I've been taking car here for almost 2 years. I am glad I found them, and know my car is always in great hands with them. Gus is one of the most helpful and knowledgeable service experts I've ever consulted with, and he's upfront, honest and always tries to go above and beyond.
They've also recently added Andrew who is also super knowledgeable, friendly, and happy to help any way that they can.
Took my Audi in for major interval service, State inspection, and to address some minor issues. The service team there was very helpful and professional in identifying the solutions and completing the request requested work. happy with the Service and Will use them again.

This shop knows its stuff and is professional, trustworthy, and fair. They completed major engine repairs on my A6, and the car runs amazing. They didn't try to overcharge me, or recommend unnecessary repairs to increase the bill.
After being ripped off by numerous incompetent mechanics who lied about knowing how to fix German automobiles, this shop was a breath of fresh air. These guys are "real" mechanics who can figure out the solution to complex problems. They are certainly not the typical part replacers who tell you to replace your engine when you only need an oil change. The shop also stands by its warranty and will correct any errors. I wish I found this place sooner. Bring your German cars here for serious work. These guys are the real deal.
My car was serviced by this shop several years ago, before I owned it. I wanted to get more complete service records for the car, and Erika provided me all the invoices they had very promptly. That sort of service speaks very well of German Auto Specialists!
Nick and the team are a life saver. He jumped in head first after a different shop had conducted a repair and failed to identify an issue after installation. Nick and the team were very communicative during the process and also sent me videos. As a woman I have never felt more comfortable entering a shop than I do with Nick and the crew!
They did a PPI for a local car I was buying private party. Made the hassle of buying so much less, was able to give me a comprehensive report on the vehicle, and it was very thorough. I appreciate their help and Nick was great.
I can sacrifice a nearby restaurant for the skill and expertise of Nick and his crew. Everyone at G.A.S. Is friendly, helpful and professional… with also a good sense of humor! I own two VW Classic Beetles and just had my ‘73 there for an engine rebuild to finish out my wheels-up restoration.The care they took with the details borders on OCD-like, and their recommendations along the way were considered and sensible. They never try to sell me something my cars don’t need. After a few “misfires” with other shops I’m thrilled to have found a home to rely on.
I took my car in for an oil sensor issue, and they thoroughly diagnosed it and found the initial problem of a cracked oil valve. Not only did Gus keep me in the loop and give me progress reports, but I also was given peace of mind knowing that when I left the shop my car would be in good hands and taken care of. I had my 2017 VW JETTA here today for: gas change, inspection, and check engine light problem that occurred immediately after someone helped me but failed to replace the cap! By the time I returned 3 miles home, the check engine light immediately lit! I had a similar gas cap problem, and my now retired mechanic simply corrected the light and alerted me to the gas cap " exposed to air problem". I was told that my inspection was done but I cdnt get the sticker until a rear end exterior repair. Alex said he wdnt charge for the inspection until my car was repaired. That was kind, but..I went into shock when told I owed $680?? for: 1. an Oil Change of $400 (much more than paid in prior years) and a supposed $200 diagnosis of the " check engine light" which he said: " was not on anymore", and that there was " nothing wrong? " Imagine my horror as I drove home in heavy traffic, to see the steady light ( the steady light is usually a minor problem, contrary to a blinking light.) All my prior mechanics corrected a " check engine light" caused by a gas cap problem, as a " complimentary service! The one time....I was asked to " research the problem myself" in the car manual, I asked them to check the easiest fix, and they completed the repair with a $40 part for under $200! When I called German Auto, upset about the problem, I was told he would call me back today, but never did. *I was not given any apology! After I realized they failed to diagnose OR fix the problem, I texted and left a phone message that I would return tomorrow for a " refund " between the "$200 check paid today, and the under $200 inspection cost that was done, but no sticker pending an exterior repair. I believe that is fair as I was charged for services not rendered, & then told it was fixed..with the light STILL ON!
I couldn't return to discuss this because: I was blocking the exit to their extremely tiny lot, that has no driveway or entrance, nor parking area.(* BOTH my male drivers started shouting at the tiny lot, and sign, with no way to safely pull into) It is located only about 5 buildings below a light at the top of the hill above it. It was especially hard being driven to pick up my car (when traffic was heavy in prior construction zone), and my friend was upset that we were not able to pull in, as someone going into the lot, had stopped with a friend, with 2 cars parked diagonally blocking the entire right lane and front entrance! I had to be dropped off at the next business, and limp uphill with my cane, to the office at the back of the lot. (When I went outside where I was told they would bring out my car, it was parked sideways only 2 feet from adjoining cars. I'm a good driver..but it was too close, & the employee kindly repositioned the car to face the street directly.) * Originally, I came there for service familiar with VW's but cheaper than a dealer. However, given the huge price increase, and a prior review that specifically criticizes their ability to fix a " check engine light problem ", I intend to apply my partial refund to correct this at a dealership. At least Dealerships have Sales and Coupons for Oil Changes and Repair work.. usually $50-$100 off. German Auto's $10 website coupon was negligible. Afterwards. I realized it was foolish to return there for a repair not done after having my car for a day, and then lied to about there being nothing wrong..with the orange check engine light showing? I felt cheated. I am a very loyal customer when treated fairly at reasonable prices. My used 2017 VW JETTA is being charged prices more compatible with luxury foreign cars with incomes to match. I should mention however, that Alex very kindly contacted their Collision expert for an estimate for the repair! It appeared to my experienced eye: the service shop is overextended, understaffed, too small for their work, or the safe parking of customers.(I'm a former labor attorney negotiator for car Dealerships!) Comebacks are bad for business, employees, & the customers!)
Extremely efficient. Alex kept me in the loop about every single service item taking place on the car. He also answered any questions and alleviated any concerns that I had. German Auto Specialists truly cares about taking care of their customers and their cars.
Highly recommend this shop! Alex and everyone there was super helpful. My car had some annoying difficulties and everyone there was super understanding and they even helped me work with a dealer to resolve an issue. They gave a fair estimate prior to the work and stood by it. I’ll be back there from now on. Highly recommend!
Absolutely outstanding service. I did a PPI with the team at German Auto Specialists and have been blown away. They took several detailed documented photos, ran through a comprehensive mechanical snd cosmetic checklist, and reviewed the results with me in 24 hours (Alex took a call over the weekend for me as I was in a rush)! Not only that, they also continued to spend their time and engagement with me post PPI, as I had further questions after the PPI.
It’s very rare to find honest and thoughtful mechanics who truly care about their customers and know their stuff. I know I will be using them as my trusted mechanic, even though I live in NYC. That’s how good they are.

