Avoid at all costs, save money and time and go to an actual good shop instead that will at least tell you what they’re doing to YOUR car. Extremely rude and unprofessional.
We were in town for a funeral and our car broke down. We called first thing Monday morning and they not only got us in quickly, but also gave my husband a ride back to the hotel and had us up and running before noon! We were really at their mercy and were wondering how much they would charge us. They were much more reasonable than our mechanic at home! What a wonderful experience! Thank you, Shawnee!

I’ve been going to Shawnee Car Care for as long as I remember. With any issue, John was upfront on pricing and time estimate. They’ve taken care of all our vehicles and I couldn’t recommend them enough!
Heater core replacement went well, had an issue with the a/c, took it back and it was taken care of, nice respectable people, better pricing compared to other places, give them your business 😎
They are really good at what they do and they care alot about people and making sure they are taking good care of i wouldn't go anywhere else thank you for everything you do and more
Update: February 2025 they have made everything right. My vehicle is now running properly.
This is an update since my vehicle has been seen by another shop.
I did a review previously due to wonderful customer service from Kim and John. I still believe the 2 of them to be honest and kind individuals. However, their mechanics are a different story. I went in for a an oil pump replacement and have had to go back 3 times. I went for a catalytic converter replacement. My vehicle now has a rattling sound. I took it to another mechanic since I have not heard back from them after sending photos and videos of the issues found. The mechanic stated that the rattle is from the catalytic converter not being properly installed. The oil pump was not installed properly and that is why the bottom of my engine is covered in oil. You can see the oil in the video below.
Also, when I had it towed back during my second visit I told them I had a coolant leak. Somehow they missed that the thermostat housing bolt wasn't even screwed in all the way. See picture below. They cut pieces and left the debris under the van.
Overall, the work was just sloppy.
You can't find a place that's more honest than Shawnee car care. They will diagnose the problem tell you up front what it will cost and give you the best and reliable work.
Whenever moving to BSG almost 7 years ago I was advised by a colleague to check out Shawnee Car Care for an inspection sticker. Since then, they’ve been great at fixing mechanical issues on our Ford/Mazda as well as general maintenance

John and the guys are all very straight forward in what you need and they won't try and up sell you for stuff you don't need.

