Carl is the best around. He is honest and is not going to try and sell you anything unnecessary. He will do his best to fit you into his day or give you a time to come back so you’re not waiting around or without a vehicle. He is reasonable and reliable. We wouldn’t go anywhere else. Honest, reliable and reasonable mechanics and garages are hard to come by, so don’t chance it. Just come here and Carl will take care of you.

New in the area. Made few calls around getting some outrageous pricing for my brakes & rotors. But these people here are exceptional!! I came here before to get inspection, then decided to inquire on getting my brakes changed. They gave me a quote which was very reasonable. Carl spoke to me like a big Brother explained everything & to return in few months to install. The noise that I thought was my brakes, happen to be a broken sensor, which they fixed for me without charge. That brought tears to my eyes (bc they could’ve taken advantage). My little was with me & was able to witness such kindness from both the owner Carl & his mom. God bless Carl & his mom. Very kind, honest. I look forward getting my car serviced here & telling others.
I have been dealing w/ Carl since he took over from Dale Kresge when Dale retired + sold the property + buisness. Carl is very professional + courteous+ honest! This local shop is great to do business with walked in 4pm asked about getting some tires put on. They were busy & was going schedule appt for next day late afternoon. They were waiting on parts for another vehicle.said if can get tires here will try squeeze in. I live local I had the new tires already, ran home & took wheels off car went back to the shop got me in/out 15min. Been doing mechanic work over 30yrs not many places like this exist anymore. Will do business with them again definitely. I would recommend them to local people in town. friendly people no corporate atmosphere & very Fair price great customer service to try accommodate the repairs I needed done. We Got to support these small shops in our town. I do all the repairs/maintenance on my vehicles beside for what I don’t have the tools for which is just alignment,tires,inspection. and Im still very picky who I allow to work on my vehicle.. A+. Satisfied customer wouldn’t think twice to leave my car there if needed to have repair done in future . Thanks independent auto service!!
Karl, owner and operator is kind and super honest. He also shows me the used parts and explains what work was done. Fair, honest and great service! Can’t do much better than that.

Service by appointment only, not even dealerships require that..your competitor helped out! Hours on the door and online say 9am open on Saturday. It's 10am and no one is here. 2 other customers came and left as well during the 1hr we waited. Poor customer service
He is an honest mechanic. He makes sure your safety comes first. Clean and friendly environment. Only he repairs what is necessary. will be coming back again and doing more work.
Terrible experience when the owner fails the cars' inspection, says Quote:
"Why put good money after bad".. unquote
around $3K in repairs.
I had all of the work done elsewhere for $1,575..
I asked when can I bring it in for him to check it and put the sticker on the w/s, he said "Maybe in a week or so"..
He said they're booked. I see his appointment book wide open in front of him, with a handful of appointments and 1 car in the garage.
I went back a week later and asked the same question. "When can I bring it in for the sticker?".
He replied with the same "Maybe next week "..
(Inspection cost $33 +change.
Charges a dollar when you pay w Credit Card)..
The sticker will be another $11.
I arranged to bring it elsewhere and paid $28 for full inspection w sticker..
I wonder how long he'd make me wait, was it bc I had the work done elsewhere? hmm.
Guess where I won't ever be going back to!

(he was unaware that I started bleeding brakes at 5yo, and worked as Manager and Mechanic in all my younger years including being the Manager for 16 Midas Mufflers shops)..lol..

The owner, Carl was personable, took us 20 minutes before our appointment and cost less money than the last time I had the same exact thing done. He also gave us advice for our son's car. I will definitely be going back.
Took a 2018 Rouge to get inspected and oil change and ended up spending $750 on front and rear brakes and roters. The "owner " quotes me $600-650 all in, brakes roters, oil change and inspection. Called me back 2 hours later said it was $794, because he just guessed off the top of his head and didn't calculate the oil change. I told him he should have called me to tell me it was going to be more money and he needed to stand by his original quote of $650. When I disputed father's amount he was charging he blamed it on Biden that everything is going up. I asked him to put my old roters and brakes back on and I was taking my car elsewhere. He then said he couldn't return the parts and if I didn't pay he was going to call the police and have my car impounded. The owner told me he was a professional and had been doing this a long time yet couldn't do simple math or know how much parts and services he does on the regular cost. I went to pick up my car immediately fearing this person would damage my car and when I said I was here to pick up the rouge he says to me "you have the money " he must have felt embarrassed by his behavior so he took $50 off the bill. I DO NOT recommend this shop to anyone. There are at least 6 other shops within a mile of this "establishment" so stay away from here. Oh and by the way I asked for the roters and pads and had another mechanic I know look at them and they were low but we're still passable. STAY AWAY FROM THIS place!!!!!
New owners. They answer their phone - sadly hard to find. Took me right in for a safety inspection. Apparently I needed windshield wipers! - good thing because I hadn't noticed. Nevertheless, I was provided fast, courteous service; and the wipers were cheap. I'll be back in 12 months to try again.
Dale Kresge, Tom and the crew are wonderful. I have used Mt. Effort Service for oil changes, repairs, inspections and regular service for over 30 years. His prices are fair and he will always give reliable advice concerning them. They are the best and I recommend them without reservation. I really don't know what I would do without them. Also I read R.P.'s review below. Dale would NEVER cheat anyone least of all a disabled person. Not who the man is.
If you are looking for honest and trustworthy mechanics that work with you and will keep you informed about what is going on with the health of your vehicles, look no further. I moved over two hours away, but still bring my cars back here for service when they need it.