Nick and his staff are TOTALLY AWESOME.. Alex and Erika were very kind and extremely pleasant to talk too. They have excellent technicians that are very knowledgeable. Bought a 1987 Mercedes-Benz 560SL for my wife as a Christmas gift from my regular mechanic. We test-drove it; I checked it out as best i could. Mechanic bought it for a family member who could no longer drive. He put on a new top, new paint, tires and brakes. Having had good prior experience with my mechanic over 12+ years, I assumed it was well sorted out mechanically. It wasn't. I took it back to him THREE times for fuel system and other issues. After the third time, I decided I needed a Mercedes-Benz specialist, but didn't want to go to a M.B. dealer, as I have heard less-than-stellar reviews about their service, including high labor rates and young mechanics who don't know the old-school cars. Found German Auto Specialists. They were NOT much cheaper than the M.B. dealer, but they do have the correct diagnostic equipment to identify specific issues. Knew I made the right choice as we dropped off the car; all German makes in the lot, including many older models. They kept me informed by phone of what was found, and went the extra mile to find parts that are no longer readily available. Given the complexity and age of M.B. fuel & ignition systems, subsequent issues were identified down the line. Again, I was kept informed of these developments, and given the option of fixing now or holding off. I had them do all recommended work so my wife wouldn't get stranded again. Took 2-3 weeks (heavy backlog and time to get parts), but the car SHOULD be properly sorted out now; we'll find out soon enough. My only complaint is, they said they would was the car; not detail it, just wash it. Fine. IF they DID WASH IT, they used some dirty water and or rag and didn't dry it properly; streaks and droplets everywhere! After paying a $2,700+ repair bill, they least they could do is follow through on their offer to wash it and do so PROPERLY.
I will NEVER take my car anywhere else ever! This is my third time getting work done here and should have written the review sooner. The car specialists here are amazing. They are honest, very professional and know their stuff. I went in thinking my car had some expensive issues but only needed minor work and the bill was significantly less than I thought it would be. Don't be afraid to bring your car here. The value is great, the service is friendly and quick.
I have had the opportunity to work with a few independent shops in the Philadelphia area for my 1986 Porsche. Since my initial consultation call with Nick at German Auto Specialists I have not returned to another shop. The overwhelmingly positive experience I have had with their team can be attributed to three things. 1. Attention to detail and communication make for an excellent customer experience 2. The team does top notch work with quality parts for your car 3. They honestly want to hear your feedback - if something isn't right they want to address it.

Simply put, they're the best. JR and his team are super knowledgable, honest and do top notch work. As a car nerd myself, I appreciate their expertise and personalized service. They are very sympathetic to the plight of owning an older German car and stand behind their work 100%, and their prices are very reasonable considering. I've used them for several major repairs on my Audi, which are notoriously difficult cars to work on, and have been very impressed. I wish every business I dealt with was as competent and honest as they are. I highly recommend them.
