After being ripped off by another mechanic in Charleston, I was so grateful to find Dunbar Rire and Auto! They diagnosed and fixed the problem at a reasonable price.
Honest shop, took my car to put my own tires on without hassle and did good work. Recommended and I'll be going back to them for any future tire issues.
I’m putting 1 star because I got an alternator and belt tensioner put on and later that day the belt flies off while I’m leaving work and I almost wreck because my power steering went out. It leaked out probably $5 of power steering fluid and destroyed my hood insulation($250). They said it was because my power steering was loose and leaking. But it was fine when I left their shop. There was fluid everywhere and the lines were loose after the belt flew off. My engine bay is covered it insulation and fluid still. Then they charged me for a new serpentine belt after I just changed it a month ago. I had to drive it there with no power steering. The owner is pretty cool but the other guy the rang me up was rude and wouldn’t listen to a thing I had to say. Won’t take accountability for their actions. Just paid $200 alternator and $500 to them to get it all together and now I’m out $250 for new insulation and then my time to put it on and to clean up everything. No happy at all
Dropped by this morning with concern of flat tire. They checked our tires quickly and didn’t find any issues, but explained why the check pressure tire alert came on.

I was in the area working and had one issues with my truck and they were awesome about getting my truck in quickly and didn't charge a million dollars. They also went above and beyond by coming to my apartment after hours to try and diagnose it prior to taking it up to the shop. If you're traveling through the area and issues occur definitely give them a shout!!
My husband had an immediate significant problem with our Suburban while on the way from Ravenswood to Huntington. He appreciated that the folks Dunbar Tire & Auto were able to work him in and to accomplish a significant repair within 3 hours. He was able to get back on the road and complete his round trip journey. He said all staff and the owner were very pleasant; he truly appreciated Robert's great help.
They'll do in a pinch but will not be my first choice going forward. If and when they get around to it they do reliable auto work. Trouble is, despite having prices on the higher end of what's normal, they're not terribly punctual. I don't think I've ever been here and had them actually work on my car at the scheduled time. It's nice that they're actually open on Saturday, but a bit of a bummer that they won't actually do anything beyond basic maintenance work on those days.
If you've ever been to one of the more expensive shops out there you know what I mean. Some of the staff are very polite and helpful, it's clean, the waiting room is nice, and they've always done solid work on the days they keep the scheduled appointment. Just... don't come here if you're in any kind of a hurry.

Formerly TLC Tire and Auto. I was worried when I heard the place had a new owner, but I took the car in today and found the same helpful employees as before. Robert is always a pleasure to deal with. I've always gotten courteous treatment and fair prices here.
Stopped by at 4:30pm to get an inspection sticker. The workers looked at me like I had two heads when I walked in - probably because they were closing in 30 minutes.
One of the workers said he stopped doing inspections 10 minutes prior to my arrival. I politely asked what time they open in the morning, and the man jokingly and in a smart electric manner asked what percentage tint are my windows. I replied, they’re legal. He laughed and said something under his breathe and then I heard the other workers laugh. If you would have inspected my car in the morning, then you would have determined whether my tint is legal, which it is.
This was my first time here and my last. I do not know the worker/mechanic’s name, but it was a man of darker complexion who was the unprofessional. I can easily go somewhere else. Hard to find good, friendly service these days.
These guys are absolutely the goat when it comes to quick and honest tire service. I blew a tire on the way home from a road trip and these guys got me in within the hour and got me back on the road in less than that. Prices were honest and the dude that worked on my car was a good dude. Thanks for helping me out fellas.
Never use them ever for anything. I got a routine oil change because my husband couldn't do it in time and we needed it done. I got it done in May and asked for synthetic oil which we were told was put in. It is now November and I got a warning light on my car. We thought it was strange that we had to change on it or do anything with the oil already. We'll my husband started to do an oil change and there is sludge in where the oil is draining out. They either put nasty cheap non-synthetic oil in there, didn't put the right weight in there or not enough or all three. That could have cost me more money on an engine if i didnt have sensors. Please stay away.
Robert at the Dunbar location is honest and doesn't take advantage of women like some mechanics. He does quality work and keeps it professional. 4/20 oil changed. Great customer service
I was in a spot with a flat tire. Had to leave for a 5 hour trip. I could see they were short handed that day...but he fit me in and got me on the road. I was very grateful
Robert at the counter is friendly, the garage is clean, the work is done right. The prices are competitive. It's very nice to have a garage/mechanic(s) that you can trust, and I TRUST TLC2. The only negative that I can find is that they will not assist with aftermarket parts. STILL 5 STARS!
I have used both TLC Oil Change and TLC2 Tire & Auto and have been extremely pleased every time. Robert, at TLC2 is the BEST. Great customer service and professionalism. Highly recommend both businesses.
This place is a joke I would not recommend it to anyone especially any women. I've had my car there multiple times within the last 3months and it still is not fixed correctly I have done spent almost $7,000 there so why am I still having issues??? It don't even deserve a star!!! But that's the only way I could share my input.
Friendly, honest and knowledgeable staff along with fair prices. I've had all three of my vehicles serviced there numerous of times. Strongly recommend giving them a chance.
After having a blowout on a nearly 1000 mile road trip, they promised they could replace the one tire and check the others for us as well. After checking them, they strongly recommended that we replace them all, and the price was extremely fair at only $300 for the full set. They had us in and out in only an hour, and that's having not had our specific tires in the shop when we first arrived. They even thought they had a spare that they were going to give us to replace ours, and even if that didn't work out that way, I appreciate their kindness and generosity. I am incredibly grateful for them being honest, prompt, and considerate and I would highly recommend them.
Discovered this place a few weeks ago as was in need of an oil change and tire rotation. Fair price. Today i spoke with Chase on phone about a headlight replacement issue I was having. Told me to bring car in. Not only replaced in timely fashion but insisted on no charge. I am new to the area but they will get all of my car repair needs in the future.
Worst service ever. The person on the counter is unfriendly and doesn’t care about customer needs. They usually create a hype that they are super busy but they just do a lousy job. I think the only reason they are still in business is there is no other good competition around.
If you are looking for anything other than tire service, better avoid this place.
I drive a company vehicle so I don't have to pay when I visit these folks (fleet pays for work done) but they are always great to deal with. Simple call, they order my tires and have them installed within an hour of me arriving and that's without making an appointment due to my work schedule.
Tire was punctured. They had me in and out quick. Very reasonable price. I remembered how they treated me and went back there to purchase a set of tires. Again, I was treated well.
7/18/16. My son took his car to TLC Lube and Wash, at 915 Dunbar Ave. owned by same as TLC Tire and Auto, to have state inspection. He has never had trouble with the car before. While there, the owner of the business said the shifter cable was loose and needed replaced. My son told him that he can't fix it now.. drove about 100 yards and in same park lot. When he put the car into park, the car kept moving ..... in reverse. We went to TLC and I was asking the (the owner, TERRY PETRY) about what happened and he was being an ass right off the bat. I was trying to be civil but he was getting very nasty, telling us he had no intention of fixing the car. I said I was going to post a negative review on Facebook and he threatened me.. He said, and I quote 'If you post me on Facebook, I will find you'.
Then my son asked if he was threatening me and he said 'I'm sixty years old but I will kick your ass'. We left so we could find a reputable garage. My neighbor said they broke her wipers and wanted $250 to fix. Stay away!!
I would leave no stars if possible!!
