Came during the week to recycle and was the first time here. And NEVER coming back again. Upon arrival, saw the guy(worker) literally yelling at a older woman's face just because she didnt give the correct information the first time he asked when you could hardly understand him as well. Very rude, condescending, and impatient. Theres one thing not liking your job, which is fine. But dont lash out towards the customers, when WE ourselves are going through tough times in which we dont need to be treated so rudely. And honestly, I dont think he weighs anything correctly either. Go at your own risk.
Upon arrival, Ken greeted me with great kindness. He should have more people working like him. I go to other recycling centers from the same company, and it's not the same. That's why I come from so far away, just because this guy is an excellent worker. He always treats customers well. Anyone who says otherwise is because they're in a bad mood from home.
What can an Adrian who worked at the recycling center are very helpful very polite they helped me out made me feel very welcome this place is a place to go that will help you..
Never going here again. I brought 5 full bins of crushed aluminum cans, and they only gave me $58. It should have been well over $100 easy. I have done a lot of recycling but not since moving here back in November. This is the biggest load I have ever done and I have gotten well over 100 in the past for much less cans. This place is a total rip.
For me when a business has posted business hours they should uphold to those stated business hours. Sunset recycling ? does not honor their own business hours. We arrived 6 mins before closing. We had 4 1/2 bags with us. All they had to do was weigh and pay. By the time they were done arguing with us and finished smoking their cigarettes we would've been long gone. They cost themselves more time, loss out and some money and a customer as well. If your a business owner you really want to accommodate to your customers. It's just good business. If I may go to the guys at Super A market at Beverly & Garfield in Montebello, they don't act like this.
You're gonna get ripped. I had 7 kitchen bags of smashed cans filled. They said it was only 33 pounds. Filled up 4 baskets: 20.5, 17.5, 15.5, and 13.5, totaling 66.5 lbs. You're not gonna tell me those wire baskets are 8.25lbs each lol... didn't want to argue.
My advice: Weigh the wire baskets first that you'll be using and take note each weight. They try to do it fast, and I asked him, "you just weighed my 4 baskets and didn't take note of the weight" as if was gonna do the math in his head. And he redid it and I was taking note of each weight but didn't take the basket into consideration... those things are maybe 2 lbs.
Feel like got cheated. Helper was rude. When complain, he pointed to his boss who say he didn’t see anything or care. Useless. He just back his worker by saying he just works fast and that how he is. 3 useless guys. Stay away.
Hector is an exemplary worker who consistently goes above and beyond. His dedication, work ethic, and how kind and attentive is unmatched. Whether it's handling heavy loads, sorting materials efficiently, or ensuring the facility runs smoothly. I come here just for him. He is the only one to treat me and everyone well lol.
He is reliable, punctual, and never hesitates to lend a hand to his coworkers or us as customers. Hector understands the importance of treating everyone with respect no matter who you are which is already saying something in a recycling center lol. If you want good service just ask for Hector! ???
**update** last time I was there the guy tried ripping me off. He didn't include the correct weights for my aluminum. Tried to give me price for plastic instead of aluminum and basically didn't include 17lbs of my cans. Just didn't even include it. Luckily I was on top of it and he had no choice but to correct it. My suggestion is you write down as they weigh and take down the amount the basket weighs and add it up make sure it make sense. !! Updated as of 06/22/2024. **

Highly recommend this place. The guys are fantastic and helpful, extremely polite and respectful. Don’t look anywhere else, this IS the spot! A+++ Adrian and Ken are top notch!!!
Need a nickel quick? This is your place to go. Seriously though, this is a good place to recycle if you're close because it's easy to park and load. We collect cans on our walks and buy plants with the money (about $5 a week). It's on our errand route so it's fairly easy. I use gloves to sort the cans. I'm always amazed at the number of people who do this without gloves, given how dirty they can be.
You'll get slightly more $ if you use count instead of weight.
Great staff, convenient location, plenty of bins, safe, and ample parking. Adrian and Ken have been courteous and polite to me. That is why I keep coming back to Sunset Recycling for 8 yrs.
This Recycling Center is one of the best ones only Friday, Saturday and Sunday. He will show you the scale and if you have any questions he will politely explain to you and show you how its done! 100% honest and doesn't hide the scale at all! Also his helper is very nice and helpful to anyone. I would definitely come only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays because those are the days that you will definitely get good customer service and get paid the correct amount!
Love coming during the weekends because theres this guy who only works there weekends and this man gives great customer service and always greets you! Honest man who shows you the scale and if you have any questions he will answer them! I will definitely be coming here often!
This review is for the angry agitated buff guy. I look on their website and it says it closes at 5:00 P.M. I arrive at 4:30 P.M and I see another customer so I'm thinking I'm good. When I arrive the angry buff guys gives me an attitude and says were close but he sees I have 5 bags of plastic bottles he changes his mind and gives me a lecture on why I don't come earlier when I have the whole day and the money is coming out of his own pocket. Lol. 5 mins later I'm finished while the other customer is still doing his thing. I normally don't write reviews unless its special like this individual who will likely help his owners loose money by pushing his customers to other recycling centers like myself. The last time I was there I see the same agitated buff guy give another customer attitude I thought it was a one time thing or the customer pissed him off. This is the best part. When he gives me the money his line is "Take the money and go!" With attitude. Lol. This guy is rare and special.
Came by and Ken was very nice and helpful as usual, this has been my go to spot because of the awesome customer service by Ken.... greatly recommended.

Ken is has excellent customer service and is trustworthy with his weight. He goes above and beyond to help senior citizens and female with their heavy recycling materials from their vehicles. I drive a long way to recycle here with the best attendant Ken here during the weekdays.
Awesome place! The workers here have always been pleasant and courteous to me. They work quick and their pay out for aluminum cans/ plastic bottles/glass is pretty good. Plus I like that this place is not super busy with long lines like the recycling center in Monterey Park at Atlantic blvd.
Wow… the weekdays guys, I know for a fact are taking any dollar they can…I know it’s only two dollars, but as soon as I counted my money in the car ( all ones by the way), I was shorted… that muscle guy and the one that doesn’t speak English are untrustworthy…please owner do something about this now… or bye bye… I only give it one star because of the weekend fellows, who are courteous and fair. Amen.
I started using this location once the other one (next to AMC Montebello) closed now. After 5 visits, I can say they are always quick, efficient, organized and quiet (bad for them). No issues ever. Unclear if payout is comparable to other places but I would absolutely recommend this place.
