The team was friendly and helpful, the cost was reasonable (an oil change costed less than Jiffy Lube), and I felt respected as a customer. I' grateful to live near such a great auto shop!

I've taken my 00 Miata here multiple times and they always treat me well. Last time I went in for a serpentine belt change, and mentioned that I thought the transmission might be acting funny because it was slow off the line and had random starting issues. Turns out it wasn't the transmission at all but a crankshaft pulley and didn't fleece me about the transmission. I'll go there again without hesitation.

I had them replace the pads and rotors on my Jeep SRT. Excellent work and competitive pricing. Will definitely use them again.

I was looking for a reputable and experienced shop to address the subframe reinforcement and rod bearing replacement on my E46 M3. Very happy with the work they performed! Not super fast or cheap, but if you want it done right these are the guys to go to.

I own a 2015 Honda Pilot with ongoing break issues. I tend to use my Pilot to tow my boat in the summers. Unfortunately the added weight of the towing consistently warps my rotors no matter how careful I have been. I worked with Martin with AR Auto to come up with an aftermarket fix for my breaks. They swapped out the break rotors and pads for an upgraded performance set and removed the break dust covers to help with cooling. I noticed an immediate positive difference in breaking and overall handling while breaking. I will report back on this post once I have had a chance to tow for a season or two. As for customer service, they were great to work with and went above and beyond to order the parts and switch out the breaks on a tight timeline for a pending family vacation. The price was comparable to other break repair companies. They even worked with me to pick up my vehicle after hours. I am very satisfied.

This performance shop is by far the best in Portland and I would say ALL of Oregon. Martin from AR Auto went above and beyond to make my 2018 Nissan 370Z Nismo a supercar! I came to Martin with my new Nissan wanting more power and to be much faster. Well he DELIVERED. Martin took charge and ordered all the parts I needed and explained everything every step of the way. Martin put in a Stillen supercharger kit , oil cooler kit, Injen dual cat back exhaust, Defi gauges and Mishimoto Aluminum Radiator. Besides making my car a beast they have excellent customer relations. That's a huge plus in my book. If you have a Z or any car take it to them. Very knowledgeable and you will not be disappointed. I'm very happy and satisfied customer.

Looking for a place to trust your 4-wheeled baby for even an oil change, let alone performance enhancements? If you want a hint as to how this shop is, check out the cars that owners drop off here. You'll see exotic luxury, exotic sports, etc. These guys are top notch. Not the cheapest, but not looking to make a scammy buck off of you either. Honest, decent speed of service, and have been around with the same car-loving ownership for many years. I've been bringing cars here since 2008. Never been disappointed.

When I went to pickup my miata there were multiple porches inside, including a new GT3 RS, an Aston Martin, and a track spec E46 M3. Great shop, great work.

Horrible experience - went in to solve a noise coming from my brakes and first "fix" cost over $700 and noise was still there. Had to spend time to make another appt to do next proposed "fix" for over $300 and had the same noise when I picked it up, even though both times they supposedly road tested car. I was able to reproduce the noise the minute I picked car up. So shame on me now that in over $1000 for a repair they could not do, but wrongly assumed a 5 star review from Google meant they were good. Went to BMW dealer and they found the problem in 5 minutes.. Would not recommend this shop to anyone.

Was having a tough time finding a place to take my Mini Cooper. A 6 year old forum post lead me to A&R, and I'm very glad I chose them. They were well under the prices that the dealership was trying to charge me, and the service was great. It's definitely more of a specialty racing shop (it's in their name), but they did great as far as my general repair goes. Email updates and knowledge of specialists across the country really made the experience for me. As long as I have this car, this is where I'll be taking it.

I've known Eddie and the guys in the shop for years and they have been nothing but fantastic in their work and their desire to go the extra yard. I have sent friends of mine to AR for service work and they all were appreciative of the service they received.

Utterly fantastic service, both on my bmw 540i and my bmw 335i. They do the work 2 twice as well as other shops in about 1/4th the time.... They are always willing to answer questions and talk with you about cars. Eddie is a god with bmws you can't go wrong with AR AUTOSERVICE.

