What clients say about Two Buttes Reservoir in Rush (CO)
We were very excited to see how much water was here when we visited a month ago. The last time we came there was very little water. The rock formations below the dam are beautiful and a nice surprise.
As of June 11th, 2020 the reservoir has dried up so much that there is not enough deep water for swimming or for boating. When we went to go cliff jumping into the water we discovered that the deepest spot throughout the lake was only 4 feet deep. Not only very disappointing, but dangerous. Hundreds of dead fish heads and bodies lined the shore, and there was no sign of life in the murky, dirty, water. With thick mud that goes up to your knees, we walked out of the lake covered head to toe in dirty water and our legs covered in clay. There is no way that a boat could ever be ridden, and due to low water levels no fishing is allowed. There is no website that says any of this so i hope people find it here. PLEASE DON'T ATTEMPT TO JUMP!!!!
There was also a man who lives right across from the jumping point who stood and watched my group of friends for over an hour, ducking behind trees and rocks to not be seen. He followed us along the shoreline until we got so freaked out and fed up that we left the reservoir to feel safe.
Two Buttes Reservoir is always a good place to go if you want to have fun jumping off cliffs swimming in goodcleanwater and they got some good fishing out there too
