Was busy building a display for an upcoming trade show so the wife and kiddo went to grab some more square stock. She went to the recycling building first by mistake. The lady in there had a nasty attitude and directed her to the new metal shop. The employees in the front office absolutely the same and very unhelpful to a lady and kid. Thank goodness for the gentleman in the back who helped her get what she needed cut it and loaded it on the truck for them. Front office staff you could take a lesson in treating new customers right from the workers you have in the back working in the heat all day. Do better guys if you want to keep these brick and mortar stores open and keep folks from ordering online so they don’t have to be treated this way.
The absolute best place to bring scrap metal. Friendly professional staff. Always received fair prices for any of the scrap metal that I have brought. I have been to "other" places and I will never go anywhere but Mid-Carolina steel and recycling from now on. Treat them with respect and they will treat you with respect.
Trucks delivering new steel beams, bars etc - use south entrance, then you will have to make u-turn in front of the long yellow building and roll into the bay.
Don't go to scale, it's for scrap only.
Delivery is fast enough, they use crane.
Definitely will not return. I had a 5x8 enclosed trailer filled to the max with aluminum cans and they paid me a total $70.00. What a rip off. That should have been around 250 pounds.
Started coming here in December because prices advertised were better than others in town, dropped off about 15,000 lbs of steel throughout a couple weeks and they paid me fairly for it. Then I come back and they complained that some of the steel still had screens attached last time I came (I know they don’t take screens so I didn’t dump them, it was six or seven I missed) less than 100 lb of screens out of 15k lb of cheap steel (.06). So the owner got back at me by weighing my two (2) tall pallets of computers himself and giving me wayy less than advertised. Told some recycler friends what happened they said they weren’t surprised because that old guy that runs it is like that. I won’t take any non-ferrous here ever again because they haul it away to the workshop and THEN tell you what it weighed and what price.
Went there after work this morning. First time I'd ever been there. Nice people to deal with, especially Ray. He answered a ton of my questions and was extremely helpful! I'll be back with a bigger vehicle very soon. Good selection of scrap metal. I picked up some aluminum, stainless, and mild steel to practice tig welding.
Every one was great !!!! Except on August 27, around 4:00 pm when went to window to get paid,the woman was really, really,rude !!! She acted like she was mad because I was the last to unload,and had alot.so this caused her to work over a little.she was very rude, unfriendly,and she I ask her,or tried to ask,she wouldn't answer,or she snapped my head off !!! Very unprofessional !!!! Can't see how she still has a job there !!!! So rude!!!!!
Awesome place if you need to buy steel. They have an awesome variety of different types of steel, both new and used or surplus scrap that can b purchased at a tremendous discount. Some Awesome Christian Folks That Work There Too!
I liked the money outcome but the front desk staff ehhh. Just rude. You ever feel like someone feels that you need them more than they need you. That's how the front staff will make you feel. Have a good day everyone, you too white lady in your early 50s with the old school bang hair style.
The costumer is way better than any scrap yard I have been to. The people actually greet you and help you. This is the best by far and they actually pay.
I'm a local welder/fabricator and metal art hobbyist and I really love having this steelyard close in town to pick my poisons. Wide selection of practically anything and some of the friendliest sales associates around. The whole staff is great and very honest.
This was my 1st scrapping experience.so not sure how other places are.The only thing I didnt like was they pay u wit check but Customer service was great...The worker running the scale has very personable and explained all he was doing..We got there at 3 on a Friday and workers were on break till 3:15.from there it went pretty fast. We took in copper and got 2.20 for #1 and 2.10 for #2..
Mid-Carolina pays more than other local scrap yards. They hv a good business set-up. They are friendly but strictly business. They give each client documentation of sale with weight, metal type and price. I like that for personal records.
Went out here for the first time today. The people were friendly and I got what I was looking for and was really surprised by how inexpensive it was. They didn't have more exotic stuff but they had lot's in low carbon steel and lots in 6063 aluminum. I'll probably be back in the future.
This place is a complete rip off. They give you little or nothing for the stuff you bring in and turn around and sell it for 20 times more. Bad ownership, all together. Take your metal to CMC in Lexington
