I have known my mechanic for 20 years, he has always been cool and collected, until recently when he dealt with this business. Business like this stay around because people have a need, its unfortunate that regardless of how often customers feel mistreated and cheated that other keep coming back. I only post reviews for two reasons, public knowledge of the experiences with the business, good or bad but also in hope that a business considers a review and changes their approach to business practices. Clearly this wont be a case where the business gets better, their positive reviews only come from the few times they happen to get it right, is like a flipping a coin, once in a while they will get a good engine an a customer will be satisfied, but clearly is not because of their, knowledge, inspection, concern, skills or customers services, its just plain luck. If you are contemplating doing business with them because you have a need, I get it... just flip a coin and good luck!
My purchase was through eBay And The pieces they sell don't correspond at all to what they show and send you. They show you one thing and you receive another, and they only excuse themselves by saying it's a stock image. The customer service is terrible, It took weeks to ship. The engine doesn't look like the description. It looks like a 6-year-old grabbed a can of paint and painted the engine, It just took us time and if you leave a bad review on eBay because they will delete it.
Took weeks to deliver, and engine lasted about 8 weeks before it started making a noise. K... responded once to the warranty request, and never again followed up. We sent pictures and left messages. He was rude and is still refusing to call back and make it right. Do not trust their products or expect them to honor the warranty. Update: eventually accepted our engine return but have been months waiting to be reimbursed.
Worst place to buy a engine I bought one off them thru eBay and lost about $3500 the engine has internal damage and they wouldn't replace it they told me to tear it down and they would see if they have parts for it they are the biggest scam going beware don't buy from them
Shipped the engine and arrived safely. However now after installing and buying parts for it. I realized they sent me a 2011 engine with VIN B and not 2013/14 WITH VIN D so some parts won’t fit. Trying to reach out but no answer. Hopefully I can get a refund or correct engine
They are terrible! I believe their engines are mostly attempted repairs. Bought from them on ebay, once installed it was knocking. Ebay customer service was very rude. Finally sent a different engine, did not work right either, it was visible they have attempted head gasket repair and did not do the timing properly. Had to send out the vehicle for proper repair after paying over 2k for an engine and installed it twice. I hope to never do business with this company!
I purchased a motor with A&A and was very satisfied any time I called they were very helpful and professional with any questions or concerns I had the motor I brought was very clean and was in great condition and I highly recommend them and I would definitely do business with them again
Wish i had read the reviews before purchasing anything from this company. The ebay reviews were mostly good so i thought i would give them a shot even though the engine i bought was twice as much as what i could get locally, i thought that meant i would truly be getting a better quality engine. The photos of the motor in the listing showed basically a refurbished looking motor, which is not what i got. When i received the engine, part of the oil pain was broken off, the valve cover had a large hole in it, using a scope to look in the hole, i found a random bolt laying in the oil galley which would have ruined the engine had i not noticed it. So far i have put about $1000 in parts to try to get this motor running, only to find out it also had a blown out intake gasket and cracked upper intake. Called the customer service person, possibly the owner, and was told to just take all the parts off my old motor. The whole reason i bought this engine is because it was supposed to be where i could do minimal work and drop the engine in and be going, turns out i have spent more trying to get this engine to run that i would have if i would have just gone to a local parts shop and ordered a refurb shortblock. While i understand the "extra" parts arent covered under warranty, just the fact that they sent me an engine with holes both in the valve cover AND oil pan and loose hardware rolling around inside the engine, i would have rejected the delivery had i been able to see it before getting it up on an engine stand. I would avoid this company and save yourself time and money by using someone who cares about repeat business. As a car builder, i purchase engines regularly and have never had an issue like this, and when my concerns were raised, i was told good luck.
honestly i read every single review before i bought an engine for my nv 2500 cargo van and i was not convinced at all however these guys are very close to home so i decided to go with it anyways and let me tell you god is good either i got lucky or you guys are very dramatic ... i bought a used engine with 70k miles on it only thing i replaced was idle puulley and fan belt and now it runs like is brand new again ! thank you A AND A i really appreciate you guys

I wish I read there reviews on here and other sites! I'm out 3k+ for installation and removal of the faulty engine they sold me, which came with internal damages. When I tried to get refund or replacement, I was cursed out by Alex the owner/manager accusing of improper installation. I had to tow my vehicle to 2 different mechanic shops for verification and they both stated the engine was faulty. I then had to dispute the charges through my credit card company which has taken over 5-6months and had left me with no car. This is the worst company to do business with. There engines are left outside in the rain and they paint them up so they can look refurbished. Stay away! Big headache! I wish I read the reviews on here and other sites!
I purchased an engine from this company and after I received and installed it I found out that this "low mileage" engine i spent almost $2000 dollars on. Had a bad rod knock. It's advertised on this companies website that these engine are inspected to the highest of quality standards. Everything this company advertised is a lie because the engine is got was complete garbage, a core basically. I contacted the company and they were insanely rude to me and refused to help me at all. I contacted the bbb and a lawyer and the business won't respond. I'll be making a trip to Florida in the next 2 weeks.
