Stopped in here today for my first time only had 29 lb of cans I go up to the office guy gives me a check every scrap yard I've ever been to pays cash unless you're driving a roll off you got you know 2000 lb of something You're going to get a check but if you're coming in getting a little bit of cans and you got a little bit of copper it's always cash I worked for Berkowitz scrap and iron in Niles Ohio driving a lugger truck for over 20 years and they always pay cash They still pay cash unless like I said you're driving a roll off you're bringing in steel turnings stainless something like that a large amount you're paid with a check but always pay with cash for cans people are picking up those cans and hoping to make a little bit of money but when you give them a check they have to pay to get that check cashed guy tells me he does 150,000 every day from that office I called that a little over exaggerating because I looked around there was nobody else in the scrap yard nobody unloading nobody picking anything up and I know dang well you don't pay $150,000 a day in Morristown for cans next time I'm definitely taking it somewhere else If I have to drive to Knoxville it doesn't matter with a truck a full as long as you don't have to listen to ignorance It's worth the trip
Morristown iron and metal has always treated me with the utmost professionalism and I've always felt like they've done me right after unloading my metal there.
The gentleman that work here where very nice and helpful explains how and want to recycle check should be in the mail a week after you recycle copper which is fine bcuz I understand why they do this. Always bring your ID to recycle anything. They are building a new building for the recycling plant to improve their storage and traffic routes. I had a great experience with them.
Absolute rip off artists. My fault for assuming they would give me what their app was listing for the current pricing. CAT5 at 30 cents per pound. Never again will I, or anyone I know go there again. Hopefully by me posting multiple reviews, I can keep total strangers from going there as well. Unbelievably poor business, with an even worse feeling towards their customers. I can't even get someone from there to communicate with me. Oh well. One star reviews daily for the next year or someone needs to reach out to me and make this right. DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE PEOPLE!!!!
If you're looking to bring any copper here, don't bother. 30 cents for cat 5 and 40 cents for 12-2. Take your business to Kingsport. A bit out of the way. But they won't completely rip you off. About $1 $1.50 for cat 5.
Well, there used to be signs posted to tell you where to go but not now there's no direction whatsoever and I guess they assume you can read minds. It would be nice if you knew where to go to and who's in line.... Other places do this and they used to have pretty clear signs before so I don't know what happened.
DO NOT take any scrap copper to this place . I took very little . 94.00$ worth on the 16th of march . I still have not recieved payment for it . Waiting on the check . It is now April 6th . I’ve called multiple times .they told me 7 days . Said they can cancel the check if I pay the 35$ canceling fee. I will go to greeneville , Knoxville . Somewhere other than this place next time .
Thieves. CHARGED US 250 LBS DEDUCTION for a 2 lb piece of wood!. Read please: recently went with a iron harp in our load that was factory bolted to a thin plywood backing, And only one who could have even seen it to know was a non-english speaking Mexicano, (he was new too relevant only because he did not speak English to us, and potentially could have been reported incorrectly from communication, but I doubt it) it was mixed in the rest of heaped metal pile. and I know I was cheated. The worker must have called it in to scale office and got it completely wrong with weight being off bad with his obvious guessing. Drove away as I opened up check to see it's amount. Shocked. I been going there over 15 years. And I'm familiar with what it should have been. I wasn't consulted over a 250 lb discrepancy. They naturally assumed that the 2 week old employees guestimated amount was more right than a fair assessment would be worth doing. If you withhold SOMEONE ELSES MONEY they earned by the metal you accepted, and inaccurately guess the weight of an object, you are stealing money from the customer who would have been happy to remove the small wood backing instead of not being told and for the employee to report without weighing, as nd for another employee to assume everything and again, not say anything to customer before deciding to keep 250 lbs of metal over a 1/4" piece of plywood is THEFT. and what cones around, goes around.
I've been coming here on and off for years. Never had any issues personally. 1 of the 2 highest paying yards between Morristown and Knoxville. If you know the current price before weighing out it helps set your expectations. I haul scrap from all over, and this is where I prefer to go. Know your metals, pre-sort before you leave the house, maximize your profit. And everything is Paved!
Quick. simple, and easy. I just wasn't expecting to get a check instead of cash. Their ad is a little deceiving when they say you get your money right then and there. You kinda do and you kinda don't. Just be prepared to gave to go to oe more place before cash is in your hand!
My first experience was an easy and pleasant one. The gentlemen that work here are friendly and helpful. You get paid by check right there on the spot. They even direct you right to the closest convenience store so you can cash your check immediately.
I think the experience is genuine
and fair people here at Morristown iron n metal treat me right i do think of them as honest and fair as often as I go ther for trade of scrap
I went in today with no money in my pocket enough aluminum scrap to make $4.
When the man gave me my check for the $4 he asked if I would be interested to have a goodie bag and inside the goodie bag is a raffle ticket to where I could went up to $100 I opened my bag and there was a red ticket and I won $50 on a time and day that I needed it the most Morristown iron and metals are heroes in my book and everybody should go down there and contribute your scrap to them and their professional business have a good day

As a child I saved cans since I can remember. Some of my best memories is getting to go to the "crusher".
As an adult, Being in the electrical field, I have frequently patronize this establishment. From saving scrap metal from jobsites. To selling scrap copper mostly.
This goes to the integrity of the crusher. I brought in a big load of copper and I thought it was light on my money. Forgot about it. Month or so passes by and I noticed the discrepancy. I brought it to there attention. Of course they investigated. Handed me over 200dollars and apologized. Pretty dang honest.

honest w/ me and fairly quick. i also enjoyed free bbq when I went there a while back. the guys are nice and polite. unlike other scrap yards that are closer they always give me the highest price. normally the state average is what i am given there.
If it was possible they wouldnt even get one star. Everytime i go there they always cheat me out of what i had. Nobody there does there job properly. Seems to me like they guess on what ya had. Wont go back after my last trip. Tried to give me 4 dollars on a cast iron tub. Charged it as if it was tin and steel. Brought it to the guys attention and he proceeded to guess again on my weight. I just left after that. Wont ever go back.
Crystal Ingram & Nikki Franzen I'm sorry to hear that you both wasn't pleased with your experience. However please keep in mind they do not set their own prices. The prices can fluctuate daily because of the current stock market prices for scrap & metals. It's always best to call ahead and get the current price the same day. They are a very fair company and appreciate their customers. They never set their own price. They have guidlines based on current market prices they have to go by themselves and is never their intention to have any customer unsatisfied or feeling mislead. They will always give you the best price they can based on the going rate. Unfortunately their are times the current national prices drop hurting them as much as their customers.
They will rip you off if they think they can get away with it! I'll never take anything else there!
I took a Ford expo they gave me 193$. And then argued with me that that was the price of metal, when A friend had just taken a small Honda and they got 300$ the same week.
Of course, they got to keep my car because I had to have someone else load and deliver it. There was no way for me to load it back up and take it home which is what I should have done.
Tip: make sure you have the price of metal up front before you give them Your stuff,
their price fluctuates according to how much they feel they can screw you!
