They stated they would fix the transmission on my 2017 honda but was told they need 600 dollars to take a look n if i deceided i didnt want them to fix it they will charge additional fees i told the manager Mike to not touch the car do not perform ant work he stated he had cars before me to work on i asked if the car will be okay there because of the holiday .he stated it was ok i called him following week to get my car towed from there .i was charged additional fees / diagnostic when they did no work. I paid because i wanted my car back but no corporate number to call n while i was there another client stated theypaid 7,900 on them supposedly re building their transmission only for it to completly break down ..the place is a Scam would not reccomend .only gave 1 star so i can write a review

Purchased a transmission from them and the communication was good until the purchase was made. We had issues with the first transmission - JB Weld was on the bell, pan was full of metal, and leaking transmission fluid. I called and spoke with Terry (and sent photos) and he advised to pull it out and they would fix/replace transmission and pay for replacement to be installed, and transmission fluid. We went to pick up the second one and had it installed and no problems with it so far. Invoice was sent for replacement to be installed and transmission fluid. Almost a month later, I finally got to speak to Pat ( what a joke - very unprofessional) and was advised that claim would not be paid due to it being the person that installed the transmission's fault (after I called several times a week and was told that everything was fine and they even verified the mailing address where to send payment to).I tried calling Terry and Pat during that month and left voicemails and they didn't even have the respect to return a phone call and speak with me about this matter - NOT VERY PROFESSIONAL of AMERICAN TRANSMISSION !! All they care about is the money and NO customer service whatsoever. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

They will say they will replace your transmission with a new one, but they only rebuilt it. They will tell you they will rebuild your transmission without doing so and rack up miles on your vehicle. Then, when the "rebuild" fails, they will bandaid fix it until your warranty runs out and wait you out of your warranty, which is about to get them shut down, and is already getting them sued. Unless you want a reason to join the class action lawsuit, stay away from this shop. In fact, I wouldn't leave your vehicle there at all, because it absolutely will sustain exterior damage, and then they want you to pay to fix it. They break working parts on your vehicle so there's an excuse for why their work doesn't hold up. It's WILD work. See yas in court :)

Crooks! BEWARE! They will swindle you!
Wouldn’t honor warranty on transmission they rebuilt, then messed with and broke another part in our car and wanted us to pay to fix it.
They rebuilt a transmission and installed it in our car last year, and gave us a one year warranty on it. About a month ago it started having transmission issues and we took it to a different shop, just to get checked.
The first shop (which is highly trusted in Jax) checked the transmission fluids, and said the fluids were good and to take it back to the people who rebuilt it since it’s under warranty.
So we did.. the next day…and it sat in their lot, for over two weeks, before they even looked at it. After looking at it, they claimed the transmission Fluid line had a leak, which is what caused the transmission issues. Sus since the fluids were fine when we dropped it off.
They wanted to charge us the price of a newly rebuilt transmission. Even though it’s under warranty. Claiming they won’t cover it because the leak is our fault. crooked.
Then, after having our car for over 4 weeks and wrongfully having to paying them… our car died again, two weeks after getting it back from them. Took it back and they said it was the rear driveshaft.
Surprise surprise they say it’s our fault and want more money to fix it.
EVEN THOUGH THEY ADMITTED TO THE FACT THAT THEY PULLED THE DRIVESHAFT OUT ENABLE TO FIX THE TRANSMISSION.
But they said it couldn’t possibly be their fault. Shocking….

