Great folks, very helpful and extremely courteous. Sue, one of the very friendly staffers, was particularly helpful and friendly, with the highest form of professionalism and courteous service’. And this wasn’t my first time there, and I’d gladly go back anytime!!!
My husband and I drove two hours to get to this auction. We went to the front desk and I will admit we arrived late. So late in fact that the auction was over. Unaware of this fact we went to the front desk and paid and filled out a form. We then literally went out to the auction and walked up to the auctioneer and was told the auction was over I went to collect my deposit and my money back but was told that I could only have my money back for the deposit even though we didn't see not one car go for auction. NOT ONE.
I have a huge problem with paying for nothing and especially when I wasn't told it was over I was told that I was late but that it was still going. But that was a mistake on her behalf. I was also told that it was policy and that they (she) the company could not return my money. It was only 10 dollars, but it is the principle of the matter and common decency. It was my first time their and I felt completely cheated.
These people are not disclosing that those cars have bad transmissions and motor issues that can get someone killed are injuried on the road, If this happens file a lawsuit against them, and recommend the other driver do the same. Hold them accountable
SELLERS be AWARE!!! A buyer told a employee at the front counter that a seller agreed to sell him a car for a bogus price. Upstate auction allowed the buyer to take the vehicle home immediately without approval from the seller. Furthermore, the buyer didn't pay any money towards the vehicle before leaving. The owner of Upstate auction agreed with the buyer and refused to return the car to the rightful owner. The owner of Upstate auction knows this is illegal, it is written in the Upstate agreement people sign before putting their vehicle up for auction. If you tell the auction a minimum price that you are willing to accept for your vehicle and they let a so called buyer take it home for almost nothing, file a complaint with the Sheriff department. The is a SCAN!!!
Highly recommend Upstate Auto Auction!! A week ago after being in two car accidents in one day I drove from Athens,GA to check this Auction out with no expectations. Grateful I did because I was pleasantly surprised by the level of professionalism ,service the staff provided, and not to mention the fair auction prices on vehicles being auctioned. These types of public car auctions are few and far between these days. Worth your time and money.

I have been going to Upstate Auto auction for many years, buying both personal and business vehicles. Love this place and the staff. In the many purchases, I have never experienced one single issue. These fine folks do not own the vehicles. They are in business to provide a opportunity to purchase a vehicle of your chose . They are simply the best ! Thanks Upstate. Love y'all.
People smokes inside de building, there's a buy here pay here dealer mafia, they mark the cars they want, they take the keys away, drive the vehicles for 30 min when they find something they like so nobody else can test it... they leave the switch passed to drain the battery and when you go to crank it up us dead.
Staff is great! Those ladies behind the counter know how to treat their customers! I hadn't been back in probably 6 months and they remembered my name lol!... Thanks for treating your customers with respect and common courtesy! Very professional!
Friendly and great understanding I give you the detail of thing what's going on around sell I've been visiting that business there for ever since 94 the great benefit to deal with James Middleton from Columbia I'm still looking for the truck still haven't found my truck I'm looking for I hope you all have one when I get back there whatever the price I don't save up $8,000 I hope I have to don't have to go another year without having a truck maybe don't know about another year this time I'll be saved up to about 16,000 trying to find a right price on the trailer bring the price down all right appreciate it doing business with y'all thank you James Milton from Columbia
Love this place a and it's really sad that it's the only place I can go these days where people know my name and or is nice and friendly as everyone should be so kudos to the upstate auction crew also to Chad hyder for managing such a great operation.
Not the brightest bunch. This place really needs to get it together. I’ve purchased two cars from this place and have had issues getting the correct titles and paperwork both times. The first car we bought it took over two weeks to get the title and when it did come we went to the dmv to transfer it and they told us upstate didn’t give us the most up to date title. For the second car it took two weeks to get the paperwork/title and the reassignment document was missing.
The auction sold my son a LEMON. The car only worked less than an hour. He drove it home, by the time he made it home is was smoking from the tail pipe and the Transmission light came on. The car did not last an hour. Monday, on the way to take the car back to the auction because he only had it for 10 minutes prior to them closing on Friday, it started smoking really bad, cut off and would not start again. Never made it and had to be towed. The car has a blown motor and he only had it for less than an hour before this happened from the date of purchase on a Friday. The problem I have with this is we all buy used cars but to intentional take someone's money and sale them a LEMON, it is not ok. Someone who worked and saved there hard earned money to buy a car. I started calling the Upstate Auto Auction in Spartanburg on Monday morning at 9am, I spoke with Sheila. She said the owner would be in at 10:30am and she would deliver the message. I called about 5 times on Monday, so many times Monday they knew my name and number and continued to tell me I would get a callback from the owner. I was promised a call back on Tuesday again from the owner Charone, it did not happen. I was promised a callback on Tuesday, Monday at 4:30pm by Kathleen Perry a callback from the owner it did not happen, no callback. This is bad business and The Upstate Auto Auction in Spartanburg is solely responsible. A formal Better Business Bureau complaint has been filed against Upstate Auto Auction in Spartanburg, a Consumer Complaint with the FTC has been filed and a review on every website this company is listed. This will not be overlooked and we will not take a loss due to a companies blatant lack of Professionalism and Integrity. Do Not Do Business with the Upstate Auto Auction in Spartanburg, SC.
Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. The sale and presentation of their inventory is excellent. The only change I would suggest is to have a set minimum on the vehicle at the time of the auction so that if you bid on a car as an individual, you know immediately if it’s a “no sale” or “sale”. As it is, if you win the bid, you can’t bid on another car until they can call to see if the seller will accept the auction price. I’m not complaining though, admiring the beautiful young lady that helped me at the window was well worth the drive and price of admission. Overall a great experience
Bought lots of card and trucks here both good and bad but people you get what you pay for. I have bought some great cars for less than 500 and a couple lemons for lots more. But you go in look them over drive them check them out. Don't complain cause you bought a cheap car and it does on way home
Awesome bought few car only down fall some lady driving car a in an out keep telling me I couldn't be in there we had numbers bought truck. An jeep lady just kept at it my cuz paid for the cars an we left staff need better training will go back an see how it goes
I don't think it's fair for people to purchase a car and once you drive off in it whatever the problem is you are responsible. Especially if it's the engine or transmission. The owner should be ashamed of himself but I guess as long as he's making money nothing else matters!
Great place!, Very helpful and I friendly workers, plenty of parking an since they only have one auction a week they have lots of vehicles to pick from, make sure to bring plenty of money tho!.
Fun place to see an auto auction, open to the general public. The place is clean and well run. A privately run fast food restaurant is on site with several sandwich selections and friendly service.
Over priced trash, and if it drives, you'll find out a few miles later why it was it was at this auction. Anything nice enough to drive is priced above retail. If you "win" an auction, you have an hour to arbitrate. Any "honest" car auction knows, you can't find any issues with the powertrain in that short of time. It's a dishonest dealers paradise!
Upstate Auto Auction is a great place to buy cars. The whole staff is friendly and very helpful. It is just a great environment to be in. I would recommend upstate auto auction to anyone who is looking for a great car buying experience.
