Once again, American Pride Automotive in Toano really took exceptional care of me and my vehicle. First off, Kaitlin is very welcoming and stellar at helping you articulate what problems your vehicle is having. Miles (corrected) is truly a master technician. He is methodical and intentional at diagnosing and testing your vehicle to give you the most accurate information. You can tell they all live up to the name of the company becaue they not only take great pride in what they do, they take great pride in how they do it. With American Pride of Toano I never have to ask myself, "Is this right or am I being treated fairly?" I know when its done, its done right and its done fairly. Period. They will always get my business. Hands down.

I drive about 100 miles each day and my 2014 Kia Cadenza has 164,000 miles on it. My car was smelling like burning oil last Friday, so that afternoon I was ready to buy a new car and vehicle shopping. After being indecisive, I decided to drop my car off to American Pride over the weekend and see what they could to prolong my car's life. They got it in Monday morning and diagnosed the issue as a leaky valve cover gasket. They had the parts and fixed it immediately. They also installed new front brakes and rotors, changed my oil and provided an inspection. I got my car back and it feels like a new vehicle. It's running smoothly with no oil smell. I feel like it'll run another two years easily. I am so amazed by American Pride's diligence and their stellar workmanship. Their front staff are also all very kind and professional. Even though I pay for the service, I really do appreciate the ethics they put behind their services. It's very hard to find a reputable repair service these days and American Pride is the best. Period.
I came in for an alignment, was quoted around 240. I later get a call that it ended up taking them a longer time because of the state of the vehicle and I was charged almost an extra hundred dollars, WITHOUT being told. I understand labor costs are getting high, but they should've called when they saw the state of the vehicle and realized it would take longer. 320 for an alignment is ridiculous, I'm sorry.
I had a difficult electrical issue that William was able to troubleshoot and find the problem. He was very professional and kept me updated on his progress. I got the car back sooner than expected and I'm very satisfied with the experience. I highly recommend American Pride!
Went in for a simple tire repair/plug. Even rolled the tire in to them. Took over an hour. Cost $38 for a plug! At first they said putting it back on would cost $71, then dropped to $38, asked for my keys, and said it was complimentary. And then they tried to up-sell a bunch of unnecessary services. The plug couldn't have taken more than 5-10 minutes, the rest of time was to inspect and make videos of what they considered wrong and would gladly fix. They took it for a road test without my permission. I just wanted a tire plugged!!! Been living nearby for 24 yrs; never been there before...and absolutely will never return. Will actively warn off anyone who asks.
*Just took my car in to CJs Tires for a rotation and oil change less than a week later. They inspected and did not come up with any of the items Pride found. Am Pride = Pure fear mongering auto scammers.
I always have a great experience here! The customer service is phenomenal. They are very thorough and give detailed explanations for everything, but never pressure you at all. I’ve always gotten the work done fast, and if you need a ride home they cover your uber both ways, it’s awesome! I’ll never take my car anywhere else
They did a great job of getting to the root cause of my brake problems all while being very transparent with me. I'm glad they're just a couple of minutes away because I will be using American Pride again.
Highly recommended for honest, fair, and thorough work, including handling difficult vehicles. It was a treasure find close to my home and it will be my go to moving forward.
American Pride in Toano takes great care of our vehicles. They see to every detail, to include making sure we are satisfied and comfortable with the work performed.
I went in for my annual state inspection which I have never had an issue with before. American Pride completed the inspection differently than I have ever seen before including taking the car out on the road. They failed my car and said that the rear suspension had excessive clearances. They quoted me $6,500 for the repair. I took my vehicle to the dealership and the quoted me $2,000 to complete the repair. I question the integrity of this business.
Very pleased with the service l have always received at this location. They took care of an emergency issue with the tire monitoring system. The warning lights make me very anxious about driving the vehicle
At 80 years old I panic about the possibility of being stranded on the side of the road. The fixed the problem while a waited. Am so grateful for their support and help
Very thorough inspecting vehicle and finding issues that you're not aware of even though you may have brought your vehicle in for another issue. My first time going and will continue to go there in the future, I was also well pleased at the time it took to repair and them contacting me to say your vehicle is ready!!
My wife's Highlander had the check engine light on so we had it checked out by the folks at American Pride. They diagnosed the issue quickly, ordered the necessary parts and finalized the repair quickly. They are super friendly and make it easy to trust their diagnosis with lots of support information.
Moved to the area and needed a safety inspection. Absolutely blown away by the service here! Called the day of and they said come on by! They even took care of my ride back home after I dropped the car off so I didn't need to wait. The front desk staff were so NICE and I didn't feel like I was getting scammed. Im totally coming back here for all my car things!

