They were not transparent about their mistake of not ordering the parts. The idea that I had an early morning appointment(4th) and not to receive a answer on the problem until late in the day is unfortunate. That meant the car would not be ready that day(replace 2 radiator hoses about a 40min job) Then not to order the hoses and if I had not called to ask..... I told them to give me my car back. So they charged me $175.00 for about 20 mins of looking and 2 pictures that did not even show the so called problem! No apology but they were very dismissive of me, I guess that for not being a local even thought I have been down here for 65 years! I have been monitoring the so called problem and it doesn't even seem to be that bad. So the question is did the work need to be done or maybe a just a new hose clamp! Hmmm will not be visiting them again. and will paste this on Google maps for the next person who might be in trouble!
I was driving from my daughter's home in KDH on my way back to Winston-Salem when my low tire pressure light came on driving across the bridge. I google mapped and found Lighthouse Automotive and drove there to ask if someone would check my tires. The two people at the counter said absolutely they could and one of them started to get up, but a gentleman came from the office area and said he would take care of it. My tires were checked and all was well. I offered to pay for this person's time and effort but he shook his head and wished me a safe drive and happy holidays.
This sort of friendly customer service is very much appreciated. I was clearly from out of town and leaving which meant that I would not be a regular customer. However, I intend to advertise that Lighthouse Automotive is a good place to do business. They gave me immediate attention and did so efficiently and cheerfully.

We’ve been taking our cars to Lighthouse for several years now. Primarily for state inspections and small needs. Each time we contact them they are are incredibly friendly, welcoming and easy to work with. Luckily, we’ve never had an issue getting a date for any services within the timeframe we needed.
Further, meeting everyone in person when we take our cars in, they are just as nice as they were on the phone and never pressure for anything additional. They share what they know, anything they might find, but never push that is so refreshing.
As always we are treated with fast courteous professional service...the reason I come here is there honesty...so many times I have been told by other vendors especially dealerships that I needed something done that I didnt...search no more..these folks are honest

I hope this message finds you well. I recently had an issue with my vehicle's air conditioning system. I brought it in on a Saturday for diagnosis, and it was determined that there was a hole in the hose. The part was ordered and installed on Monday morning, and I am pleased to say that the work was completed in a timely manner.
However, upon receiving the bill, I was taken back by the charges. I was billed $666 for labor and $713 for the part. Considering the hose was not expedited and could have been purchased for under a hundred dollars if I had picked it up myself, this seems quite excessive. While I understand that there are overheads and service charges, the final amount was rather shocking.
I wanted to share this feedback with you directly instead of posting a negative review online. I believe it's important to communicate these concerns in hopes of finding a resolution.

Freddy was awesome. Car broke down upon leaving the area for a 3.5 hr drive. He took in the car and diagnosed the problem quickly and was in great contact Also had no problem with keeping the car until I could arrange for the pickup. I haven’t yet picked it up so I can’t report on the repair, but I will when I report back with detailed review after I make my 3.5 hr journey home.
Personable, friendly, great customer service. When I was put on hold, I learned a lot about the company while I waited. Was referred by a friend who is also a customer. I told him today how well I was treated.
Every time I have taken a vehicle to Lighthouse Auto over the last 20 years, I have had great service at a reasonable price and every detail has been addressed. They have grown from a small shop behind their home into two well established extremely professional businesses. Over the years, I have directed many friends to their shop for any auto repairs or service they might need.
I can't thank the honesty of this place enough. Went in thinking I needed an alignment and to change out my tie rod ends and ball joints. Turns out everything is solid under there and just needed to rebalance front two wheels(due to a horrible job via discount tire). Rodes like a dream again. These guys are worth driving an hour or two if that's what ya gotta do for PC of mind and honesty. Communication throughout the whole time was perfect.

