Extremely rude did not like to work with people please take your scraps somewhere else because these people are very unprofessional other than a lady in the front. The guy that actually weighs the scrap metal seems to be quite irritated with his job and maybe he should’ve found another one he did
Horrible experience took copper in on a Saturday and got #1price for it 2 days later with the same material they slashed prices almost in half per lb and wouldn’t listen to the tester they were using that said 99% and 93%. I had just unloaded 200plus pounds by myself in the heat so they knew I wouldn’t back out. The ticket said number #1 copper also wouldn’t recommend to anyone
Went to the place to drop scrap off they would not let me unload it by hand they used a magnet and dropped a piece of metal on the tailgate and bent it all up to the point it is no longer usable, would not recommend
The guy that usually is at the small scales will cover the screen and lower the price that you're getting for your metals. I called before and after and was told a higher price than I actually got . I would definitely advise anyone to take there business elsewhere like derichebourg , Al's or even absoloot.
This place is great. Been around for decades. Gotta be doin something right lol. Come scrap your metal, make some money, leaving it lying around is just a waste of space. And who knows could make you enough money to go out and do something with the family.
Love this place , any and all scrap metal is welcome and always a fair market value paid out for it . I would highly recommend Standard for all of your metal recycling needs.
Need to fix your hours on google! You posted closed at 4:30 when really you stop doing business at 4:00! At least you were respectful and decent about it! Your neighbors not so much. I’ll be back and way before 4:00!
Well you have a lot of people working that contradict what the first person told you to do so after about 30- 45 minutes and three to four conversations later you finally get to the right place and are able to unload.
Absolutely will not take anything there again. I was told that the only way to get the right price for my copper scraps was to have a large amount of it. They don’t like to deal with the little stuff and 29 pounds wasn’t enough they gave me Romax price at $1.20 a pound for 80% insulated solid wire. That’s ridiculous. Als recycling is more than double that at $2.64per. Plus the staff at Als is much more personable.
Over all, they were fair in regards to buying my scrap metal. There are no clear instructions for where to go once on the property. The young man running the scale on the dock was very polite and helpful. The woman at the cashier window was very rude and not at all helpful!
The employees here are very wonderful and helpful. Every time that I go in there they are very helpful when making sure I buy the right product for my project. Samuel is the one who usually helps me every time that I come in. I would definitely recommend them to family and friends.
This place is the best in the biz!!! I heard they helped with the movie twister!!! Best customer service I’ve ever had... Samuel Powell Sr... your my hero!!!

I have been a loyal costumer for over 19 years. For many years it was a pleasure to deal with them. It was exciting to see how much i would make off my scrap and also to see what metals i could buy. But the last few time i have been in there it has not been the same. It is anxiety provoking and very uncomfortable they have guy now that is a Metal Nazi. I went in a few days ago and he almost got in a fight with a another costumer it was very uncomfortable to see some one behave that way with a costumer. I then went in to get payed after dumping my metal and he was nitpicking an employee on where he was storing paperwork.
A few day later a go in to sell some stainless steel and some copper and he told me that my stainless was just steel because a magnet stuck to it. I told him that a magnet would stick to stainless steel because stainless is about 90% steel and 10% chromium. I then said i would take out whatever he thought was steel and he told me to pack up all my metal and leave. I have never been thrown out of anyplace in my life that is not how you treat customers. I don't know what is going on there if they are trying to run off the little guy or what?
I feel sorry for the other employees there to have to put up with him and the possibility that he could ruin there business and many people could loose there jobs because of one person.
The person i feel the sorriest is for is the metal Nazi. I wonder what is going on in his life that he has to treat people so badly? I am very sad when i think about that. It also make me sad to think he could run there business into to ground. I have seen it before that people like that can ruin the lives of many other people because he destroys the reputation of what was once a great business to deal with.
I will probably never go back!!!!
Not a single one of the people working offered to help my father, who is older, unload a good amount of steel. Not like they were busy either- they literally sat there and watched him struggle. Avoid.
I will never use this place again. This is coming from multiple bad experiences with this place and not just one unsatisfactory time.
They treat you like they are the only steel yard in Okc and act like you need to tell them thank you for them letting you be their customer.
On top of all this... they are the highest priced steel yard in Okc. If you dont think so then just call around first before going and you will see for yourself.
Use Google and easily find other options in the area.
Luxuriant beard guy at small scale, is really really polite and helpful compared with other scrap yard guy. I go this place because I like his customer service. Guy at large scale is also polite and kind. Great customer service. However, their price for large scale or small scale is lower than Al's. I always sell my scrap metal at Standard Iron, because I feel satisfied with their service. Was close to closing time Monday,, Feb. 5, 2017, very unkempt bearded younger guy was rude and would not allow me to go look at metal. He said they were closed but gates and doors were all open. Asked if he would just give me 5 minutes. He said no, he's off the clock. Clearly that buisness would not love to have my $4,000 order like the other business did. Do not recommend.
Was told that they are looking for large consumers. They don't want to deal with the little people. Very rude customer service. Go to Metal Check for better prices and who welcome little people.
I was given a price over the phone when I arrived they offered less than half of what they told me. Then I told the buyer I was given a different quote and he said it wasn't him I spoke to, i asked to take my scrap back and he then snatched the ticket out of my hand and said good luck finding someone who pays better.. by the way I did. I recommend "Recyclers of Main" on sw 5th St. Honest people and great service, they weighed 14lbs while Standard Iron only weighed 9lbs? Their scale needs to be calibrated. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Would give NO STARS if i could. Guy was very rude right from the beginning. All i wanted was 2 purchase some pieces of copper and he was very rude then he was trying to say his scale was saying -1 pound with nothing on it and it was really +1 pound. Always trying 2 rip ppl off!!! BE WARNED!!!
Being a metal artisit, this place is cool. The only thing is finding a way to fit what I need in my truck. I hope I can use my own coping saw to size down the stock this would help if I can use my own tools because the will now do it for me.
always had good and fair service. thier prices have always been per hundred pounds. nobody pays by the pound. I take all my home and work scrap metal there.
