Called the Magnolia location to check on availability of flooring. Trevor promptly answered the phone and actively listened to what I was looking for. He recommended some great flooring based on our specific needs. Trevor offered to FaceTime so I could see the actual flooring he suggested since I was out of town. From a customer service standpoint Trevor knocked it out of the park. Thanks again Trevor for your genuine customer service.
Priced a shower/bath enclosure/mold....dirty from the outside elements. The lady on the radio says something over $1000, but if they buy it today $999. You're joking, right? That's not a "salvage" price. Lol
Pretty good prices. I did find a front door for my craftsman home that was significantly cheaper than other similar doors. It's a great place to get ideas. They sometimes have stuff that you cannot find at the box stores.
Best place around! If you are looking for cabinets, this is your place. No one has the same quality of cabinets for the price. The staff is great and works with you every step of the way. I would recommend them to anyone.
We run a remodeling company and use them almost exclusively for our kitchen remodels. They also have a large stock of bathroom vanities and fixtures, interior/exterior doors, and more.

This use to be a responsibly priced. Where you could get great deals. Not so anymore! There was a time you couldn't find a parking space. I was the only care there. Won't be going back.
My family and I have going to Railroad salvage for over 25yrs. I can't say enough good things about there customer service there materials for remodeling or new furniture. They have always been honest and courtesy to us. You can't go wrong with Railroad salvage.
I am a contractor and deal with Knox Rail all the time.
They treat me like family. Everyone is always so friendly and helpful. Their prices are very reasonable and they stock a large amount of home improvement items that I use on a daily basis.

I picked up a french door for one of my customers. He got a great press on the door and it was in good shape. A lot of times there will be staples sticking out or the door will be Iwarped, But this one was good. They also have great prices on their Cabinets and vanities.
The variety and price of exterior and interior doors is great. Shawn is a wonderful customer service guy. There are some neat tile options as well, and the styles in stock come and go. Right across the street is Old City Kitchens, which works together with Knox Rail Salvage, and they also offer fantastic variety of wood cabinet options and great customer service.
Love coming here. High quality cabinets still less expensive than the big box stores. Lots of options, tile, flooring and even a showroom to help with ideas and for special orders. The staff is very helpful, knowledgeable and definitely not pushy.
This place is HUGE! They have a decent selection but I would not shop for carpet here. They mainly sell value carpet. Their hardwood selection is decent, but smaller than expected. They have some of the best prices in town, but you have to hire your own installer/contractor and pick up your own product. This was going to be too much of a hassle to save a few bucks. The showroom was being redone, but the whole atmosphere needs improvement. Overall 6/1]
I can't say enough about this place. I came looking for Rail ties, I ended up having Michael, renovate my kitchen blueprints. EVERYONE in Rail Salvage is AMAZING!!! Since I found it, I've been there more than weekly.. They are so helpful and kind. EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!! From kitchen cabinets, flooring, tile, questions, The gals at the desk have even given me places to go as far as the lakes and rivers.. They are my GO TO for EVERYTHING! And let me tell you about the guys that work their buns off on the dock... I love these guys...!!!!!
I absolutely love this place! I have done two major renovations and have used the cabinets and could not be more happy with the quality! By far the best value around! We also used their flooring, stair treads, exterior and interior doors and farm sink. Jonathan designed my kitchen and could not be happier! Shawn went above and beyond helping me with windows and doors.
I love this place. Nancy, one of the owners has been so kind to us. We had a cabinet which did not measure up to their standards. She up graded our cabinet and sent Tim to our house with the new cabinet. Then during one of the many times our second cabinet was moved we dropped it. Ww couldn't get it back together. When we phoned Nancy said bring it back in we'll fix it. When we took it up there, we told them what happened, they took it upstairs, thus was on a saturday at 11p.m. They close at noon. We were picking up more flooring and bathroom tile. They had it fixed before we left! (It helped that we were honest they told us). They have been great during this whole ordeal, and yes it has been an ordeal, but not where they have been concerned. My vanities would have cost us twice what I paid for them, and they are beautiful. They even helped me with a matching piece to my vaniety to cover our HVAC return.
Our experience here was 5 stars ALL the way!!!! We couldn’t be happier with these cabinets!! We saved over $3500 LESS than the big box stores and these are PLYWOOD NOT CHEAP PARTICLE BOARD like the big box stores!!! Definately check them out to save $$$$
I recently rehabbed an old house in South Knoxville. I bought both my kitchen cabinets and my hardwood floor from Knox Rail Salvage. Everything looks great.
I went with unfinished wood cabinets and stained them myself. They are beautiful.
I had a problem with the finish on the hardwood floor bubbling and flaking after installation. Joel from Knox Rail Salvage worked with me to get it refinished and it now looks great! I am very happy that he stood behind the product he sold me and did what was needed to make it right.
I will definitely shop here again.
From the outside it does not look like much. When you go inside you find a treasure trove of all kinds of household improvements. There is everything from door hardware to kitchen cabinets and benches. This is a true surplus store from the old school. If you want to find hidden gems, make sure you have lots of time. If you are looking for bathroom vanities, you will find great prices and much better made pieces then you will find at Lowes or Home Depot. The kitchen show room is across the parking lot and is as professional and correctly displayed as you will find anywhere. You will get much more here for the money then you will anywhere else I have found.
If you need parts and pieces for your house at discounted prices and you haven't been here, Go!! There's a little bit of everything you could need in a pinch and it's looks nice. We purchased a bathroom cabinet, knobs, bathroom faucets, some cleaning chemicals, discounted spray paint, and a front door mat. I swear I love this place! Warning! It's freaking hot as hell in this place in the summer! You will not be in there in July without sweat in places that make you feel uncomfortable. So get a list, stick to it and get out! People working here are pretty nice but perhaps not the most customer friendly in other aspects, I think it may be the heat.
About 6 weeks ago we bought our bathroom vanity top from Knox Rail Salvage for our bathroom remodel. We are extremely happy with it and its beautiful! The price was great for what we got it for. Everywhere else was asking way more than what we paid at Knox Rail Salvage. We actually got to pick our vanity top out (the opened the box for us to see our product) before we bought it to make sure we liked the design. Since every vanity top design is different when it comes to marble. The quality is on point and amazing. The top itself is very very heavy so that should tell you something. The sales man that helped us gave us tips for safe travels home with it and how to carry it correctly so that it did not break or crack in the center. He also gave us tips on how to do the install. It did only come with the back splash and no side panel in the box it came in. He assisted us with getting a side splash piece as well. They were quick to get it down to us on the loading dock to take it home. They helped to load it in our vehicle as well. They have so much home improvement items. Tons of flooring carpet, vinyl, laminate, and hardwood flooring. They have doors, cabinets, vanities and tops, mirrors, lighting, stair materials, mailbox items, faucets, contact paper, back splash, accessories for projects, door handles, rugs, furniture, wall paper, decor, and much more. Not to mention the items that you can special order. You can spend alot of time looking around this place. They have anything you really need for a home improvement project. The staff was super friendly and always willing to help us out. We had probably three or four people ask if we needed help with anything that we were looking at.
