Cool place to stop and check out when driving the parkway. Took a few minutes out of my drive just to stop and pause

Beautiful overlook on the blue ridge looking east. The namesake has to do with the forest at the foot of this overlook. There is a museum and walking trail there to learn more about it more if desired. But the overlook has a sign describing briefly what it is

Great place to take a break and soak in the views! We stopped here after a hike to eat our sandwiches. There is no picnic area, but we made it work by sitting in the back of the SUV with the trunk open. It was super quiet, peaceful, and relaxing. A nice amount of parking made it an easy stop, and the overlook was a beautiful reward after some trail time. Perfect little spot to unwind and recharge.

One of many great overlooks on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Definitely a good place to stop, stretch your feet and get some good views of the mountains.

Pleasant scenic point with good parking and it looks very well kept. Worth the stop. Definitely come here if you are into great scenery.

An amazing view after climbing up winding roads through the forest to turn onto the blur ridge parkway and this is the first thing you see. I can't imagine anything more incredible than this sight!

Phenomenal views and (like the other overlooks) an easy stopover when driving. This park is amazing to see, and this overlook (or any on this road including the frying pan mountain look out tower) really do have superb views. It’s about a 2 hour drive from Knoxville and around 1h30 ish to Spartanburg so you can easily spend the day in the mountains! Would recommend!

Even when the Blue Ridge Parkway is closed, this overlook is accessible by a manageable 1-mile walk. But if you keep leaving it open and head elsewhere, it’ll be just as quiet and still as ever. ??✨