Ten years ago when I moved to Wise County, someone recommended Shawnee Car Care to me. With their expertise, I got over 300,000 miles out of a Honda Odyssey and a Honda Accord. I rarely needed more than an oil change or brakes. John also expressed concern when he thought I needed a new vehicle due to my commutes. For the past five years, I’ve lived in Kingsport, Tennessee and regularly bring my vehicle to Shawnee for maintenance and repairs. It is worth the drive for their honesty and excellence!!
Have had nothing but wonderful customer service and a very thorough service with all of our vehicles! Kim is always so great to respond to any questions I may have & quick to speak to a mechanic if I need anything answered there! 10 out of 10, always a great experience!
I wouldn't recommend you take a bicycle to this shop. Like literally they screwed up my oil change because they didn't take off the old gasket.
When I first got my used van I was pretty sure something was going on with my power steering pump, however 3 to 4 different mechanics there kept telling me it was fine because there was fluid in the reservoir. (As I'm finding out there is fluid in there because the hoses needed replaced and after my research you can clearly see there is an issue with lines an now the pump). They said my rack and pinion was leaking and replaced that. Then replaced my cv joints. And after the rack and pinion replacement the guy had me get in and turn the wheel to add more fluid it def sounded pretry whiney and asked again, is the power steering pump bad and he said no. All the sounds from the steering wheel were still there. The big Opie Taylor looking guy told me not to turn my steering wheel too far.. I mean if I can't turn my steering wheel how is that not an indication? I guess because I'm a female they think I don't have a brain. Needless to say all the steering components they replaced and then some are ruined bc my power steering hoses were bad. Also tried to tell me my rear main seal was leaking, all from the power steering lines due to hard hoses and the leaks. I'm not a mechanic, but figured it all out by researching. I threw a couple thousand away. And honestly, none of the mechanics could diagnose it correctly in this area.
I normally don't write reviews like this but honestly, they need to be shut down.
They also changed a friend of mine mother's tires and didn't tighten the lug nuts to her wheels 3 different times... I'm not a mechanic but that should be pretty basic for a mechanic. I'm reporting them because it doesn't seem like they know what they're doing even with minor maintenance. We don't have any good mechanics in our area but this is probably one of thw worst ones.
What a gem to find in Big Stone! Google searched for "certified mechanic" and followed the excellent reviews to their professional website. Along with knowledgeable information about car maintenance, I found one of their monthly specials for an oil change I was needing! Phone call to schedule was uncomplicated, with open availability on Thursday morning. Welcomed by prompt and professional reception, and the mechanics were above and beyond local service I have received elsewhere. They thought to reset the oil indicator on my dash system, balanced the air in my tires, and pulled the car right up to the door.
The tire service is what won me over. Fillng my tires when one or two lose air, and knowing what pressure is best for the weather concerns me because I care about the safety of my passengers and those on the road. Other places, there is an extra charge for that extra step of courtesy and consideration, and Shawnee Car Care did it without my needing to ask.
Do not judge by the outside appearance (for all y'all who expect a dealership shine). Notably, what doesn't go into frills goes into quality service. It is a workshop where you can expect excellent mechanic work (and a free cup of coffee)!
Fantastic service, and they reward cash to credit with discounts. I had to get my heating core replaced, and they did it easy peasy even during an insane rush week. Super nice to talk to, very kind to those who have limited car knowledge.
Took my 4runner to them for fuel gauge not working and a rough idle. I went to pick it up after owner said it's fixed. I drove approximately 1/4 mile and all engine lights came on and the idle was worse I returned the car to them stating its not fixed waited 3 business days then was called again to pick up what I thought would be fixed. Nope it's not fixed and they didn't connect the fill hose to my fuel tank so when I tried to fill the tank gas poured everywhere in the parking lot making a huge mess and a fire hazard. I would never recommend using Shawnee car care for any reason. Unless you want more problems
I've been using Shawnee Car Care for the last 5 years. Always receive excellent mechanical work, recommended tire brands that I may not be familiar with always perform beyond my expectations. Fast turnaround on jobs. Very fair pricing. Highly recommend SCC.
As I was driving through town waiting for time to pick my son up for school, I noticed my car didn't seem to have as much "pull" when I pushed the gas pedal. I turned my radio down and quickly realized it also didn't sound like it normally does. Worried that I may break down before time to pick up my son, I quickly pulled into shawnees car care. I parked my car, and walked into the office. John asked how he could help me and I explained my situation. He had me pull my car over to the garage and the mechanic had a look. It was 3pm, and pick up is 345. They quickly found the problem and fixed it for a very reasonable price. I was in and out and made it to the school on time. Thank you shawnees and thank you John! I was very pleased with the service I received!
Great service, good pricing. I like that they're upfront with estimates and stick to them. No hidden charges. John is very knowledgeable. I've been happy with everything from oil changes up.
I will be the first to say that these people should receive 5 stars. Honest mechanics are hard to find! They are not prim and proper, but if you need your car fixed and don't want to get ripped off, I absolutely suggest you give them a chance. They certainly did me right. God bless America!
Had an appointment. When I got there I was told that we needed to come back in 1-2 hrs and then he didnt know if he could get to our vehicle. Because he said, you know how these things work, when you start working on an auto anything can go wrong. Very rude and disrespectful. Needless to say I didnt go back but took my business elsewhere. I understand things can go wrong but dont make appointments if you dont have time to do the work. I am a veteran that lives on a fixed income.I traveled a distance to get there so it's not like I can just pick up and drive it several times a day.