My motor arrived DAMAGED. It is not the motor that was in the picture that I was shown when I bought it. These people are a SCAM. Also, Alex in service has to be the rudest individual to have to ever deal with and also the main guy that answers the phone at the desk. These people will take your money and leave you with nothing but damaged parts. They are crooked.
Ordered a vq40de from this company and I must say. For the price I couldn’t be happier. You have to be realistic you’re not buying a brand new motor and the company is fully willing to pay for any damaged parts or replace your entire order if necessary. Follow their instructions and inspect what you can. I had a problem with just my timing chain after inspection and aa auto and truck refunded me the cost for a replacement kit. After repair the engine ran fantastic oil pressure good no over heating everything sealed well. Very happy and saved a ton had I bought a new motor.
I'm a small shop owner/ mechanic and I often use salvage yards like this one to source used engines for my customers. Right off the bat the most of the guys I talked to through the ordering process were not friendly or helpful and talked to me like I was an inconvenience. But the picture looked good and they claimed it had around 139000 miles on it, so I ordered it. About 4 months later my customer comes back with a coolant leak past the head gasket. I reached out to the "customer service" department and they said I was outside of the 90 days warranty. Okay, I understand that, I will replace the head gasket on my expense. But then as I tore into the engine I found that the timing chain guides were broken and the engine was in really rough shape. Not sludged up from poor maintenance, but like it probably had more like 239000 miles on it. Toyota made a good product in that era and the engines don't look that way at 139000 miles. I attached pictures so you can be the judge. All in all this experience has been bad and I will never purchase another item from this business. As the engine installer ordering online all I have to go off of are the pictures. If the pictures are nowhere close to the product that arrives, that seems like a scam.
Update, Both oil pan gasket and Main seal are leaking within 1000 miles, going to cost another $700 to get both fixed...Bought a 4.0 for my jeep cherokee xj. installed the motor and it started right up. Runs smooth and quiet. 4 stars because the valve cover was dented and had to swap it but all else is great. took about three weeks to get it. So far very happy with the engine...
I ordered an engine from these folks on EBAY and it took a month for the motor to arrive. When it finally did the mechanic installing the motor was replacing valve cover gaskets and found one of the cam lobes pretty severely scored. The mechanic contacted Alex and A and A Auto and Truck and it was conveyed to him that a replacement engine would be sent out. I, as well as the Automotive shop, have tried numerous times to get a call back from Alex as to when the replacement engine will arrive. In Alex's defense I believe he did try to call me back but we are 3 hours different in time zones so he called at 5:15 am my time. We are still trying to get a call back. Alex asks that only a Name and Phone number be left on the voicemail, no questions can be asked until he calls. Still waiting on that call.
In my opinion this is a BAD sellers. Do not buy from them. See the photos. This is a supposedly 78,000 mile engine I received from them. Cams were all pitted and scared. Engine had sludge and sand inside of it. They say i have to install engine and see if it fail during warranty period. If id does then remove it and send it back to them. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.
I recently purchased an engine for a very high price. The pictures showed a very clean looking engine with an intake manifold and all the sensors. I knew when I bought it that it didn’t come with accessories such as power steering ac water pump alternator etc. I read the full description including the part about only covering the block and heads but what I didn’t expect was the fact that I would need to have everything except the block and heads or buy it all new. The intake manifold was bad had a huge hole in it. I messaged customer service about this and was told they only cover the block and heads and that they don’t charge a core charge so that I can use all the parts off my other engine. Never heard of any place charging a core charge on an engine. I could off got an almost complete engine in state for $1000 cheaper but I went with A&A because theirs supposedly had only 92k miles and looked really clean. It looks clean because they spray painted everything. All the sensors and plugs. All the gasket surfaces and all the ground locations. Long story short I now have over 6k into a engine swap after paying their outrageous price and buying all new sensors and accessories. And a hour of cleaning up the engine with a wire brush. I hope that the engine internals are as good as they looked in the ad and not just pictures from another clean engine. So far everything has been very poor quality. Hopefully my review can save someone else the hassle and the money from dealing with A&A auto salvage.
I purchased two motors from this business. One of the motors had been underwater, and was rusted inside. It also had a cracked housing on the timer box. They never would come pick it up nor did they refund my money even with me notifying them right away.
The second motor has a thrown rod. And even though my mechanic told them the motor was not strong and had other issues they refused to refund that one or replace either of them. Beyond that they are rude and disrespectful… hang up on you, yell at you, refuse to even Answer the phones at times.
They should not be in business. They are ripping people off and selling junk motors as good engines.
I received my motor today. I was told I was buying a low mileage jdm motor with less than 100k miles.
The jdm motors DO NOT have oil coolers, this motor has the us spec waterpump (with outlets for oil cooler) and the oil cooler itself.
The service interval for timing belts is 80k-100k so IF someone did do the timing belt, it would be brand new and I doubt it would be a Gates belt.