This place is LEGIT!!! Had a flat tire in the morning with a nail in it. They got me right in and fix it right away. They are the most thorough auto shop I've ever been to. Also the most trustworthy auto shop. Which is the biggest thing when it comes to mechanics. Last time I was here my ac went out. They said it would cost $500 to diagnose the problem. Do to my antifreeze being so expensive since its a toyota. Later they called me back and told me they found a wire unplugged no charge. Now thats TRUSTWORTHY!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

A very honest shop. They could have made my recent visit in August 2025 a big expensive transmission repair. But they were very honest and only recommended a flush. This shop is polite, they communicate often, and provide top quality work at a great price.
I’ve used this shop several times for both personal and company vehicles, and my experience has raised serious concerns about their honesty. Nearly every time I’ve brought in a vehicle, they’ve presented me with a long list of recommended repairs—often totaling thousands of dollars.
I typically approve only a portion of the work they suggest. What’s troubling is that when I return months later with the same vehicle, the items I declined to repair are never mentioned again, yet there’s suddenly a brand-new list of expensive issues. This pattern has repeated enough times that I no longer trust their assessments.
In my opinion, they may be recommending unnecessary work to increase sales. If you decide to use them, I strongly recommend getting a second opinion before approving costly repairs.

I confused the times of my appointment, showed up 30 minutes late. Thought it was at 11, it was at 10. Not only did they still service my car, they didn’t even correct my mistake. Nobody in the shop made me feel bad about that, and the girls at the front desk were really nice and very funny. I didn’t even know until I got home. They inspected my vehicle quickly, and though the vehicle did pass they still gave me a list of the upcoming services that need to take place, with explanations, pictures, and quotes! They also put air in my tires! The quotes given do appear to be very reasonably priced and even the gentleman who inspected my car was very nice to me. I will be coming back!
I broke down on the highway in Toano 2 1/2 hours from home, but I’m glad it was near American pride. I got a detailed assessment with videos and pictures of all the recommended services. Although I decided Not to have any work done and Replace the Car I was treated like a regular. Special thanks to Kaitlin. You’re the best!

Everyone is very nice and I feel comfortable bringing my car here. Not only will you receive an item by item estimate, they also provide pictures/video of a problem. I didn't feel pressure to do everything at once. They also provide an Uber if you need to leave your car.

A Lotus is an unusual car in Williamsburg. I'm particular and needed an alignment. Austin did a fantastic job and was able to do it to my specific specs and what a brilliant job they did! This kinda work means more labor and I'm fine with the extra cost if it's done well and that's exactly what I got. Totally transformed the car. Thanks guys!

The staff at American pride automotive are friendly, helpful, and honest. I had a wonderful experience with them. My car overheated on interstate 64 and I just happened to be lucky enough to get towed to their shop. I live in Texas, and I was well taken care of by these folks. I love the detailed report with photos that they sent to point out any issues with my vehicle. I also appreciate it. I’m setting up an Uber ride for me to my hotel or they fix my car. They also made a point to get my car fixed faster since I was traveling through town and not local. I really appreciate them. Highly recommend.
