I have only one place to go to get my car serviced The key to a successful business is the people and the quality of the services provided. Scott Tooley, at Buddy South Automotive, has never over charged me or did work that didn't need to be done. I have always felt I have paid a fair price for the service and maintenance needed. If you need your car repaired or serviced, Scott will take care of you. I have know him for 30+ years and he always provides the best quality service and tells me exactly what needs to be done. Hard to find people good and honest people in the car business but try Buddy South and you will see.

I called Buddy's South for an all wheel alignment on 9/30/25. I spoke to Scott and he said that they were slammed packed. I could drop off my vehicle and he would try to have it ready by 2:00 p.m. as I advised him that I had to pick up my son by 2:30 p.m. I said I would try another day but called back and said I have someone to pick me up. I dropped my vehicle at 9:00 a.m. and I received a call from Scott at 10:15 a.m. stating my vehicle was ready. Scott was very friendly and provided exceptional world class customer service!

Scott and his crew have worked on all my vehicles, replaced my transmission and it’s still running stronger than ever years later. Their prices and technicians are the best in town. One of the rare honest auto shops.

Buddy South's used to be a great automotive shop. It still might be...but you are only as good as your employees. I took a grand caravan in because it was loosing water. I changed the thermostat and water pump myself, but it was still loosing water. After looking it over they informed the upper and lower exhaust manifold gaskets needed replacing because they were leaking water. When told me it was ready, I picked it up and drove approx. 5 miles before it cut off. Confused, I let it sit a few minutes. It restarted and I drove it back to Buddy Souths. They checked it and told me the engine oil was low so they gave me a "complimentary" oil change. When I started it back up it started making a terrible noise from the engine. When I asked they told me it sounded like a bad rod bearing. They said it might last a week...or maybe a year. It NEVER made that noise before. The only reason the vehicle would have cut off like that was NO oil in the engine, and no oil would damage the rod bearing. When I asked if their police was to drain the oil before replacing the manifold gaskets, they said sometimes they do but you don't really need to. Now I am without a vehicle!

Spent $1,700 to fix my AC, came to pick it up and it wasn't working. They then said I had to pay $800 more, so I did. Still not working! So, now $2,500 out with nothing to show for it it's back a third time. It's been there since last week and they still haven't looked at it. Wouldn't you think that it would be a priority since it was their mistake? Just imagine going to a restaurant and the kitchen messes up your food, and they put your order in the back of the line to remake. Even though you have been waiting longer than anyone else. I guess auto repair isn't the service industry anymore, at least not at Buddy South.

Buddy South used to be a great, dependable shop to take vehicles too. A place I wouldn't think twice about sending my wife or mother in law to get something done with their vehicles. Until recently, since it's been bought out! My wife took her car there for an inspection, they had informed her that it has failed for rear brakes and a rear camber bushing. With a total of almost $1600 in work needing to be done, I of course told them I would do the work that needs to be done since I've been a mechanic for almost 30 years. Now, anyone who knows anything about maintenance, knows that if you don't take a tire off for a while, it can get frozen on and have to hammer it off. So they said they removed the left tire to check the brakes. They did not take the tire off because I work for about 15 minutes to get it off. The brake pads were low, but not bad. The rotors were not bad either, which they said needed to be changed. I did change the pads anyway, then took it to another shop to get it inspected. That shop then confirmed that there was absolutely nothing wrong with any bushing or suspension parts at all. This shop saw my wife come in and figured they would make some money on her. Not from this family, never going back there again and will continue telling everyone I know not to go there. Only worried about making money, not caring about the customers at all!!

My father has always used this shop and he had me use them when I was younger! My father passed and I still use them. I recently took my car there and they could of charged me anything but they have always and still are so honest with their work. I am so confident that when I go there My problem will be taken care of and I won't be ripped off. They are the best around!

Well, this place seems to have taken a nosedive. At one point they were my go to shop because Pence Nissan, who is no longer around and who were big time crooks (embezzlement was not the only shady things going on there), was the worst place to go to for car repairs. I did not know they now charge just to look at your vehicle; which should have been a visual inspection. A brake caliper was on wrong (front instead of back!?) something an honest and competent mechanic should have noticed right away. The little "I think I am cute" (she's not) girl at the counter stated I was only charged half the normal fee. I asked twice what and why was I being charged. When I ask why I'm being charged for something I expect an answer, not to be ignored. Someone needs her customer service skills brushed up on. Oh well, I guess like doctors and plumbers they charge you just to come in the door these days. Well, I won't be opening said door again.

Please read. I used Buddy South many times and was very happy but when two of the window regulators went out in my girlfriends car they quoted her over $800. When I called and asked why it was so expensive they said the car she had are hard to get parts for and on top of that the regulators were riveted in which was more labor. When I mentioned finding the parts on eBay very easily the woman on the phone said eBay motors doesn’t warranty there parts. Which anyone knows is false. After declining the service they said they would put the door panels back on. If that was true they would have noticed that the windows were not riveted in and were blatantly tried to rip off my girlfriend. I decided to do it myself and had both regulators in within 2 hours. It took longer to get the door panel off then changing the regulator out. There was not a rivet in the assembly. I even took a picture showing no rivets. They also charged her a diagnosis fee for taking off the door panels but if they did that they would know there wasn’t any rivets. So they pretty much either didn’t take the panel off or they lied about rivets to inflate the price. I will never trust them again.