I was on vacation in Nags Head last week when my car died in a parking lot. I called 4 other places, only to be told they could not help me. My 5th call was to Lighthouse Automotive...and they were the answer to my prayers! A huge thank you to John, the manager, who personally drove out to me. He got my car running and I followed him back to his shop. Even though they had no appointments available all week, and it was lunch time, John got me in and within 2 hrs my car was fixed. They just could not have been any nicer. Isaiah, who worked on my car, answered all my questions and made sure the job was done right. The girl at the front desk was welcoming, positive and efficient. The price was exactly what it should have been and no extra charges for squeezing me in or driving out to get me. If you live there or just happen to be on vacation and need an automotive shop, I absolutely 100% recommend Lighthouse Automotive.
My wife and I decided to take a 2-day vacay, and, while traveling to OBX from Durham, NC, the tire pressure warning light came on in our 2022 Honda CR-V. I decided to find a mechanic at the next town we came to, which happened to be Manteo. A quick Google search gave us Lighthouse Automotive, so we made our way there. The young lady at the counter, Naomi, was exceptionally friendly and seemed eager to help us. They got the CR-V up on the lift, and, sure enough, there was a huge hole in the passenger-side rear tire (see picture). Isaiah, the mechanic handling the issue, brought me out to the bay to show me the problem, and he was very thorough and informative (he was formerly a technician for Honda!) It's a miracle we didn't have a blowout!
The problem was straightforward: we needed new tires...even though the ones on the car had only 18,500 miles on them :-( So, change of plans: we were staying in Manteo overnight while we waited for the new tires to arrive. The very next morning, Lighthouse had our new tires on the car, and we were back on the road! I can't express enough how grateful my wife and I are to Lighthouse for the courteous and fast service we received! They saved our little vacation to OBX, and, if you're ever in the Manteo area and need automotive service, I can't recommend Lighthouse enough! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

This past weekend on the way to the outerbanks, my car broke down. We were 4 hours away from home and the closest shop that we could push our car to was this one. We managed to get our car there 2 hours before close. Unfortunately our alternator died and the job was clearly going to take more than 2 hours to fix. The team here decided to come in and work on a Saturday to ensure that we had a car to make it home in by Sunday. We could not be more appreciative of the kindness they showed us during what was a very stressful and scary day. The cost to fix was reasonable considering the time restraints. And so far the car is running great! I would recommend this shop to anyone just because we felt we were really being taken care of. Thank you all for the kindness you showed. Thank you for making sure our trip home was safe and stress free. I really cannot express that enough.
I was beyond impressed with lighthouse automotive. My car wouldn't start and I called four other shops. Each told me the soonest they could take my car would be about 10 days. I said I had to leave in 3. I called lighthouse and they got me in the very next day. My car was having tricky hybrid issues and while I'm sure all the mechanics there are wonderful, the owner took the time to work on my car and diagnose issue. Now the part can't come in for days but he was able to get my car running well enough that I could get it back to Maryland. Then he wrote incredibly detailed notes that I was able to give to my mechanic here and he was able to order the part. So I highly recommend lighthouse automotive not only for their incredible customer service but they're incredibly high level of competence.

Lighthouse is great! They check out the entire car. My car was due for tire rotation. The better tread was on the front tires. They explained that with my car the better tires belonged on the front. So no rotation. I have to believe other places would just rotate them.
Isaiah is the man!!!! Dave and Levi kept the communication open and were nice to answer all my questions, even when some were probably quite elementary to them. From start to finish, great experience with them. Didn’t have the best experience with the north location, but the south one made it all worth it. Will be bringing my vehicles to them from now on. Isaiah, you rock!
I dropped my vehicle off because of a brake problem. They fixed it and several other problems and maintenance issues after they gave me an estimate and I gave them permission. It was done quickly and at a reasonable price. I will return for routine maintenance, (oil change, tire rotation, etc), and for other problems but hopefully not too often.
Was on my way to visit my parents in Wanchese over Christmas when the Check Engine light came on just after the Alligator River Bridge and my truck started running oddly. Took it to Lighthouse in Skyco as soon as we arrived and they took it in immediately and ran some diagnostics. They found the problem and had it fixed before the end of the next day! Saw many great reviews about Light House and decided to give them a try. They have a great set up and do an excellent job communicating, i.e., texts updates and photos and they clearly understand customer service. Everyone I had contact with was so professional and friendly. I would highly recommend them.
Lighthouse is my Go To for any service. Knowledgeable and honest, they are totally upfront and know what they are doing. You won't get and bs, they are the real deal. David and team are ones you can trust. I've got a classic Chevy truck and he switched out the carb and corrected what someone else did to the vac lines. Very happy with the results! A+

Fantastic is the only word I can start with. The owner helped me out. There is no place like being out of town and having a mechanical problem. I found them on Google and the reviews are spot on with 5 🌟's. If I could leave 6 Stars I would. I was there at 8am and his shop was open. Standing there I quickly realized his family is a definite part of the fabric of their community. He took the time to listen to my self diagnosis of the issue. Told me to take a drive and use my brakes to heat them up. Yep I had a brake caliper sticking. He gave me a price that was affordable and had one of his mechanics take the Jeep apart and be ready to replace the caliper. I can't say enough about this family run business! I was impressed by the professional honest treatment by the Light family and employees. If you have a mechanical problem while visiting the Outer Banks please give them a call.
