Our Legacy Cabin was everything we hoped it would be and more: classic CCC constructed log cabin from the 1930s nestled in the forest (primarily deciduous trees) with stone fireplace, front porch w/two addirondek style chairs, A/C (a split unit with compressor outside), fully equipped kitchen w/full sized gas range, oven, and microwave, fully equipped-sized refrigerator, dishes, cooking utensils, dish soap (!), bathroom with shower, exhaust fan, double bed with bedding, kitchen table w/two chairs, asphalt paved walkway from the road to the porch, drip coffee maker. What else do you need? Everything worked. No cell signal in our cabin (#5), but signal was good at the lodge (about a mile away). We were very pleased. It was very comfortable and convenient and in a quiet remote area of the park. The Central hiking trail is just steps away. We will be back.
We had a great time staying in Cabin 7! Just the right size for two people. The cabin is very well-equipped with a full stove, microwave, drip coffee maker (bring your own coffee), toaster, and full-size fridge. Plenty of pots, pans, plates, and silverware as well. Sheets and towels are also provided. Paper towels were not provided and those would’ve been handy. There is heating and AC but we stayed on a particularly cold night and did get a little chilly overnight. But we had a lovely fire in the fireplace during the evening!
Since they have remodeled, everything has changed, the whole atmosphere and rustic feel of it. Also, the restaurant used to have the best pasta Buffet, now that's completely changed for the worst also.?
Cacapon is a hidden gem for people in the DMV. From Northern Virginia it is less than 2 hours away and then you are in a beautiful state park, with cabins built by the CCC during the Depression and also modern cabins with all the amenities of life, including internet connection. Pets are allowed! Recommended!
As always a great family gathering and golf outing. Can't say enough about the excellent condition of the course. Will be returning for as many years as possible. Would recommend to everyone.
This is a park that has something for everyone. Family fun, nature retreat or biking or fishing..you can experience the beauty of West Virginia. I come twice a year and stay in the cabins...wish I could come more often.
Had reservations for 2 -2bedroom cabins got her and they screwed up both cabins weren't much bigger than a doll house. A 1 room cabin 2 sets of bunk beds no where to sit but out side, its 34°, ants everywhere. My Daughter was taking the other cabin our grandson is they had to go back home no room for his pack and play, very disappointing
The park has recently renovated cabins that include a bathroom, air conditioning, and kitchen with stove and microwave. Pet friendly cabins are also available upon request. The lake isn't a long walk from the cabins and there are many places to grill or picnic nearby.
We stayed at resort it was wonderful helpful stuff. Hotels restaurant was really good. Pool area and jacuzzi was clean and UpTo date.will definitely go back again
Such a great spot in WV, cabins are clean and they partnered with Caperton furniture works which is a local plant to update the inside of the cabins. Quiet and peaceful place to stay central to Berkeley Springs WV which has a few historic spots.
We stayed overnight in one of the legacy cabins and it was great. We ended up in cabin 10, which was remotely located in the northwest side of the park right at the base of the mountain. That cabin is pet friendly and we could barely see the neighboring cabins through the trees over 100 yards away...total privacy (#8-12 are all legacy cabins). There is a hiking trailhead about 20 yards from the front door. I'd highly recommend asking for cabin 10 specifically.
The legacy cabins are rustic but have been updated in the past few years with basic modern amenities. No TV or Wifi, but we were able to get a solid 4G signal on our phones. Ample firewood is provided on site, but remember to bring kindling and a fire starter.