Brought my car in with a stalling problem. Scott spent a great deal of time finding the issue. Replaced the camshaft position sensor and all is good . he was determined to find the problem and did. Great dedication

Since the company was bought their practices of being a upstanding company has left the building, took vehicle in for inspection everything that they failed it for only 1 thing was actually faulty everything else was them trying to make bank and screw their customer. replaced the part/parts and then replaced a part that they said was bad and it was still good. Took the vehicle to a diff place told them everything that it was failed for and they basically said they were trying to rip us off. I recommend a 2nd opinion if they fail your vehicles.

I dropped the car off to get an inspection. The car set for two days. I picked it up on the second day and they did not want to inspect my car and they had been doing inspections on it the last three. I had not changed anything on the car. They said it was to loud and it looks like a toy. I would not recommend that to anybody an I been going there for years ??.

I have used this shop for years. The original owner was AWESOME. Something has happened during the last two years. I brought a car in for an oil change and they used non synthetic with the wrong SAE. Not a biggie. Honest mistake. I brought another car in for a small coolant leak. Less than 2 qt every 6 weeks. After two weeks of them driving and diagnostics (pressure and block test) they found nothing conclusive. Possibly a water pump . $830 additional cost. I picked the car up tonight. First I noticed a new noise. A whine. Second 5 minutes down the road I began to smell coolant. Maybe leftover on the block. 15 minutes down the road steam began rolling out from under the hood. I pulled over and luckily my friend had a gallon water in their car. I am going to bite the bullet and take it to the dealler for the leak and for the new whine sound. I nolonger have confidence in the mechanics here.

New to the area so looked up a nearby autoshop to get my brake pads replaced. Saw the positive reviews so thought I would give it a shot. I dropped my car off Sunday night and Scott called me early in the morning to confirm. They were done with my car by 9:30am Monday morning. Scott’s phone etiquette was great and he was super personable. I’ll definitely be going back!

I’ve been a customer since 2007 and always get great service. I’ve referred many friends over the years who are also very happy with the work done at Buddy South. I trust them, which is a rare compliment for an auto repair business.

Great experience. Especially dealing with Scott. He was honest about the work that needed to be done and charged a fair price. You never know what to expect from car mechanics, but Scott is a man you can trust. I prefer supporting local businesses and I highly recommend Buddy South Auto for car repair. I’m glad I found an honest repair rep in Scott - Five Stars.

Scott Tooley brings a higher standard of customer service to Buddy South Auto. I have personally known Mr. Tooley in his capacity as service manager for over 24 years at three different auto repair businesses. In each instance his positive affect on these businesses increased customer appreciation significantly. His expertise in customer service has allowed me peace of mind with all my auto repair needs which will continue for years to come. I highly recommend Buddy South Auto for all your vehicle repairs.

Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Offered many options about whether to drop off my car or sit and wait for it to be completed. Fair prices. I will definitely use them for all my vehicle service needs.

I trust them for all my trucks. They are very honest and don’t overcharge for something you don’t need. Scott always makes sure I’m up to date on the progress being made and how long he thinks it will take to get repairs done.

The owner came out, asked us what's wrong, said that he'll check it out and he did. He looked at the tires and found a nail, filled up the tire and didn't even charge us. Don't get it twisted, you won't get free service. We are regulars and we know his family. He is a nice guy who believes in fair prices though.

Had a horrible experience, price kept jumping up and they never fixed my problem. $700 later I pointed out there was still an issue it was going to cost another $1000 to fix. Save yourself the time and look up a more reputable shop. Scott is completely unprofessional and hides in his office instead of dealing with the issue head on. The best thing this place can do is get a new service advisor who puts the customer first and treats people with respect. I won’t be back and hope I save someone else the headache that I went through!

There's a reason this place has been around even before I moved to Virginia 10 years ago. I found out first hand when taking my car in for a simple oil change that they know what they're doing. Ever since I've taken all of my cars here knowing what's wrong with them and what it will cost and me and the Buddy South are always on the same page. Of course they look for what else should be replaced and recommend getting that done as well, isn't that how it should be? Or would you rather them just let you go for the cheapest possible and then you break down and wonder why they didn't warn you? your choice but I'll take the former. Recommend to anyone for any job A+++++

On 2/6/14, before buying my 1998 Ford Ranger, I asked to have a Buddy South mechanic check it out. He said it was OK. The charge was about $60. On 5/12/14, I had Buddy South Automotive do the required annual inspection. It failed for upper and lower ball joints and a defective control arm. Repair cost was $775, including the $16 fee for inspection. I put at most 1000 miles of mostly highway driving on the truck. How come these defects were not detected in February? I complained. No concession was made, only a feeble apology. I related this to a retired Ford mechanic. He said that in his 30-year experience he has seen few failures of this type while the counter person asserted that it was quite common. The retired mechanic said that the analysis depends on how the testing was done. He doubted that it was done correctly and that I was probably ripped off. A $775 repair is not "OK"! I'm very sorry to report this. Until now, I had the utmost respect for Buddy South Automotive. Now my confidence is shaken.

Went in to get my hinge pins and bushings installed on my '93 mustang. They quoted me only 2 hours of labor on the phone and I agreed to let them work on it. 4 hours later, I called them back and asked how it was going. They said they were still working on it. I asked them how much I owed so far and they told me that the price would only charge me for the 2 hours instead of 4 hours of labor. I also got my door locks fixed here a while back. Very honest, friendly and understanding people here. I LOVE Buddy South!
