Amazing view of Looking Glass Rock. Also the entrance to the trail for Skinny Dip Falls trailhead. Parking is usually packed unless you go early in the morning or late in the day.
Great views one of my family and I favorite spots. Right across the street take a short hike to skint dip falls with pools of cool mountain water plenty of room and hardly crowded. The hike is a little over a mile so be prepared but it's not to difficult for a child to follow and enjoy the falls. Fun for the whole family! Get out there nature heals you!
Nice fall, but a bit overrated and always pretty crowded with little parking space (aside the road). You can descend stairs and there are some sitting area's at the bottom. No swimming there.
Came up from swiming in Davidson River and hiking at Pink Beds trail, is so great to come on up to the Parkway and see great views of our Beautiful WNC, Northern S.C & Tennessee Moutains-Forests:)
Great spot on the blue ridge parkway to grab lunch, checkout an awesome view of Looking Glass Rock and hike skinny dip falls. Note, as of June 2022, skinny dip falls has been heavily impacted by flooding, rearranging the swimming hole and washing out the main bridge - not as easily accessible for swimming as it used to be
The view was spectacular and just across the street is a hiking trail that leads to Skinny Dip Falls. It's a moderate hike about 35 minutes (give or take) to the falls.
Beautiful overlook and very light hike from the parking area off the blue ridge parkway
Secluded overlook that won't be as crowded as most of the overlooks directly on the blue ridge parkway. John's Rock mile 419 or 420 on the parkway is where the parking for this overlook is and the hike is roughly 0.5-0.9 mile from the parking area
How do you rate a scenic overlook? The view is beautiful. The rock formation is fascinating. Negative? They should have placed the formation closer to the road. Just kidding. Its beautiful and intriguing. Stop at this overlook. It offers more than vistas and seasonal leaf changes.
