State Parks are great but they lock the gate here at 6pm and we would have been screwed if a fireman hadn't help us. $22 to camp is a great deal but then they rob you of $7 of electricity whether you want it or not and $6.70 for a booking fee. And there's not a lot here unless you've got horses

Nice state camp ground. Helpful people. The campsites are clean. They have power and water. Dump station. No sewer.

This is a wonderful place people say in the summertime it's pretty harsh we lived out there in the summertime and I tent there is plenty of shades if you get the right spots showers and bathrooms are very clean and we love the campground host on campground lot 1 it wasn't for their generosity and helping advice I don't think we will survive the four months of being homeless

Very quite park even though it is located near Hwy 200. The staff is very helpful and friendly. It has pull through camping spots and a dump station. It has been an enjoyable stay.

I would give this place 4.5 stars honestly if I could, but I don't want to drop it to 4 ?. It was a very nice, quiet park with crushed shell over the roads and driveways. I can see why they may have done this, but in my opinion gravel would be much better as the shells can be sharp and hurt. I was worried about my pups paws on walks because of this. All sites are pull through which was nice. We were in 12 and it felt like a decent size site not too close to the neighbors (and not too far away either which was nice since we were camping with friends who stayed in sites 3 & 11 and we were able to see both from our site and communicate easily). There aren't many trees for shade, but it was pretty cloudy for most of our stay so we weren't bothered by the lack of shade. It was a little strange that the bath house is outside the fence, but not a huge deal. Facilities seemed clean and well maintained. The camp hosts were absolutely amazing humans as well! Overall we enjoyed our stay and would camp here again in a heartbeat.

Bath house is a bit of a walk but clean and well maintained. Park staff is friendly and helpful. Should be listed as a dark sky campground. Wonderful sky gazing opportunities.

This is a great campground if you like mountain biking! The skills park was hours of fun for my kids and the trails were WAY better than I expected. Bathhouse is really nice. The sites are good. The only problem is road noise during the day but that just means you’re close to shopping if you need it. We’ll be back.

I walk my dog here every day. There are multiple trails and most users are respectful and keep their pets leashed and pick up the poop. My only negative comment is there is only one waste receptacle located near the shelter and it is always overflowing with garbage.

Not much night lighting so pretty nice stargazing. Nice connector trails to the Marjorie Carr Greenway and Florida National Scenic Trail. Restrooms very nice. Campsites close and wide open, but pretty level and adequate.

We stopped in to see the campground and hiking areas ( there is also a trailhead for horseback riding). The campground is small 16 sites. The sites are all pull through and the area is clean. We talked to the camp host he was very friendly and informative. The bathhouse was clean and well kept.

Great place to pick up the south trails. Ern and Burn is the best blue trail in my opinion. Good elevation changes and a couple of technical areas will challenge you. You can easily reach 49th trailhead through Ern by going under the underpass connector of Ern and Burn then onto Nayls trail. Some hikers and horse riders, watch out.

Great place to stay if you're planning on exploring the surrounding towns. Park Hosts are super nice and let us have an adapter when we broke the electricity(not really). Loved it!!!

Nice campground. Plenty of space for campers, vehicles, etc. You can have horses or not have horses, either is fine. Close to Ocala and the charming town of Micanopy. We gave it 4 stars because of the bathroom. The bathroom is quite far from the campground since it's shared with the trail nearby. Also the bathrooms were freezing because there is no heat at all. It would be nice to have heat.

Beautiful natural park with awesome trials for hiking or biking. Nice area for horses as well.

Small state park with electric, 50, 30, 20 amp sites and water hookups. There's a dump station included with nightly fees. I think it is $22 a night, but I get a senior FL resident discount, so I paid $11 per night. There's a $7 per night electric fee. There's a lot of equestrian trails, and you can bring your trailer/horses to ride in the preserve. The camp hosts are very nice people. There's a tree next to must sites and a fire ring, although I can't fathom needing a fire as hot as it is in FL right now. Dunnellon is a cute little town and has most things you might want, fast food, sit down homestyle restaurants, gas (although gas prices are crazy at $3.65 for regular lead-free). There's even a WalMart. The gates to the campground are locked at 7 pm, but you get a code to exit/enter as you need. It's a small park but sites are level, are all pull through and fit bigger rigs. All in all a nice place to be.

