years. Nelson the manager is incredibly knowledgeable and totally trustworthy. I’ve always been completely satisfied with the work and was always confident that they did the work that was needed, without unnecessary additional work.
This shop stole more than $440 of my money, and junked my car that was worth about $1,500 without my knowledge. Although I have tried repeatedly to resolve this issue, I have literally been ignored for months. The manager, Nelson is a crook that stole my money. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau but the shop has not responded. Do not bring your car here! They cannot be trusted. I have called customer service as suggested, and received no response, just as I received no response from dozens of calls to Nelson at the shop. After more than 20 years of giving Carx my business, they junked my car! Still no response from customer service after weeks of waiting. This company has no respect for its customers - stay away! I had to give one star to post this review, but they deserve none.
I just love this place. I've brought my car here twice in the past 18 months or so, and every time, the service is absolutely great! Sam and Nelson take good care of me! They fully explain everything that's wrong, in a way I can understand. The prices aren't too bad either. Highly recommend!
This place was MORE than accommodating and timely with my SUV. I got my catalytic converters stolen from me. Started my car this morning and was greeted with the exploding sound of raw engine. I just knew immediately that I had gotten GOT.
I called these guys right away because they are right around the corner from me. (The less distance to drive this sound the better) I brought my car right in and they got it up on the lift within 15min and showed me what I aleeady knew. We agreed to move forward with the repair and I had my keys and car back 3 hours later. Much appreciated. These guys are honest about pricing and gave good feedback on any questions I had. Highly recommend.
I was treated so good by Nelson and his team. Car repairs give me anxiety but I had little when I went to CarX off Irving. 10/10. Thank you for making my experience so nice.