The entire crew is great. The mechanics are really sharp and definitely know a ton about BMW's (I'm sure other cars as well, but BMW is my experience with them). No BS and all around good people.

Excellent shop with amazingly capable and friendly people. Don was a pleasure to work with as he helped me spec out my 335d with a suspension and wheel/tire upgrade. We achieved the exact look and handling characteristics I was looking for. They are also really good about trouble shooting minor issues and won't nickel and dime you on such things. Now that both of my BMWs are out of warranty, AR will handle all the service and repair going forward.

Once again I experienced outstanding service at A/R. Yesterday Eddie was able to fit my car in to an already packed schedule and the entire crew stayed late to make sure everything was done. Not only did I receive outstanding service, I'm always happily surprised when I pay the bill. A/R does amazing, consistent work and always makes time for my vehicles to align with my crazy schedule. I've never met a team of more dedicated people who genuinely care about you and your car - they always take time to explain every detail and offer multiple options whenever possible. I just picked up my M3 from AR the other evening. It was in for some follow up diagnostic work on the secondary air pump system that was replaced the previous year. Eddie and his crew at AR warrantied some parts and from the sound of it put in some serious time diving into the system ensuring it was functioning correctly. Their attention to detail, care for the vehicle while in their possession and trouble shooting knowledge is why I have continued to return for services since 2008.

GREAT SHOP! I wish there were more stars to give. I don't review things online, practically ever - and I don't live anywhere near these guys, so I have no vested interest in their business. Unbelievable, down to earth, above-and-beyond customer service. They fit me in, on extremely short notice, for one of the most thorough pre-purchase inspections I've ever seen. (Called morning of, with only a 2 hour window that would work for me as I live in WA and was looking at a used car between 12-2pm). They even took extra time and sorted through a folder containing 15+ years of service records with me to assist in diagnosing certain issues, and pointing out trouble spots I would have missed (such as skimping when the Previous owner changed the timing belt/water pump, by not replacing seals/gaskets along the way) I even called them several days after, and they spoke to me on the phone for almost an hour to help me troubleshoot & diagnose the issues, source & price parts, give me general advice about problems to look for with the year and model of my car... In general, they're a great bunch of guys. I really can't recommend them highly enough. They have also made themselves readily available on certain forums (Car specific depending on what they own) and freely provide access to a wealth of knowledge and experience - without ever talking down to you. Had heard a lot about these guys from various car forums. When I bought my current car ('99 Miata) I had them do a pre-purchase inspection for $102 (after tax). Worth EVERY CENT! This inspection, and their estimates for repairs saved me over $200 on registration fees and taxes. It was raining when I was able to look at the car, but they identified every dent and ding, and even parts of the clear-coat which were about separate and peel. They correctly identified an issue with the emissions system, which was NOT what the engine code was identifying. (Engine code said O2 sensor, actual issue was catalytic converter - replaced and the O2 sensor was still good! Saved me over $100 right there). They provide service for a wide range of vehicles and aftermarket systems. They KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT. Especially for Miatas - most of the guys there own at least one.

Eddie and Don an the rest of the staff at AR are top notch! Not only are the experts in diagnosing problems (often times they don't even charge to diagnose the problem). I have a sports car and a Toyota Tundra truck, the 2000 Tundra was having a start issue where the engine would start then immediately die. I had taken video of the problem in action, they immediately knew what the problem was (mass air flow sensor), they simply cleaned it, and looked at the throttle body which had lots of build up, they cleaned that as well. Now it runs like a brand new truck! They only charged $50 to fix. Best $50 ever spent! I believe that if I had taken it anywhere else, they would have just started replacing stuff. Thanks AR!

I have taken my BMW to AR for many years since purchasing it. They even did the pre-sale inspection. I can always count on them to be professional in every way. The work is reliable, well done and comparatively more affordable than a dealer. They stand behind the repair work if there is ever a problem. I have recommended them on several occasions and the referrals have been pleased also with the diagnosis, repair, and cost.

Always had a great experience with AR. Always communicative, great work all at a fair price. I like them so much that they are my goto shop even though I live across town in St Johns, it is worth the drive.
