Don’t come here unless you have an entire day free to get the simplest services taken care of. Shoutout to Keith who was really nice, but JFC you will wait HOURS. I’m just trying to get my out-of-state license changed and it’s already been more than a four hour process and I’m still waiting. Least efficient DMV I’ve ever been to. This place makes the DMVs in Florida look like a Chick-fil-a drive thru line.

I did my permit and road test in this location, to be honest I had a great experience in both . But I’m surprised about how good one of the instructor was .( Tim , not sure if I spell it right )was very patient and trustful. I really love his service. 10/10 . I’m satisfied with his service.

Johnathan’s the perfect kind of instructor for those anxious to take their road test! Super friendly, patient & reasonable, gives a sufficiently succinct rundown of what to expect during the test, and overall very pleasant. Same thing for the man handling the paperwork at the front desk, was reasonable and respectful despite that I’d forgotten a R229 form. Otherwise, the security at the front could use some help in how to deal with people in a respectful manner while being orderly. Sometimes people say silly things when they’re anxious, let’s not ridicule them for that, it isn’t cool nor is it funny :)

The road test people in the back are completely rude is disrespectful towards our group. There’s a security guy there that was rude. And there’s another guy who just makes comments left and right that’s absolutely disrespectful. You guys need to be more respectful and understanding towards non native English speakers. We went there twice in two days with different appointments and both times we had to deal with same disrespect from both of them. The DMV seriously needs to look into their workers. Treat everyone with fairness and understanding.

If you’re nice, they’re nice. Plain and simple! I came with a complex issue and they were able to solve it in 30 mins. The rest I can do online! Thank you!

The staff behavior was extremely rude, especially those who stands outside the knowledge test room. Their responsibility is to assist candidates; however, instead of helping, they made negative comments when questions were asked or when someone faced difficulties during the test. Overall, it was a disappointing and uncooperative experience.

Horrible staff, everyone looks like they hate there job. The way they discriminate people is disrespectful. Ashley was very rude not friendly at all which made us even more nervous. I highly recommend them getting new staff.

I dislike star reviews. 3 for room for improvement, and top commendations for Cynthia @ Wethersfield and those who helped to resolve the problem caused by the call center staff. I try to support all those I engage with, especially those engaging the public, who can be demanding. An individual named Jessica at the call center needs to be removed. She behaves crazy and is abusive. We have spoken to her more than once this year, is she the only one answering the phone? She needs a break, should be in a non public facing role - but would she still fail and do harm because she hates people, is losing it or is just an abusive individual. She is dishonorable, and behaves abusively. Both times the assistance sought was not given and in it's place was hate for the caller. Listen, we hate people sometimes too. We aren't in the public facing job of answering the phone at a state agency and can only imagine some of the vitriol and demanding callers. Maybe the DMV should have a message saying they expect callers to be respectful of DMV staff, maybe this will help call takers to be supported and not become hateful and abusive

I am filing a formal complaint for racism and xenophobia regarding my experience at the DMV in Wethersfield on November 19, 2025, at 2:45 PM. I arrived with the complete document checklist required for the learner’s permit application. I photographed all my documents, including my I-20, I-94, and the Social Security ineligibility letter, address, passport, visa etc exactly as listed on the official website. If a student is not legally enrolled, immigration does not issue an I-20, which I clearly presented. When my name was called, the two ladies in the corner began laughing, which can be confirmed by the cameras. The manager who came to assist was extremely rude and did not check any of my paperwork. She immediately demanded a school transcript, which is not part of the requirements. She showed no understanding of the rules for international students and even accused my documents of being false! This behavior is discriminatory and xenophobic. The manager raised her voice, refused to review the required documents, and refused to provide a written request for my school. After I left, she and another staff member approached me near the door in an intimidating manner, trying to discourage me from filing a complaint. This can also be confirmed by the cameras; at that moment, I was on the phone with my school agent to request an additional document. Please review the footage from 2:45 PM. It will show that my documents were never checked, despite the fact that I followed the official checklist correctly. Meanwhile, many undocumented individuals are allowed to obtain licenses without being treated with this level of hostility. I am a legal immigrant and was humiliated! International students are legally allowed to apply for a driver’s license. I have over 20 years of driving experience and am simply trying to follow the law. This behavior is unacceptable, embarrassing, unprofessional, and discriminatory, specially in a multicultural community. You cannot accuse me about providing false documents and denied a legal immigrant access to the drive license. Last question: if the manager was right, why did she leave her work area to come to the front door and harass me while I was on the phone? She tried to intimidate me so I wouldn’t file a complaint. It's recorded, dmv have thousands of cameras.