On Oct 17,2025 I called and spoke with Patrick he’s a service advisor. Told him my transmission was slipping out of 2nd and 3rd. But if I drove it aggressive it was fine. Quoted me 5,375.00. For remanfactured transmission for a 2013 Tahoe. 5 year 100,000 warranty. It would take a week. We talked for maybe 5 minutes said I would bring it on Tuesday. It was Friday when we talked. Said I would be there around 2 or 3.
Tuesday I showed up at 1:30pm. He was not there. Out to lunch. I was frustrated he was not there. They wanted all my info. I kept saying Patrick knows everything. So I had to explain everything again. Then they said they had to get a quote. Again I said Patrick gave me one already. They said ok we signed some paperwork and left. No phone call from Patrick saying hey sorry I missed you or nothing. I waited the next day after I dropped it off for a phone call. Never called. So I called again to make sure he knew it was there. I called he said the total now came to 5,750. I said why he said taxes. I said you already quoted me an out the price of 5,375. He says well let me see what I can do. He said well I can knock off 200. I asked if they have a first responders discount he said yes we can talk about that later.
No phone calls at all letting me know the progress with the vehicle. Monday came figured I should call to see if it would be done by Tuesday as he said. He says I’m not sure. Call me tomorrow afternoon they are still putting it back together.
Every time I called the representative would put me on hold to talk to Patrick. One time I called I said can you just tell me will my car be ready. They said only Patrick can talk to me about my vehicle. Are you serious? If I call a shop they should be able to say what’s going on with my vehicle. So I had to call back. I called around 230 he said it will be done by 6pm do you want to come get it? I said yes. I show up around 520 pm. Again Patrick is nowhere to be found. Waited about 30 minutes lady called us up and says it’s ready. Hands me two papers had to sign one of them she then says it’s a 3 year 100,000 mile warranty. I again asked to speak to Patrick they said he was busy. They just wanted their money. So I paid. Still didn’t get the first responders discount. Wondering if anyone was going to explain anything about the transmission if there’s a break in period or anything else I needed to know. They just said Thank you be careful driving home.
I never saw Patrick. He only called me one time on Tuesday after I called. But other than that never called for anything. Never even seen him. There was absolutely no communication from Patrick. Spend that kind of money. Just expected more communication. The transmission they put in is very nice so far. That is the best part about going there so far. I will edit this and advise if anything happens in the coming months.Oct 29, 2025 -
Unfortunately, my recent automatic transmission replacement turned out to be a huge disappointment. The transmission was improperly mounted, causing numerous operational issues that weren’t present before the repair. New problems emerged immediately after the service. Communication with the service center was difficult, and attempts to resolve the issues were unsuccessful. I definitely do not recommend this company if you value professionalism and reliability.

I have my car at the shop, it's very professional and take care of you. Like your number one. That's the way it should be. They welcome me with arms open and they seem like they're very honest and upfront with you. I was very impressed with Patrick and Pat. They were very professional and easy to deal with , Thank you so much. It is hard today to find somebody that cares about the customer. That's the way we do business

I rarely leave reviews, but my experience with American Transmission was so frustrating that I felt compelled to warn others. They have a horrible transmission and after getting 2 others they all suck. They don’t stand behind there warranty. Communication with Terry throughout the entire process was poor. I was constantly calling trying to reach someone and they don’t answer. When I reached someone I got a different story. On top of that, they were dismissive and made me feel like I was the problem for expecting reliable work. I ended up getting their transmission fixed from a reputable place that costed more money. Avoid at all costs

Second rebuilt transmission I've had from this shop and its doing the same thing again, puking transmission fluid out the vent tube, man tried to tell me its the dowel pins in the bell housing, then he tried to tell me its the transmission cooler, this shop is straight garbage, absolutely horrible, they dont know what they're doing, run away very quickly from this shop. Transmissions rebuilt by this place are garbage, customer service is garbage, the shop is garbage, now im stuck in limbo with another transmission problem that should have been fixed the first time but thats asking way to much these days.

Let’s start with they had our car for 3 weeks when it shouldn’t have took that long (missed appts , graduations , lost my job bc I had no one to get me there it’s pretty far & uber was expensive )& finally when I got it back the same day right after I pulled out the engine light came on again , car feels heavier & slower . Can’t get up fast . They ran my gas out & now it beeps everytime I turn off or start the car .

Shout out to Mr. Mike at American Transmission! My vehicle has been in and out the shop since January 28th of this year with Transmission issues. Finally took it to A.T. and they got me back on the road. I called and was able to bring my vehicle in the same day. The tech did a awesome job diagnosing my vehicle and they let me know the next day what was wrong. Everyone there was awesome and very professional.

