We brought our 2018 2500 HD into Stewart’s Automotive and, listen… if every mechanic shop was like this, the world would have fewer trust issues. From the first minute, they treated us like family — not the “we’ll call you back in 6-8 business weeks”. They’re humble, they’re kind, and they genuinely care about the work they do. You can feel it the way you feel Texas heat in July: undeniable.
We’re military and from out of town, so walking into an unknown shop usually feels like gambling with your wallet.
But these folks?
No games. No mystery charges. No nonsense.
They explained everything clearly, and didn’t treat us like we were clueless. They simply did what they said they would do… and then did it BETTER.
They worked on our truck like it was their own mama’s vehicle. The passion they put into the truck was unreal. You’d think they were tuning a NASCAR pit crew vehicle, the way they treated our truck. It’s running smoother than it has in years. I swear when we turned the ignition, it purred like the Holy Spirit whispered over it.
Finding people like this is a rare encounter in the wild. They’re the kind of honest, hardworking, hometown shop that makes you rethink why you ever wasted time anywhere else. If you want a mechanic that won’t ruin your day, your bank account, or your blood pressure, Stewart’s Automotive is it.

We have brought our vehicles here for different issues and they have always been courteous, fair and fast. They thoroughly researched what was going on with our vehicle to accurately diagnose the problem. They explained everything to us and were upfront about the cost to get it fixed.
THEY ARE THE BEST..... I have had my cars in there multiple times and they have been more than fair with me. I give them a 10 out of 10 any day. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
I was having some trouble with my car, and I called the store even though they already were closing up shop.
They told me to bring it by anyways, and as they were looking at it they found what was the problem and helped solved it.
Thanks to their help, I could drive from point A to point B perfect.

I can’t say enough good things about this place and especially Doug. We were traveling through when my check engine started blinking, got it to him and he told us he thought it’d be cylinder 7 blow out (bad news) but then took me and my friend out and showed us how he was testing to see what it is. Come to find out just a bad spark plug! He got us in and out within an hour at a super fair price. If you have any car troubles, come here you won’t regret it.
I've owed them this review for several years now. Years ago I was commuting pretty far on military orders and my car broke down. They did everything they could to fix it and worked with me despite the inconveniences of timing and location considering I was far from where I was coming from and where I was going.
I'd trust them anytime, especially in a time of need. Their service and hospitality stuck with me, they more than earned this review.
The owners and their team are very friendly and knowledgeable Gave me honest up front diagnosis with my car. Good prices. Even gave me a ride home and picked me up while car was being worked on. Would recommend to any one. Belinda R
Friend took Ram Truck in to get auxiliary diesel tank installed in bed. Tank was installed perfectly. Friend was so impressed with service that he returned next day to have truck serviced. Friend was so impressed that he now will not take truck anuwhere else. Talked with owner and he informed me that he had just purchased the shop and still getting things up and running. Honorable folks doing good work. Truck broke down 5 hours from home and took it to the closest spot - thankful it happened to be Stewart’s. Ended up needing an entirely new transmission, I left it in their hands for about 2 weeks until I could get back down to Hondo. Doug and his team made sure everything was done right and worked with me to get the truck running like new again in a short period of time.
Stewart’s Automotive did a great job for us. We were away from home and our car developed a terrible squeak. My husband is a mechanic and he was able to diagnose the problem and we bought the part in Hondo. Stewart’s worked us into their busy schedule even though we had no appointment. They confirmed the diagnosis and did a very professional job installing our part and they were all very courteous. They performed a safety check and sent us on our way.
I took car in for hose changes. They had one mechanic and were a little behind. I wasn't in a hurry. After near 6 months he was telling me my engine was blown! I got it out of there. Not happy at all. They ruined my car!

Took my truck in for a/c repair and they did great work fixing it. Even checked out another leak I had that ended up being unrelated.

These guys are crooks. Stay away from this place. Took my suv to get an estimate for a alignment which was caused by a loose tie rod. Stewart's mechanic checked it. They claimed that the shock and strut assembly was no good and that it caused the tire to have too much play which caused the tie rod to loosen. Mechanic tried demonstrating by putting a steel bar underneath the tire and lifting as if the whole wheel assembly would move up and down which it didn't. I already knew he was making it up. Went inside the office and the secretary was already setting up a date to repair my suv and it would cost over $600. Told her that all i wanted was an estimate for an alignment and replace the tie rod. She told me that it was then $20 for the diagnostic (the guy with the steel bar). I put a $20 bill on the table and as soon as I did the owner, which I think is Stewart grabbed it and put it in his pocket. These guys over price their repairs way too much. Don't go here. I wouldn't even give them one star if I could but I had to. Try other shops that are reputable and honest.
Had a radiator hose for an older car that needed replaced .. called at 7:59. Had car there at 9:00 and they were done at 10:00. Can't get better than that and price was fair..
Yesterday was my second visit with them. Everyone is just amazing. I can't say enough about the service...they have all my business for life. Thank ya'll so much for having just good old fashion service. It is much appreciated
They had our vehicle for months. Never could properly diagnose it. Everyone we spoke to said something different. The woman at the service desk is a monster. She has zero customer service skills. We finally took our car somewhere else after 4 months of back and forth and waiting. I ignored the reviews…lesson learned for me…I strongly advise others from going here.
If I could give them 0 stars I would. I told them all I wanted was a diagnostic test on my truck and they couldn't find the problem and started to "fix" things that didn't need fixing and they wanted to charge me almost $500 for it. Worst auto shop I've ever brought my vehicles to.
Dean and his people have serviced the 2 motorhomes I've had over the past 14 years and now my car. I've never had a complaint. Dean has gone out of his way to help a handicapped old lady to keep her wheels on the road.
Good quality work. I do think they should build credit card processing fees into their pricing. If my bill is already $40 more than the quote, then I really don't want to get there and have another $10 worth of fees... Just give me the bill and call it good. Isn't it a part of business expenses to pay credit card processing? I don't charge my clients extra to process their credit cards... It's just bad business in my book.
They were fast with my inspection but had no mask. Made me uncomfortable to be around people not wearing a mask and possibly spreading covid to me dispite my wearing a 😷 to protect them.
I have over 50 years of mechanic experience, all the needed tools, the knowledge, but no longer have the physical ability to do my own car repairs. My car is a Volvo S80 T6, Twin turbo, cam belt, alt., front crankshaft oil seal, and, serpentine belt needed to be replaced, the work was done as professionally as if I would have done the work. The mechanics get an A+ on their work !
Got charged $100 for an oil change (brought my OWN oil and filter) and waited for 2 hours. The staff was bad, the owner had no clue what he was doing. Don't come here if you need something done on your car, even something as simple as an oil change, go elsewhere.
