Sunnyside has been so good to us. Living in Sequim for two years this was our go to place and today we came in to town to move our last vehicle cross country, the battery was completely dead. We bought a jump start and took it to sunnyside when it cranked, told them we were planning to drive it and basically needed “a dad to look at it” so we felt safe setting out on our journey. Chris took the time to check under the hood and give us a vote of confidence, and because of our past visits we felt safe with his opinions. They have always been fair, and honest, and they love hummingbirds like us with the little feeders outside, just a great place.
After noticing something leaking from beneath my car I pulled into Sunnside to see if they could have someone look at it and tell me if it was serious. The lovely women behind the front desk said, "let's take a look" and she walked out with me to the parking lot to look at the fluid that was leaking and popped my hood. She and a mechanic quickly confirmed it was just water from my air conditioner and I was in and out in less then 10 minutes. Sunnyside was very busy at the time and the fact that they took 5 min to check for me was absolutely amazing! I am so grateful for such kind and professional service!!!
Extremely Reliable and Competent and truly care about you vehicle care and maintenance. The Crew as fronted by Chris is a team of professionals who take time to diagnose and describe the problem with your vehicle and then get you back on the road again. They fixed my CR-V Engine after a Head Gasket problem and while repairing they recommended some new internals to be replaced which only made sense such as a timing chain and water pump. This was done at 285k miles on the vehicle. Plus they said that the valves were too tight and reset them back to factory specs. When the car was back on the road, my mpg increased and my Honda Engine was very responsive like new again! That is a good feeling when driving between Seattle and Sequim in all the bad weather or long extended trips along the I-5 corridor. Good peace of mind!
Chris and his team have been great. I had recently moved to Sequim and I out of necessity I had to have my vehicle towed to their shop. I had not worked with them before and was nervous about working with a new mechanic I had not had a chance to vet. Though the tow truck drive who was not affiliated with them told me he thought they were one of the best in the area. Needless to say, right away I found I was in good hands and haven't looked back since. They have Master ASE mechanics and they've demonstrated every time that everyone from the front desk ladies to the owner himself they take pride in their work and genuinely care about what's best for their customers. They've proven to me they're in it for the long term relationship, not the quick buck. If you live in Sequim or just happen to have an emergency while visiting I recommend Sunnyside Automotive.
This place has mechanics that don't know what their doing. My friend took her car in and not only did they have it for weeks, but she has had to take it back to them weekly to fix their own repairs. Do not us this facility for any automotive work.
Chris fixed my truck and did an amazing job. Honest and fair. Great local mom and pop shop that does not charge an arm and a leg or hidden fees. Actually the bill was cheaper than what was quoted!
The blower motor Sunnyside auto put in 6 months ago doesn't work already. They said there's no warranty since there's sometimes a dog in my car and they claim this is why it worked for 6 mos.
The transmission leak they said would cost 10,000 to repair never existed. Beware: these people are either awful at their jobs or lying thieves.
Very professional and friendly staff. I'm from out of town but they got me scheduled in a reasonable time frame so I didn't have to delay my return to Arizona by only a few days. Had a bad motor mount and they had me ready to go in a couple of hours. The quoted cost and repair time was exactly what they said it would be. Sunnyside will be my go to place for auto repairs whenever needed while spending the summers in Port Townsend.
BEWARE!!! This shop is all about taking advantage of out-of-town customers. They would nickel and dime the customer and not stand behind their work. My car developed a visible coolant leak under reservoir while I was visiting Sequim. I left the car at their shop for a week to fix it. In addition parts and labor they charged me for things like battery charging, diagnostic (which was wrong) and what not but the leak wasn’t fixed. I drove the car for 5 miles and I could see the leak from exact same spot (picture). I took the car back to them but they couldn’t fix it. The front desk person was nice until they collected our money. After we reported the issue she told us to talk to someone else who we had never met. I drove back to Seattle refilling coolant every 8-10 miles
Great people always find away to get you back on the road fast . Super great service they always have the latest and greatest equipment for checking out your vehicle . Being a car guy myself I would recommend them to everyone
If it were possible I would rate much lower. I took my 1972 MACH 1 mustang show car to their shop for a Simple freeze plug replacement job. Left with 2 blown head gaskets and a car overheating to point of melt down. $420.00 to burn up my 351 c with well under 20,000 on rebuild. Car never ran past warm since having it's radiator reconditioning at thermo-kool of Sequim Washington; which I highly recommend as they are very knowledgeable and offer great quality service, after taking it there four months prior it always ran in cool range. I never have been so poorly treated by any business establishment and only told they WOULDN'T fix what they made happen. Only offering to call for a tow. I would suggest if you have a older show car or a car you very much value you don't take it to Sunnyside Automotive.
If you break down in Sequim, don't go to Sunnyside...overall bad experience. I was lectured that I was not taking care of my vehicle and quoted me a fix of over $2300, they also didn't care to tow it. Got the vehicle relocated to Port Angeles, and had it fixed for less than half for what they quoted for. Don't bother with these people.
So glad I found this place! I was visiting the area and, when I left my campsite one morning, my vehicle's check engine light came on. The park ranger referred me to Sunnyside Auto. I received friendly, prompt, honest service. The head mechanic did a free diagnosis, which included a printout of his findings to take to my local mechanic when I got home. The problem was not serious, so I was on my way in a relatively short time and it didn't cost me a cent!
They will always fit you in if it is a critical issue with your car. My car battery died on me and they were willing to fit me in once my battery was charged enough to make it there and were willing to check everything else while they were at it at my request!! They have always been straight forward with me and my family about how serious some issues are. They even spotted that my tires were rubbing against something and were wearing down the sides of the front tires, and didn't want me drive it and risk them exploding while on the road; and that was just at an oil change! I know some people don't exactly like how they get treated by them, but they are knowledgeable and will always tell you how serious something is.
