They just stole 1 ton of steel from us. We did the same process as always do go over scale take all other metals to the correct area then waited to off load the steel they had workers standing everywhere no one told us that now we have to go back over scale for some reason they no longer know how to do math and subtract metal weight that they have a record of from total weight so they when we had to hand off load worker never asked if we went back over scale as we left no pay for our steel. No signs that they changed process. Thank you for getting back to me I did not see this till after you closed the transaction is under my uncles name he will call and ask for manager in the morning and he will reference this review.
Consistently unavailable to answer phone for scrap pricing. I tried calling a month or so ago multiple times throughout the day and no one answered despite calling the number they left "for immediate attention" as well. What's the point of leaving that number if the guy never answers?? I tried again today with the same results.
I like doing business here. They are detailed with the inspection of the metals and it always seems fair. The office staff and the guys in the yard are friendly and professional. I highly recommend doing business here.
We have been coming here for about 14 years.off and on Because we work hard for our money and Rivergate staff have always been helpful,patient and general pay the most.we appreciate what all employees at Rivergate do each day to get you in and out quickly.and safely. Took in a truck load of 80% brake rotors, iron and engine blocks which is all #2 metal and was given tin prices for everything!! Will never take our metal there again. Be aware of this!

Rude people. They do not pay you for your scrap, very little help from employees. Just go to Metro Metals down the road where the service is good, and they pay you on the spot. I will not be back to this business, ever.

Called ahead to confirm price for yellow brass, and was quoted $1.60, so I loaded up my scrap and drove from hillsboro because they were the only place open on a Saturday only to be offered $1.25 per pound at the scale.

Me and my family have been doing business with rivergate for many years and our experience has always been great. Very professional staff and they always pay a fair price.
By far the best scrap yard in portland. Easy access for a semi truck or a pick up truck. The equipment operators are professional. I have not had any vehicles or trailer damaged unloading, but they do have signs that say damage is possible if they unload you. The staff has always been friendly, and I've never had an issue. I have brought in 30,000lb pieces of machinery, and small pick up loads and received the same courteous treatment. I recommend rivergate to anyone I talk to about scrap metal.
Horrible service came to get rid or my scrap car and they made a big deal abt not having a hole in the tank so i went out of there property and mabe a hole and came back and as soon as i pulled onto the scale they said they can't buy my scrap car worst place to ever go to i went next door to some other scrap buying place and they even paid me more and only asked one question and it was if i had the title.
I own a very well-established towing company in western Washington County so traveling to North Portland is out of our way to say the very least and every time I come in to dispose of unwanted vehicles there's always some issue or some excuse on why they cannot take them! I recommend going down to a better deal just down the street no hassle pays cash and always friendly service.
Disneyland of scrap metal! Good price for my stuff. If you consider the noise, the confusion and the nature of the business, these guys are tops. I have been to other scrapyards that fail by comparison. ... easy to miss the entrance so keep your eyes out if you have not been there before.
They are always quick to unload my trailer and get me in and out all while paying a good honest rate im here a couple times a week i would recommend them to anyone looking for a good price for there metals and quick service
My first time to a scrap yard. They were patient to the fact that I had no idea what I was doing. I didn't get much for the junk that I dropped, but considering that no one else will buy it, it's a good deal.
