I had to give one star because there isn't a way to give negative stars!! DO NOT take your car here unless you just need it out of your drive. John had my Traverse for 3 MONTHS!! AND DID NOTHING!! He claimed that the timing chain was bad and in order to replace that a new engine would be needed. The cost, $8100! Well, we told him to go ahead and get the new engine and repair it and offered a deposit. He didn't take the deposit and still did nothing. Going into month 3, I called him, my husband called him..no return calls. Until I showed up at his shop, which I had to do twice because he wouldn't return his phone calls. He tried to sell me other, more HORRIFIC, vehicles instead of just fixing ours. After giving him a final two weeks to fix the car (he said the new engine was ordered, but across town in storage), he said he would get to it, although he had a lot of cars ahead of ours...he hadn't TOUCHED ours! The car sat exactly where it originally was put when we towed it to him. He had also mentioned in the beginning he had run a compression test on the vehicle to be sure it was the timing belt issue. My last encounter with him was when I showed up to his shop, door locked (before closing time) and he was on the side of the building. He approached me, I questioned why it wasn't at least started and he claimed "I'm just busy, take it elsewhere if you need to". So we did!! Two days later at another mechanic, we found out NOTHING WAS WRONG with the car at all. Why it wouldn't start in the begining, we don't know. However, the new mechanic said there was clear evidence that no compression test was done prior to this appt w/ new mechanic. When he performed the test, everything came back fine. We talked to some locals about John Savel's garage and they said he is only good to get an oil change and maybe change tires, other than that, STAY AWAY!! He has a reputation for taking in cars and not fixing them! So the moral of this story, DO NOT TRUST JOHN SAVEL to repair your vehicle!!!
Was thinking of buying a vehicle, called 30 minutes before closing, John and Mike took a look and explained their concerns and opinions. Left with the answer I needed, thanks to them.
Great service and honest too! John has been so helpful and patient. Couldn't ask for a better business to have in Wellington. Nothing but great things to say about John and Savels!
The owner of the business treated me with little to no respect. I told him the issue with my vehicle and it felt like he wanted to get me out of shop instead of hearing about my concerns. Now, and I voiced this on a phone call earlier, that his communication needs improvement. He told me he would call me soon after I dropped off my jeep. That never happened. I called about 3:15pm and left a message. Never returned my call. Communication is key, especially with customers. When my parents went to pick up my jeep, another worker told them that they replaced two hoses, but when I called today, I was told no hoses or anything was replaced. Communicate with your employees. It is not that hard. Also, learn to let your customers speak. I am not a mechanic, my knowledge on vehicles is limited, but hear my concerns. I would not recommend this shop.
I did mechanic work in my younger life and John is a mechanic not a parts changer, he care about customers and will go above the call of duty to help them out.
Most people would complain they would have to have an appointment to have their car fixed. Question is do you want it done right, the repair is affordable and do you want to deal professionals who are friendly? That's exactly what I got with Savel's. They are busy for a reason and they will always have my business.
Do yourself a favor and go here first. They have made the car maintenance and repair process so much less frustrating with their honest and fair attitudes. Have done a few visits with them including their uhaul and has been a great experience every time.