The water pump has been leaking, again not am issue you see on these motors with less than 100k
Valve cover gaskets on these motors don't start leaking until well last 100k and the toyota gaskets are black, I can see the blue fel-pro valve cover gasket. The half moons are sealed with BLACK toyota fipg, they are sealed with an off white rtv.
There are painted over heat tabs on the block not branded A&A Auto
There are more bald spots in the crosshatching than on the motor I have with 270k on it.
This is not the motor I was told I'd be receiving, this is not what I paid for.
Don't buy from, they sell junk that sits in the rain open then they paint it. I bought a 2100.00 dollar piece of scrap, shouldve read the reviews. Purchased the engine and did not have a chance to install until the 90 days was up. Understand it was out of warranty, but engine sat inside my shop for 3 months until we got a chance to install it, it was totally ruined. No customer service, Alex is rude and says bro every other word as he tries to say inspirational quotes, that don't apply while he's not trying to help at all. "Bro you gotta wake up bro and look into the mirror and say bro, bro you gotta do it bro" there is bad people here.
So the engine I received was not at all like the one picture, it would have gotten a okay review but when I returned it they made me pay $600 shipping when they said it wouldn't cost me a penny! And the person I talk to you on the phone was not polite to speak to. The description on eBay mentioned only that long block was warrantied accessories were not guaranteed once it shipped they sent me an email and said it is shipped as long block only. And I needed you by everything including fuel rail ignition system valve body......
False advertising. They don't fallow any safety procedures like the post in the pictures. The motor on pictures is not the actually motor you'll be getting. I took delivery charge and motor arrived damaged, the man in charge of the warranty center threatened me that if I didn't take the delivery that day since he promised motor was fine I would get delivery fee charged for sending it back. ( the motor in fact was ticking and knocking) I'm looking to get a refund now after all the labor costs and still have no motor. Dealing with the warranty feels like a nightmare the man over the phone is very rude I think he feeds off that just arguing with people all day.
We Purchased and engine through Ebay may 1st. It took 5 weeks to be delivered. We installed it and it was no good. Called A&A which takes 2 to 3 days to get a return call from Alex who is polite enough but very hard to reach. He emailed the return procedure which we followed. He sent another engine which is no good. Now it is August 6 and and we are removing it to send back for a refund. We have to eat the labor of changing his engine twice now, plus source another engine. We are frustrated. They offer no labor help. I find it difficult to believe their multiple hour quality control process is done as described or if it is I question the competence of the people. Now we know buying on ebay has some risk but but 2 bad engines is frustrating. They were both supposed to be low miles. An apology would be nice. A little labor help in the form of money would be even better. Our company can not recommend A&A Auto and truck.
Got a engine that was not the one advertised on display picture and later told the picture that was displayed was stock image. The engine we received looked like it was wrecked or nose dived dropped. Had so many problems when check by our certified mechanic and told we paid too much for a severely damaged engine. Spoke with Alex at Auto and Truck and sent pictures he said the engine looked fine to him. Spoke to him a couple more times with rude comments and hung up on multiple times. Had to file a charge back and it turned into a big mess fighting with Visa because Alex lied to them on how he handled the situation. Visa will only hear the merchants side and he knew exactly what to say to them. Also lied to us on what our mechanic had discussed with him over the phone to us. Scam artist at its best and the we value our customers is a joke along with the warranty.. stay away from ebay listing from Alex.
Beware of what this company did to us and how they treated us. If you need advice ask me on FB I have emails and text messages from Alex.
This was all the problems so far from our mechanic
The engine fan is broken and water pump arm is bent and is now leaking fluids, oil pan bent, gaskets were no good, important parts of the engine were masked by spray paint.. who knows what else would had been wrong if installed completely.
UPDATE FROM WHOEVER RESPONDED PROBABLY ALEX.. The below statements are all lies to cover and everything that is stated we did is even more of a bigger lie. This is absolute ridiculous to even read a made up story as the one from the poor response lies from Auto and Truck. Stooping to the lowest just shows how far a narcissistic person will go.
Sold us a faulty engine through ebay. Engine failed after less than two months of driving/less than 2000 miles. Ordered a jeep wrangler engine which is a 3.8 inline. Opened up the failed engine and found out they sold us a town and country/caravan transverse engine which they poorly modified and butchered for it to fit the wrangler. The oil pump pickup tube was from the town and country setup which cannot be used with the wrangler oil pan because it is shorter and causes oil starvation. They deceived us by telling us the engine had 77000 miles, spray painted it and charged us $2000 for the engine. In short we asked for a partial refund but they (Alex) refused, got very ignorant and threatened to write us a bad review. Attached are the photos of the engine failure and poor workmanship. The engine also came with numerous screws missing from the oil pan, the oil pump pickup tube was loose and the wrangler mount bolt holes filled with rust (never came out of a wrangler like they kept insisting).
Got a JDM used engine from these guys for my 2005 Mazda 6S.
The motor runs like new, quiet and lots of power. My mechanic was surprised how nice the engine was.
Price was great and so was the service.