What is the point of making an appointment if we are going to be stuck waiting anyway!? I have been here for a half hour i will update when this ends. Also this place looks like trash on the inside. Edit : two hours and 10 minutes of my life, but I will never get back. I guess you’re legally supposed to transfer your out-of-state license within 30 days of moving, but thanks to me not owning a vehicle. I was able to put it off for four years. I waited until my license was about to expire to do that and this experience of the DMV made me very happy that I waited because I’m not giving you guys more time and money than I absolutely have to The only satisfying thing about this experience is that with my new ID, I was able to remove myself as a registered organ donor. If you are wondering why, do some searching on the Internet about how corrupt that industry is. Don’t give those vultures your organs.

The road test was very stressful because instructions were given too quickly in English, which is hard for non-native speakers. Some staff outside were dismissive. I urge DMV to treat all applicants with patience and fairness, as licenses are essential for education, work, and daily life.

Absolute trash organization. No notifications. No assistance. People are all freaking rude. No information given about the issues at hand. Nevermind there is never any appointments available! Probably would HAVE been better to go private. Idk. Do better.

Since 8/13/2005 More than two week already I am waiting for my driving license. I can't go to work. I'm had work out side of the town 100 miles far away, What kind of policy or law is this? You guys can print out this card in DMV.better than outsourcing work now it's 2025 please think about practically...please change the old school model...

I needed to change my name on my title of the car I own. I recently got married and I knew I would have to change my name on multiple documents. I thought with common sense they my car title would be one. I was incorrect which I found out after, being able to book the appointment, having an email exchange with workers, and then information that I had looked up online. I was able to book an appointment on the website to change the name on my title, and then I sent a follow up email explaining the exact reason why I wanted the appointment and I asked for clarification for what documentation I should bring in order to be efficient and not waste anyone’s time. Then after waiting over an hour for my appointment that I was early for— I got to the desk and was told that I was not able to change the name on my title as the DMV does not change names on titles. The gentleman was nice about it and apologized that I had waited so long and drove all the way there to get that response. I was upset understandably as it took a LOT of time out of my day. I exited the building but I re-read the email I received from the title department of the DMV and I saw they never mentioned that my appointment was unnecessary or that I misunderstood the process. Given this incredibly conflicting information I went back into the building to try and speak with someone else. The woman who I ended up speaking with was condescending and rude. Granted, I was slightly curt and annoyed about the situation, but her attitude was far worse. She called me either “sweetie” or “honey” which either one is extremely rude because I am a grown adult woman. And she told me that they don’t do name changes to titles. When I asked to confirm if she was sure because of the conflicting information I had been given, in the email and additionally, in the fact I was able to book the appointment to change the person on the title, she rudely stated, “there’s 25 years of experience telling you this,” she then went on to say “people get married and divorced all the time.” Which was rude and didn’t even completely correlate to my initial issue, because if someone were to get divorced and change their name they would indeed be back at the DMV to change their license and registration so a competent person might think that perhaps with that would be a CAR TITLE. She additionally told me “if it would make you feel better you can sign both names [married and maiden] on the title when you sell it.” It was placating to be told if it would make me feel better. I just needed clear and concise information. I was mistrustful of any information being given as I was given information through an email, in which I explained exactly what I my intent at the DMV was. Not once in that email did anyone inform me that the change I wanted to make was superfluous or unnecessary. They actually gave me forms to bring with me and documentation therefore bolstering the idea that I’m doing the right thing. I’m extremely infuriated by this experience and the rudeness I got after being understandably frustrated. I understand that we all are “experts” in our field of work, however given I am far from a DMV employee I do not know all the specific ins and outs of the rules and procedures therefore being given some grace would have been appreciated. DMVs have well known raps of being the worst places in the world and today just supported this belief, unfortunate.

I had an exceptional experience here today. I showed up for my appointment, was pointed over to my line, got my number, and worked with a fantastic employee, Eugene, who was kind and patient with the flurry of paperwork I had to hand him. This office is run remarkably efficiently for how many different tasks it must process for the public. Will definitely return to this particular DMV office in the future.

I’ll start off with this DMV does not look like a typical DMV. This location is the headquarters(the main office) so it’s a huge building. I was a little confused as to where to park. When you 1st enter, that lot is for taking tests. Follow the lot around for regular parking, and there are plenty of lots. Checking in on my phone made entering the waiting room smooth. If you’re not aware how to do so, click the link they sent your phone. Once you show the officer at the door, you can sit and wait. Your number will come up on the screens. The energy from the clerks was really great. When names were called and no one showed up, other clerks chimed in calling. It was funny. The music was great, so the wait wasn’t bad. The air was a little choppy and it took breaks. They had fans but they went off about 20 mins in. I sat closer to the lower numbers in the front area. When I came in and went towards the back numbers it was way colder. I haven’t registered a car since before have issues with my memory. I couldn’t remember the process and was hoping I filled out the paperwork correctly. The screen rebooted while I waited and never came back to the numbers screen. I almost had a panic attack lol. The number calling system is pretty loud, so I tried to relax. There was another screen behind me, but I didn’t want to get up. I have dizzy spells so I only wanted to get up when called. Of course they texted me to go up to the window by mistake lol. I was called next though. My clerk Yumna was beautiful and very sweet. She was very knowledgeable and kind. My wait all together was an hour to register a new vehicle. Other services seemed to move faster. This was a 10 out of 10 experience. I will definitely come to this location again and highly recommend.

