Personalmente lo visito por esparcimiento y relajación. Ahorita en Otoño está menos concurrido que en verano.
El río está cristalino y limpido y el colorido espectacular.
La vida ?ahí, es otro tema.
Gorgeous views. I hate that some one vandalized the rocks there. They take away from the beauty. It is a little busy but the few times I've been people are always courteous and let you have some space to look too! The pictures I took just does not do it justice.
If you're interested in seeing the Brown Mountain Lights, this is not nearly as good as Wisemans View. There is far too much vegetation to see through or around that blocks some of the visibility to important areas that the Lights would be visible at. It's far too close to the road and car lights are frequently ruining your night vision.
Just go to Wisemans View if you hope to see the Brown Mountain Lights... Trust me. I'm a repeat visitor who's seen the lights on two of the three times I've gone... (AND THEY'RE REAL!) I've read quite a bit about this & seen a few documentaries. From what I've learned, one of those sightings would be considered a highest level siteing BUT you've got to go to Wiseman view to have a chance to see that!
The Brown Mountain Lights are a series of ghost lights reported near Brown Mountain in North Carolina. The lights can be seen from the Blue Ridge Parkway at mile posts 310 and 301 and from the Brown Mountain Overlook on NC Highway 181 between Morganton, NC and Linville, NC.
Truely, this is an area that God visits on a regular basis.
This is just a wonderful place to bring the family for a day enjoying the spectacular views and the clear- clean river.
Be sure to bring a picnic basket with you, this isn't some place that has stores every few miles, if you Don't being it- you won't have it.
I've been there many times as a child & into my teens with our Church youth.we were never disappointed we always saw the lights except the one occasion when it was too foggy but that's been 45 years ago or longer haha so I didn't know how they're doing now but they were amazing and the stories that go with them I even have the record of the story of the slave that was looking for his master and he walks through the mountains carrying a lamp. My Cherokee grandmother used to say it was a place where angels would rest while visiting us between going back and forth Between Heaven and on Earth haha whatever it's an act of God he knows what it is let the mystery go it's special
