My friend’s car wouldn’t start when she was done shopping and a dealership said it needed to be towed. Niehaus came out right away, did a quick on-site inspection and easily jumped it started whereas I was unsuccessful. He told her to keep her car running for a bit, get the battery checked for replacement and no charge! So fast, friendly, and honest.
Do not go here. I repeat do not go here. We brought our car in for an oil change and when they had dropped it off at our house the car no longer would go into drive. Dj the owner came to look at our car after hours and said he would pick it up the next day. The next day they said the solenoid needed replaced ,After replacing it they called, and said the whole engine needed replaced. We got a 2nd opinion at shottenkirk Chevrolet because the car was a chevy. They had diagnosed a completely different issue. One that niehaus never diagnosed. We strongly feel niehaus mechanic ruined our car, and they will not do anything about it. My wife called to ask how much experience the mechanic (seth) had and their own words were. "He's still wet behind the ears". There are many better mechanics in Quincy who aren't wet behind the ear. Dj is nice but he's a salesman at the end of the day and only cares for his bottom line. We are in the process of contacting the attorney General because the state of Illinois has protection laws against these kinds of situations. Please go anywhere else if you value your car
I see Dj has replied and also doesn't want to say that the same car has been going to his shop for oil changes for over a year. He also knew about the one problem the car was having and his inadequate mechanics looked at it and at their recommendations we were told to get frequent oil changes to flush the sludge. Never once did he mention any of these "known chevy" problems as long as he was getting our business. Once the problem became too much for his inadequate mechanics thats when it turned into these cars are known for this issue. The car was not low on oil. Never once did he ever suggest to go to shottenkirk Chevrolet to make sure the problem wasnt worse than what they said until the car engine had died and we were the ones who suggested a 2nd opinion . Not niehaus because we did not believe them. We were right not to because the problem was completely different from what niehaus said. At the end of the day the car was drivable when we went for an oil change and when we got it back it would not even back out of our driveway. He is a salesman as I said before. He posted on Facebook on April of 2025 in search of a mechanic. Maybe he should post again and Hire a much better one.
They went above and beyond. I had a tire blow out and they don’t normally do this kind of service. I was in a bind due to the holiday and they happily took care of it very quickly. Much appreciated.
Absolutely amazing. It was a super cold morning and my car was just dead in the water. Came and gave me a jump and fixed my issue all with amazing service and professionalism. Will definitely be returning.
Had a coolant leak on our 2017 Ford Edge. Was very difficult to see where it was coming from. DJ was able to diagnose a leaky radiator, removed, replaced in a timely manner, and at a reasonable cost.

Neihaus is great! They are always reasonably priced, work me in when I need it, and are trustworthy. I never feel like I’m being charged unfairly. I hate taking my vehicle anywhere else, even for oil changes.

I genuinely can’t say enough phenomenal things about Niehaus Auto in Quincy, Illinois. I was more than just pleased—I was blown away by their incredible service. When I was still two hours out, I called around because no one else from Lake of the Ozarks to Quincy would help me on a Friday afternoon. Everyone else said trailer lighting issues would take too long to figure out. But DJ and his team went above and beyond in a way that was just remarkable. They rearranged their Friday night plans, stayed late, and had me back on the road in no time. Their pricing was a pleasant surprise—far less than I expected for the level of service—and they wouldn’t even accept dinner at on me. If you want a place that treats you like family and goes the extra mile, Niehaus Auto is absolutely the best service I have received even being from out of town.
My car wouldn't start, so they came and jumped it for me. I took my car in to get the battery tested. It needed to be replaced but single it was under warranty still I got the new one for free. Everyone there was very friendly and helpful.
Wonderful service! I dealt with Seth most of the time and he was amazing ! They go above and beyond to make sure that you and them are happy with the work! Speedy service, friendly environment! These guys were efficient, to the point, and didn't try upselling me. I dropped the car off in the morning and, even though they had to order a part, still had it done by the end of the day. The entire staff was friendly and honest. I'll be taking my business here from now in because I had a great experience.

immediate and attentive are the first words that come to mind!!! their genuine assistance had DJ, the one who was going to tow my car to another car place was there in literally 10 minutes when I assumed it would be the next day. the receptionist was so personable and quick to act too. DJ ended up not being able to find my car where it was located before, and instead of being frustrated with this, he went an extra step and gave me further directions. we got off the phone, not even two minutes later he called back again to tell me he had found out where my car was located and to call him if I needed any other help. although my car problems are still present, they are the very first people i will call for help.
This shop is ran by some of the most genuine people I've met. My fiancé and I were traveling from Fargo, ND to West Plains, MO and stopped in Quincy for the night and ran into car trouble. We hit a big bump and it looked like the car was leaking oil. Being 10 hours from home and 6 hours from our destination, we were a nervous wreck thinking we would be stuck in Quincy on the first night of our 7 day trip with not many options.
Niehaus was the only shop out of many that we called that offered to get it up on a lift to take a look at any potential damage. We were also nervous that it would be a very expensive (and time consuming) fix, and thankfully there was minimal damage and we were able to get on the road the same day.
The mechanic and the two ladies sitting at the desk were sincere and so friendly. They didn't charge us an arm and a leg and didn't take advantage of our vulnerable situation. They wished us well and sent us on our way. We are so thankful for their kindness and willingness to help us out last minute with our rotten situation. THANK YOU!
The guys at this shop did an amazing job helping us out. We were coming back from our Colorado vacation and got stranded on the side of the road near Quincy. We were 3 1/2 hours away from home when the ball barring went on our truck. 5 hours stranded on the side of the road in a town where we know no one and in the freezing cold. These guys took us right in and fixed our truck and even gave us a ride to a nearby hotel to warm up and sleep for a couple hours until our truck was ready. Very reasonable and fair and not overcharge you for services.They really cared and helped us and our family is forever grateful.
Quick but efficient at an affordable price. They came to tow my car for me within the hour that I called, and they fixed the problem faster and at a lower price than expected. Always very friendly on the phone and in person. Happy to explain things well so that you understand and not just boot you out the door. Would use them again for future auto services.
DJ, the owner of Neuhaus Auto was extremely friendly and helpful when i called about our issue. They had the vehicle picked up the same day and it was fixed by the next morning. The mustang has never driven better and we were surprised by the cost of repair. My wife and i expected it to cost so much more. We are thankful for the fast and quality service from DJ and his team and are glad to be back on the road!
My car blew a brake line and they got it back to me in a timely fashion. Came home with no new problems which is awesome. I was even notified about an issue that can cause my tire to blow out in the near future which can possibly save my life and others.

They are prepared for everything from dead batteries to full service, and will be prompt & honest about length of time for parts to arrive & hours of labor needed to do the job correctly. I had an excellent first time experience with Niehaus! My repair took two days longer than expected, due to the correct part needing ordered. Niehaus kept me informed of the entire process, and was upfront about the wait and price. They even put in a new battery free of charge in my car when they discovered it was old and dead in their parking lot, to help me out since my car was taking longer to expected to repair. Their prices are very fair as well. My car now runs like new! I highly recommend them, and know they will be having all of my future business!
Great service and knowledgeable mechanics. We had one mechanic at another shop tell us it was going to be 1,000’s of dollars to fix. Niehaus found the real problem and charged us &100’s saving us a lot of money and time. They are always good about checking with us about the price before starting any work. Always looking out for us.