Would give 0 stars if I could 2 hours to get rejected on the simplest task that should be able to get done online. Appointments are never when they are scheduled, always have to wait an hour plus.

Do not take your drivers test here with Matt, the black guy with the lazy eye. I walked in, and he was all buddy buddy with his coworker, being friendly and nice to him. I thought, awesome! This is going to be a good person to take the test with..... The moment he saw it was me taking the test his entire attitude changed. He became abbrasive, cut throat, and just flat out rude. No smiles, no convo, barely made eye contact with his one good eye. This job is not hard, and yet he seems to be terrible at it. A little kindness can go along way to help people not be so nervous. He needs to be retrained on how to work with people, or maybe should not be working with the public at all. DONT TEST WITH MATT!!!

Made an appointment for license renewal. I sat there for 2 hours before my ## was called. Whats the point of setting an appointment if you arent going to seen at the time you set. Trash DMV. Take the trip elsewhere. Especially if you have stuff to do. Avoid Wethersfield DMV like the plague if you value your time.

I’ve been there with my wife to transfer our drivers licenses and everything went well. I want to highlight the consultant Flor S. who was extremely patient and supportive with our needs, she went beyond to help us out. Everyone was very respectful and helpful. Congratulations to the team.

Terrible parking. Poor communication outside about where to be in line and the person at the front was not helpful. Why have a walk up if it will be "all day". That wouldn't work with a four year old with me. I just moved from Wisconsin and I am shocked at how terrible the DMV service in Connecticut is. I have never waited more than 30 minutes in Madison or Milwaukee and this DMV is not even an urban area. Went online to make an appointment, none within 50 miles available. Couldn't even access the appointment schedules for any office near me. Also, they need a parking attendant. Not related to, but I did appreciate the food truck parked outside, if you have to wait at least there is food.

I visited the DMV today (6/12/2025) to get a Real ID for myself and also brought my mother to do the same. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely unpleasant due to the employee at Station 14. The woman assisting us was incredibly rude from the start. She rolled her eyes at us, spoke in a demeaning tone, and made dismissive comments to her co-worker about us not having filled out the application, even though we were clearly trying to understand the process and asked for guidance. Instead of helping, she rushed us, showed no patience, and even mocked us while we were stressed and trying to follow instructions. She didn’t wear a name tag, so I couldn’t report her by name, but I feel strongly that this kind of behavior is unacceptable, especially in a public service role where professionalism and courtesy should be expected. My mother and I left feeling humiliated and disrespected. I hope the DMV takes this feedback seriously and ensures staff are trained to treat everyone especially non-native English speakers and immigrants, with basic human decency.

The employee with badge# 16 was incredibly genuine, hardworking, knowledgeable, and helpful. Other than the person with badge #16 everyone else is pretty useless. including everyone on the phone and whoever that runs the website or the office . Horrible . Real ID has not affected DMV service in any other states this much. Absolutely Terrible management .

The staff was all super friendly and helpful. I did wait about 2 hours from my appointment time but I feel that’s just how DMV’s go?

Getting an online appointment is easy. Recommend doing online check-in prior to appointment for easy verification at entrance. The staff was extremely nice. Very helpful. Explained the next steps in detail as well. I was able to complete the registration process very easily.

Always preferred Weathersfield to other closer locations. Appointments are hard to come by for REAL ID, but they have been releasing Monday appointments weekly & had one within a week vs 4 weeks on other days. Wife & I Got there 20 minutes early for appointments, checked in Via Text in parking lot 10 minutes early & they called my number before we entered the building. Mine was rejected due to a minor issue by someone who was by the book, not all that friendly. The very friendly young lady helping my wife overheard me explaining to my wife my issue. She went out of her way to get my ticket reopened & had supervisors look into it & correct the issue. Very helpful & she was great.

Registering my out-of-state vehicle at the Wethersfield DMV was about as pleasant as you could hope. The wait was minimal, and Yumna was kind, efficient, and considerate — something truly noteworthy in this state. She made the process smooth and stress-free. Grateful for the great service!

I would support DMV - it’s much better then in was; the electronic line is better then coming at 6:30 am as it was. You can check in 10 min before entering - they wouldn’t let you enter earlier than your time - so if ☔️ - be ready for that. Even if you’re on time the whole experience will be 1 hour.

.. I lost my all day just to renew my wife's lost ID card ?!! The line was too long and it was stared from first floor ? main door!! It was very unusual and uncomfortable wait. No one want to spend all day standing at the line.. I don't know what to say but that was very terrible.
