Update on attempted for resolution. I confirmed this engine had ~202k miles on it but was told it was 86k. I found the shipper (Tom's Auto Salvage, Pueblo, CO) and confirmed the VIN number and pulled a CarFax report to confirm that actual mileage. Daisy from Used Engines claims I have the wrong VIN (but they won't give me the correct one) which is total BS. I've contacted my credit card company to dispute the charge and contacted BBB to file a claim. All I'm asking is for them to ship what they quoted and take back the wrong engine.
Buyer beware, this company does not provide honest or accurate information. I was told the engine I was ordering for my 2000 VW Beetle had 86k miles however after doing my own research found it has over 200k. It's not the high mileage (actually, I was very surprised that they could find a 25yr old engine with 86K), it was that I was misled. They won't give you the VIN # so you can do you own research, you have to find this info on your own. All of this is completely unnecessary as I may still have ordered the engine knowing the actual mileage. I sent Elena and Alan a message asking for them to explain but as you can imagine, no response. My mechanic is going thru the engine now to see if its worth installing.
Although their CS team seem very pleasant to get you "hooked", when you call back they "are on medical leave". It should be a "red flag" when they have so much turn-over!
Received a bad engine, a lot of time and money wasted but I can say they will do everything they can to make things right as for as a replacement or refund. I would never used them again and I learned a valuable lesson through this difficult experience but hey it’s life. Online engine always a risk just be prepared that it may be a good or bad experience for each individual.
I had an excellent experience talking to Elena Watson from used engine Houston, Texas regarding the engine I purchased from them. Elena helped me choose the right engine that will fit in my car, talking with the delivery company and make sure that I received my engine on time, and also I am very satisfied about my purchase. My last attempt to keep my baby alive. I ordered a 1995 mitsubishi mirage engine but unfortunately the engine did not work for me but Daisy Wilson and team were very helpful, understanding and constantly keep me informed throughout the process.

I had a good experience talking with John, Ron and Clara at Used Engines they were always available always answered my call sent my emails daily, they were Johnny on the spot. Told me the engine would be tested prior to shipping out, sent photos they were a little blurry but what we saw did not look bad, so I purchased a used motor from them.
Well, funny how things change. The mechanic we use has about 20 plus year of experience in his field; this was not his first or second install. They unwrapped the motor called me and sent photos and said the motor looked like it has been sitting in water! The photos Used Engines sent me did not show anything of the sort, a few of the photos were blurry but we could see. They said they "tested" the engine prior to shipping and the mechanic said they never "tested" the engine, you can look at the entire engine and see that the bolts and everything has been sitting for a very long time. The mechanic is not going to install this motor; it will be nothing but problems. I emailed Used Engines over 6 days ago and nothing, no call or email, far cry when they were Johnny on the spot to take my money. The day after Labor Day, I called and spoke to Elena around 10 am and she was going to call me back by the end of the day, we are halfway the second day and nothing! no call no email nothing. I called back today and spoke with Clara, and she read the notes back to me saying that my call with Elena got disconnected, BS!!!
Good thing I put this on my credit card they have already been notified and waiting to see if I can get this resolved, I will also contact the Better Business Bureau. I guess I will send the motor back to the "office" in Houston. Please beware and do your due diligence prior to purchasing anything from Used Engines.
I will post this one (1) star review on Google where they show 4.5 stars and when I post it, there review does not change!
UPDATE 9/25/2025- Used Engines is wanting me take down my review, that is a hard no.
For the update. I received an email from Daisy at UE and she sent the following email
We received the engine back in their inventory on Sept 12, 2025.
And I quote
"MY REFUND IS NOW IN PROCESS" "typically takes 3/5 business days before the receipt is available"
My latest email date 9/23/2025 from Used Engines says
And I quote
"UNEXPECTED TECHNICAL ISSUES WITH OUR PAYMENT PORTAL, WHICH HAS TEMPORTARLY STOPPED ALL REFUNDS AND CARD TRANSACTION"
I have taken actions since they want to stall on my refund for an engine that was sitting in water and never tested as they claim.
I wonder what will happen now.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR $!! I could not rate this place any lower. Took 22 days to receive WRONG motor! Even after having to provide copy of title with VIN#, copy of value drivers license, etc. Had to sign lengthy agreements, basically making them exempt from responsibility for anything that could go wrong. Called back a couple of days later stating they could not give me the 6 month warranty on an older motor. Ordered a motor for a Nissan Frontier, received a motor for a Nissan Altima. Mechanic has already spent thousands of $ trying to convert to fit, now 6 months later find out the motor was bad to start with! Received multiple calls from these people before it shipped, which i could not understand because they could not speak English and I didn't speak Spanish. Horrible experience!

