CMC Recycling JunkYard in Columbia (SC)

As previously stated, the cashier is extremely rude and 100% disinterested in being helpful or even personable. She is the major reason we won't be coming back. The gentlemen in the back were more helpful; but as a member of the general public, I found the entire process cumbersome and confusing. Not sure about prices, so I can't speak to that.

This company does not accept cartridge brass from Individuals. As a first-time customer this morning I brought in a bucket of yellow brass (fired shell casings). When I removed the bucket lid revealing its contents I was told that they could not accept it because I was not the owner of a commercial range. No other rationale or explanation given. I put the bucket back in my trunk and left. I'd like to know specifically why this scrap was refused. It was 100% clean. No steel, aluminum, or live/dud rounds. This policy should be posted on CMC's website. I give this experience three stars as the woman working the front office was cordial and helpful as much as she could be. I wish I had told her what I was bringing in as it would have saved me the effort.

Lots of folks may fuss about the cashier. I got told that only one person is allowed in the office after reading the clearly-posted sign. She is doing her job, and managing an unruly, thankless task that is vital. I salute her and all the fine folks here that bust their behinds all day just to provide. That is America.

Great place to take your unwanted metal scrubs. But there directions for the first time or person goes once in while are NOT clear. it was a first time for me today (08/05/22) I took a truck full of steals & aluminum, when I return I didn't wait until the lady sent some kind of signals. I don't know what is the signal so I just left without getting any payment -hot outside 100 deg.!! My bad!!

Consistently open which is more than I can say for some of the other scrap yards in the area. They do require a permit for copper, so if you don't got one you'll need it. Had to go get one from the sheriffs department. Other than that everything was good, just follow the directions and youll get in and out easily. Shout out to the guys in the back, even though it was busy they were very nice in explaining what I needed to do! To the woman in the front, thank you for being patient with me lol.

The first time I tried to visit was like 10 min before google said they closed (I work crazy hours, so I was working with the time I had), but they said they were already closed. I just drove out of my way a second time to go again. For someone who’s never been there, it’s honestly really confusing what to do and where to go. Also, the person working wasn’t the most friendly/acted like I should just instinctively know where things are and how to go about their operations. Additionally, I was stopped by some guy just before getting my money from the atm, because he apparently had been using it earlier and couldn’t wait for me to retrieve all my riches ($3) without him first getting assistance for his thousand+ dollar transaction. I got sick of while someone attempted to help him, especially after already feeling uncomfortable here - so I just left.

We have been running dedicated for these guys for 3+ years and never asked for a rate increase. We had a meeting to discuss an increase for 2021 and our main contact conveniently didn't show. Instead offered our driver direct employment. If you like your drivers and want to keep them, don't send them into CMC.

They make it quick and easy and they pay fair prices for most things. They know their stuff and they’re always fair and honest. Even though prices are slightly higher across the River, this is one of the best scrapyards in town for experienced recyclers and beginners!

Rude and inattentive cashier. She was more interested in gossiping with her co-worker than taking care of customers. Also they don't pay near as much as other recycling companies in the Columbia area. My advice: Use ANYONE but CMC!! Will never use them again. Poor service plus poor rates equal a horrible business in my opinion.

First timer. Staff walked me patiently through each step. Did not offer to help me unload. I also did not ask for help. Office staff very helpful. Would not hesitate to return. Kind of hard to find location.

Do not follow Google directions. Stay on shop road and look for the CMC sign. Edit: I come here every day to scrap and all I have to say is some of the public are just blatantly rude. Who raised y'all? these people are trying to do their jobs and you are getting mad at them. Shame.

I want to say the lady at front desk held her cool when the guy I was hauling for went off an me and her while I was on the phone with him. She was professional about it.

They are completely professional and do not try to cheat you out of money . easy unloading and great people working.goid experience every time I have went .

Loading process was quick but the lady at the office had some serious issues rude behavior, Unprofessional in my 1 years of trucking experience never encountered this kind of attitude.

terrible place to do business, 64 pounds of copper wire #10THHN $12 in price. Told me once it touches their scales its their property.

The woman in the office is really rude and it was my first time there and she really didnt help one of the truck drivers help me

worker was diligent in processing stage to insure we got our money with extra running.