Kinda close to SR200, so at times, road noise is kinda loud, but overall, it is a good place to rest for a couple of days. Nice trial. There's not really much water in the lake or any for that matter . This Campground is set up for equestrian users. Riding trails close by,stays busy from what i have seen.

Small campground, good for solar rigs with the lack of trees. Single bathroom shared with daypark. There is traffic noise due to close proximity to the highway. Easy access to great trails from park. Was very quite and chill during my visit. Friendly camp host checked power breakers on our check in. Access to the Florida Greenway trail.

Some road noise but lots of trail access for people, horses, bikes. Well laid out and helpful hosts. Bathrooms are nice even while water pressure is very low, water is plenty warm. I will be returning!

An awesome little place. The rangers are the friendliest in the state. Great horse trails and bike area. Picnic tables and grilling always clean.

Small and nicely kept, h a s a really nice trail. We did the walking, but one can bike or bring horses. The only negative is that it is very close to Rte 200, and there is road noise.

We enjoyed the primitive camping site. It had a firepit with a grate and a picnic table. It was cozy and peaceful.

I am a scoutmaster of a boy Scout Troop and I can tell you that their group area is absolutely beautiful and super nice. The camp host was extremely helpful. The bathrooms are sufficient and very clean. This provides nearby access to bike trails or a short drive to santos. To be aware that for the group area there's a few hundred yard walk from the parking area where you have to unload your gear to the campground. But that's what makes the campground so beautiful is the seclusion from the regular camping spots.

This park is a great little camp ground. Our camp host Paula was friendly, informative and answered all our questions about the area! We’ll be traveling through again in a few months and definitely will stay again! If you like walking trails, large camp sites and clean bathrooms with large showers check this place out! If you found this helpful, please give us a thumbs up!

Nice, small campground. Clean. Staff was very nice. Fun trails to go for a walk about. Bath room is a little bit of a walk depending where your site is but they were serviced and clean. Large showers! There was some road noise but once in my camper I could not hear it.

Honestly, if I could give this place negative Stars I would! We had three tents, and were charged $30 to share a strip of grass with an rv! Whose motion censored floodlight kept blinding us and flooding our campsite with obnoxious bright light all night. No privacy,no trees, and the campground host was extremely rude to us! It was next to a highway so you listen to cars hitting the rumble strip all night long. I couldn't even believe it was a state park, it felt like we were parked and camping in a Walmart parking lot! Very disappointed will never go here again. If you have a camper and just need a place to stay for the night sure I'm sure it's fine. But if you have a tent and actually enjoy camping, do not go here.

We have enjoyed our stay at Ross Prairie. The State Park could have more to offer, but the campground is nice and accessible.Convenience to Rainbow Springs & Ocala was GREAT. Kind hosts too! The roadway noise is what keeps this from a 5 star review.
Sep 15, 2020 -
The park was clean and well kept. The bathrooms were wide and nice. The space for each camper is wide so you don’t have to see your neighbors too close. The path to go walking was nice and clean and well marked. It was a close drive to the Rainbow Springs. Due to COVD19 we couldn’t get in the rainbow park but there are other places to float from and they are near ross prairie. I recommend it.

Gary was an a great host and got us in last minute with no questions asked. Not much shade in the RV area as some other reviews mentioned, but each site does have a small tree, fire pit, and picnic table. Bathroom and shower area was also in side but never used. It was great for the quick 1 night we needed it for. There are trails for hikers and horses, but that's kind of it. Would stay again for sure if need be.

Really nice and clean. Best camp showers I have ever seen(ladies anyway) was surprised at the road noise, but if you are in a camper, it's no problem. Horse trails are nice and well marked