If you are considering ordering parts from used engines Inc. It's a solid choice. I will be the first to admit, I was skeptical to spend my money with them on my first order because i had never heard of them ( A 6.0 LQ9 from a 02 cadillac escalade, got it with all engine accessories, harness and ecu) for my LS swap project. Blake and his team were super helpful and delivered exactly what I asked for , and in the condition as described. Since my first purchase I've gotten a few other serious items like a transmission for a subaru forester and abandoned scrap yard hunting all together. I manage an auto shop in Houston and I exclusivity use them when a customer needs an engine or a transmission , anything other than glass or sheet metal. I can trust the parts will be good and for a fair price and they can supply anything from cheap high milage used parts to remanufactured parts and all with different levels of warranty.

My experience purchasing a used engine from Used Engines Inc has been wonderful. Their custoner service is extremely helpful and responsive. In particular, I would like to single out Sarah Williams, Jesse Hopkins, and Elena Wilson for their excellence. Many used engine companies are unrelitable and consequently have terrible BBB scores. In contrast, the BBB score of A+ for Used Engines Inc. seems to me entirely warranted.
Just received my second purchase from this company. First purchase went so well, when another car needed a engine, I called them first. Engine arrived this morning well package and in good condition, Definitely gonna look over it more carefully in the next few days, but I'm confident it'll be everything the promise it to be. In my experience with Used Engine Inc., I would NOT shop at this place for any large items. Especially for an engine! As I stated in my initial review, the beginning process was better than I expected. Unfortunately, my biggest fears did come true. I should have known something was strange when I was constantly sent emails from Used Engine Inc., to post a review not even two weeks after receiving the engine. PLEASE!!! make sure to read any and all parts of the contract thoroughly with this company. Because you will be surprised what is and what is not covered even if its covered under a warranty. I found this out after a heated conversation with a female representative about a part that did not come with the engine. I informed her I would be editing my review. That must have hit a sour note because then I was transferred to a male representative and was offered a courtesy of $75 towards the part needed for the engine. The male representative sent me text messages on who to contact for the part. I called the company that he suggested only to find out that the part was $175 more than the male representative quoted. And to top it all off, I would have to drive over an hour and half to pick it up because that company did not do shipping. I end up finding the part that I needed at a salvage shop closer to home and came out of pocket for $250.00. I was then told by the same male representative the $75 would be sent in a form of a check thru mail. . And to make matters even worse, I find out through my mechanic that another different part was needed for the engine. Imagine my surprise that no place and I do mean no place has the part that I needed. After a month and a half of constantly calling the male representative and receiving unprofessional text message from the male representative, I was then asked what was my "Venmo" information so the $75 could be issued to me. I informed the male representative that I would not provide my "Venmo" information and just send the check as we confirmed when this issue started. He claimed the $75 would be credited to my account. Let's just say, I have not seen nor do I expect to receive that courtesy credit. To sum this up I will say, BUYER BEWARE!!!!!
AWSOME Service !! Very Professional and courteous. They answered all my questions and concerns on purchasing and engine for my Genesis Coupe. Fast shipping and they also provided a tacking number for my purchase. They were also good on returning my text messages with any questions that I had. I would highly recommend this company.
Super friendly and shipped as promised fast. My mechanic said that he could tell that great care was taken while removing the engine from the donor car. To quote my mechanic, "It is very unusual for a junk yard to take the time and not cut all the wires" All the harness were still intact and time was taken to plug all holes so no debris would get inside the engine.

I ordered a motor on June 18, 2024 and the company told me 3-5 business days for it to ship. No big deal it’s a complete motor that has to be prepped for shipping. Well it was shipped on the 26th which is a little longer than what was told but it’s fine just a day or two late. I received the motor after shipping issues on July 5. Upon inspecting the motor I wasn’t going to be able to use motor without fabrication done to the block. I contact them on July 8 and tell them my issue. I’m transferred over to another “agent” who can help me with this. I sent quotes over for the repair cost rather than waiting for another motor to be sent to me and they approved the amount and will send it to me on Zelle within 3-4 business days. Well here I am on July 18th and I’m just getting the runaround about it. I’ve spoke with Sarah Williams and Elena Wilson. I have been told every day it’ll be no later tomorrow. That is not the case and I have a feeling I’m not going to be seeing any money. I will attach pictures of what was sent to me. The damage is on the block and has been welded (poorly) and the other piece just laying on top of the motor. They had to have known issues and just sent anyways. I will change my rating as soon as issue is resolved.
