Dude answering the phone is dumber than a bag of rocks, had to say the part 4 times, which side the of the vehicle the part was for probably another 4 times. Rather just pay full price than navigate that stupidity again. I need the right part not whatever you think you heard.
Good place to search for random parts, but you have to know what you're looking for and bring the tools to get it yourself. Never had to request any parts- both times I've been there, staff has been limited/busy, but happy to answer questions if you can catch them when they're free.
I had called on multiple occasions looking for a part to which they took my info. Never got a call back so I decided to call them again for an update and they had questioned me like I never called before despite taking info. After a while i decided to go in person and ask about some parts. The person working the front desk was on the phone (talking about their personal life) and I was ignored until after 5 minutes they get off the phone and ask what part Im looking for. They take the info and that was it before they got back on the phone and after standing around for a little bit someone comes out with one of the parts I was looking for. As for the pricing... it was a tad high and I could have bought oem for cheaper. This was my experience and if anyone would like to clarify I would gladly hear it out.
I called for an engine for my truck and was told they had one and could have it for me next day. Called back next day and was told it was almost a week out unless I wanted to go pick it up in Hartford. Was told they would see what they could do and would call me back and never did. I called back again and talked to a lady and she told me she would see what was going on and would call me back and has now been two weeks and still haven't heard anything
Been going here for 30 years. Good place to get a used battery or have cars junked. Ive brought 6 of my old cars here over the years. No complaints. Many years ago I remember the owners mother passed away. I went there to boyds that day for a radiator I desperately needed for my monte. I did not call 1st. They were closed but I happened to catch the fella there cleaning stuff up in the house next door. He took the time to help me find a radiator and used the hose on the hose to check for leaks. It took a good 30 to 45 minutes and again his mom just passed. It was on his mind enough to talk about it. Super nice guy who helped me out as a young man. Needed my car for work. It's why Ill always go there.
What a shame.we just moved here and was looking forward to serving Boyd’s as we definitely had some good business to give them. However the Lack of communication and was told they have vehicles holding a part I needed but it was out back somewhere and they weren’t going to go look for it, turned my head elsewhere. Best of luck aside from my experience I have heard good things.
Great used parts , rims and tires ,etc. lots of inventory, constantly changing, great spot for do it your selfers , and or not in the budget for brand new , electric components are pre tested , great place
Needed to junk an old car before I moved. They came early in the morning the day after I called and made the process super easy. Between the phone call and them loading up the car it only took like 15-20 minutes total. Got a decent price for it too.
Very reasonable pricing on a used engine that I got from them. And they loaded it on my truck for me! The engine ran perfectly and was very clean inside when I pulled the valve covers to replace the gaskets. I would definitely call them first if/when I need another salvaged part such as an engine or transmission.
They're people just like us, they gotta make a few dollars, but they've always been helpful, respectful, and fair with me. I made my first visit about 30 years ago, their attitude has not changed, you're treated as a valued customer and friend.
I had a car to get rid of AND I needed tires for my new car. Boyd's had an excellent pair of tires to fit my new car (very unusual size). After making arrangements to pick up my old car for $150 I asked if maybe the tires could be put on the wrecker and they agreed!!! So I got a check for $100 and I saved a trip to Norwich because my new tires were on the wrecker per my request!!! AWESOME customer service! Thanks so much Boyd's!!!
Rude staff and high prices, feels as though they would rather not sell anything than help a customer. Went on several occasions and was treated poorly each time. Although it is a junkyard, one shouldn't have to worry about talking to the "right guy" to receive good customer service.
Good selection of parts.
Lousy customer service. The times I've gone I've been treated more like an annoyance than a customer. I don't expect great customer service at a salvage yard, but at least be halfway decent to the people coming through the door. The reality is that the people coming to buy parts will send others there and often are 'backyard mechanics' that do a bit of work for friends and family. These people are what will keep you going when times are tough.