Horrible experience with an automobile repair shop located at 5337 Beach Blvd. I possess payment receipts and work order invoices to support claims.
January 2, 2025, I took my 2009 Impala to American Transmission for service because the temperature gauge indicated the car was overheating, and the message center displayed "Turn off A/C Engine overheated." Additionally, the fuel gauge was not functioning. January 3, 2025. We paid $802.58 for the repairs.
January 6, 2025, we returned the car to American Transmission the fuel gauge was still not working. This time, we were told that the fuel gauge issue was due to a faulty fuel pump. We agreed to the repair and authorized a complete brake service. January 14, 2025, We paid $1,518.90.
January 15, 2025, took car back to American Transmission because the engine light was on, the rear seat was not reinstalled properly, and there was an oily substance on the seat. We were informed that a faulty part had been installed.
February 10, 2025, we returned to American Transmission once again because the temperature gauge stopped working, and the message center displayed "Turn off A/C Engine overheating." We were advised to replace a water pump, thermostat, and fluid replacement. On February 12, 2025, we paid $741.12 for this.
On February 19, 2025, we returned to American Transmission once more because the temperature gauge had stopped working again, and the message center displayed the same overheating warning. February 24, 2025, having not heard back from American Transmission. The assigned service writer stated that this time the car needed an Engine Control Module replacement.
This experience has been mentally and financially challenging, and my intent is to inform others so they can make informed decisions regarding this establishment. I find their moral values and business practices to be untruthful and not in the best interest of the paying customer. Total spent: $3,062.60.

I broke down 239 miles out of JAX. I thought it was transmission problems. American Transmission has done work for Me two other times absolutely perfect job. Starting with phone calls from out of town. I paid to have my Hummer towed to them. I only trusted them from prior experiences. I can’t give them enough praise for all that they did for Me. Turns out the transmission was fine it was the catalytic converters which acted like transmission problem. They got right out it and got Me back on the road

Chris long is the best sales rep I have ever had an experience with, being in the parts department at a dealership, being able to call or text him and get the information I need makes the interaction just even more better. He has went above and beyond my expectations as a preferred vendor. He is my first call when it comes to anything transmission wise!!

Needed to have my 68RFE transmission rebuilt. Spoke to Mike the shop manager. I ended up doing their HD trans rebuild. About 3-4 months afterwards my rebuilt trans was having some shifting issues. Called Mike he said get it in and let them work see what the issue is. Ended up speaking to one of their Head techs Pat. He knew my trans. After a few days they got it fixed. Mike called me everyday to let me know what was going on and what could be causing the issues. These guys did a great job and stood behind their work. Transmission is working great again. I fixed my transmission with this American transmission for my 2017 Honda pilot elite.and spent $7500 and still stop running my car on the road.and when I sent my car back to repair to their shop and then they told me that I have yo. Hanger fuel pumps and some other stuffs to replace and fix.and charge me $2500 dollar again so this things happened 3 times and finally I sold my car and trade with Tesla model y electric cars.
So please I advised you don’t go to this American transmission to fix your car problem.otherwise they will rip you off with money and make you broke without fixing car.so basically this people are crooks and thief and make all customers full.Apr 16, 2025 -
If I could give zero stars I would. I only brought my car to this place as it was given to me by my warranty company as an in network place. The first problem is they do not take appointments. The second issue is they expect you to drop off your car. That is not an option for me. They did tell me it could take all day. I arrived at 7 am to avoid it taking me all day. 3 hours later when I asked for an update based on what he had to say sounded like they hadn't even looked at my car. However since we were dealing with the warranty company if they had done their due diligence they would've discovered that my car was still under the manufacturer warranty and the problem was still covered under that warranty and the extended warranty wouldn't cover the cost due to this fact.

Have used American on multiple occasions and have had nothing but positive interactions with the crew. Our sales rep, Chris Long, has been outstanding with any questions or issues we have had. Will continue to use them going forward for any transmission needs we have!

Had to purchase a new transmission while vacationing in FL. Noticed issues within a month. Called original shop, was told to bring it back. We reside in NC so had to make arrangements.
7/12/24
Drove truck back to FL. A month later, picked up truck, drove back to NC. Less than a month, rumble strip shaking. Called shop, was advised to take truck directly to American Transmission as warranty was through them.
10/4/24
Drove to FL. After 20 days of truck is ready-not ready-no answers, picked up truck. Drove home on the 24th. FOUR days later, truck shifting hard.
After many calls to American and not receiving any calls back, took truck to local shop. Was advised it was sticking in 6th gear. Shop called American to discuss issue, which then American agreed to look at truck again.

Drove to FL. American says it’s fixed again.
12/2/24
Truck shaking violently. Towed back to NC shop. They noticed a crimped/broken wire with electrical tape around it due to transmission install. Repair cost $1958.60
12/30/24
Truck still not shifting properly. Drove truck back to FL, to original shop who put in a new transmission.
Bottom line: American gave us the complete runaround. Failure of communication, failure of ownership and faulty work. We received no monetary compensation for wiring failure. As they stated, a rat probably chewed through it after install. Maybe they should hire the rat. He’s great with electrical tape!Mar 18, 2025 -
Excellent company! I have ordered through American transmission several times. Everytime I order I am impressed with the quality of the transmissions and transfer cases I have ordered. I contact American transmission first when I quote a transmission for a customer of mine. Dusty makes it very simple and easy. 5 stars truly !!

Great Service!!
From the time I walked in the door I knew I was in good hands. Kim at the front desk greeted me even before I reached the service counter. My truck tranismisson needed replacement and upgrading as I am wanting to retire and pull a travel trailer everywhere. I spoke to Keith jr. who listened to my in depth questions as I wanted to know everything about such a serious part of my powertrain. He patently answered every question focused on me, even though there was a flury of activity by several employees around us. While in the waiting room waiting for a ride, I noticed how clean everything was....spotless, floors, walls, windows, bathroom, door handles, everything. It is like a show room with all the comforts of home including the most comfortable furniture. Not at all like any other mechnicacs shop I've been in.
A few days later upon my return to pick up my truck, I had a problem with my payment as my bank unknowing had a security limit on my card. I had arived 10 minutes before closing and strighting it out took me until 20 minutes after closing. Brooke the cashier without complaint worked with me and pulled out all the stops to make this embarrassing situation easy. She was a service champion, never once did she appear to be troubled. In fact she made light of the situation even though it was a late day for her.
I highly recomend American Transmission and the wonderful people who make it work. And as for my transmission, it sounds and works like new!! Thank you guys for the great work and the option for the nationwide 3 year /100,000 mile waranty!Mar 03, 2025 -
I had a great experience with Keith and his team. I brought my car in with some complex issues, they were able to diagnose, fix, and communicate efficiently until my car came out of the shop. I would highly recommend bringing your vehicle in for service as they did me right!!

Mike and Dusty were great! Professional and made sure ALL would fit when we were stranded 7 hours south! Kim in accounts made sure all was squared away in a timely manner!! Only suggestion for improvement would be better communication between departments (back to front) for faster payment and changing directions of credit card process to scan/email and NOT FAX! That’s so old school. LOL

My first experience last year was really good. The technicians were honest and worked quickly to get me back on the road. Mike kept me informed the whole time they had my car. I just took it back today for another issue and am sure they will get it fixed.

I can’t say enough great things about this shop. I road-tripped to Florida from Massachusetts and as soon as I got to the place I was staying my transmission had crapped the bed. This shop was amazing and got my car back up and running within my 5 day stay so I’d be able to make it back home. Billy was amazing and had clear communication throughout the entire time my car was with them. The ladies at the front desk were amazing and so friendly even though I probably annoyed them with many phone calls. Even when I got back to Massachusetts, Terry in their warranty department was extremely helpful and so incredibly kind helping me find a shop close to home to get my car in for a check-up on their work. This shop truly went above and beyond for me and I can’t thank them enough. Will definitely be returning if I find myself having car troubles down in Florida again.

Absolutely trust in them to get your car right! They were upfront on what it would cost to rebuild my cummins transmission and was exactly what it cost on pick up! On top of that the turn around was exactly what they Said for complete trans overhaul! KEITH JR was the best , got me my truck back fast and RIGHT. Not one issue from the trans now!!! Great pricing as well, $2700 for complete rebuild and to r and r the trans! After bringing it to ammco trans, definitely don't trust ammco, wouldn't rebuild trans and quoted 7k. GO HERE TO AMERICAN TRANSMISSION, and ask for KEITH JR. From business owner to another, thank you for getting my big truck right again!!!

I called and they were very helpful on the phone. Went I brought my car for repairs Edwin was incredible helpful and great to work with…..they called me when my repair was finished and picking it up was as easy as dropping ig off. Besides doing a great job with my repair they even cleaned my car. Great all around experience!
