Needed an alternator replaced asap and they were able to get me in same day! Great customer service! Highly Recommend!

My alternator died while on vacation here in OBX on Friday evening and went to autozone to buy a new alternator and looked online for auto repair shops and most places were closed on the weekends and the few that were open were full, but I called Berry’s auto shop and Charles was able to get me in Saturday morning and stayed after hours to make sure the job got done so we can head home on Sunday morning. I am so grateful and blessed I found him! I highly recommend Berry’s they did a great job! I found this note at the register by checkout and wanted to share!

We just love Mr. Berry, he was the 1st person we met when we moved to the island, and we got to see him on our move out! Thanks for all you do Mr. Berry! God Bless!

Charles is a great man. He helped us out of a very difficult situation and SAVED our vacation! Did the work in a timely manner at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend him and this auto repair facility. Give him a try, you won’t be disappointed!

Charles at Berry automotive was kind, honest and quick. We were visiting OBX for a family vacation when my battery light lit up on my dashboard. I made many calls to different autoshops, i had some mechanics laugh say they have no appointments and good luck finding a place that does, or i didnt hear back from them at all. Finally i called Berry automotives who stayed past his closing time to recieve and check my car. He was honest about how long it might take depending on the problem, but said he would do his best to fix it quick. Charles had my car finished the next day, and the cost was very reasonable. I cannot say how appreciative and thankful I am for the honest and hardworking mechanics at Berry automotives. Cannot recommend them enough to locals and to people travelling as well!

Thank you so much Mr Barry for helping us out this morning . We were at alligator river wildlife refuge and cut a tire down well with the little air compressor we were able to limp in to Barry,s auto . Mr barry was very busy but was kind enough to stop what they were doing and fit us in and repair our tire Thank you so much Mr Barry for your kind help and here is a pic if it wasn.t for you I would be sittting on the side of the road like this bear

The best experience! Charles came out on his day off to help us a patch a tire to get us on the road home. Sweet man with a heart to serve and decades of experience!

Such a blessing in an emergency situation. Can not thank them enough for the service to help this out of towner in a tough situation. They even stayed open until I arrived and had me on the road in 30 minutes!

This guy is as honest as they come. As a single woman, I totally trusted him to give me the the best options to repair my automobile. He's simply the best around!!

I was told to call back Friday to make an appointment for Saturday. I called Friday and due to weather I was told to call Saturday morning before driving from Avon to ensure they were going to be open. I called Saturday morning and was told to come in. I made them aware that I was over an hour away and they said that was fine. When I arrived, I was told very rudely that I was late and they would try to fit me in for my inspection. I waited for over an hour just to be ignored and witness the gentlemen go in the back to sit on the phone instead of serving his customer! Please do not go here! I always try to support the locals however this is one I will never support!

Mr. Berry took great care of my vehicle. He was able to get me in same-day when my car wouldn't start. He was able to fix it quickly and for a much better price than I thought was possible. It actually runs better now than it did before having any issues. I will be going to Mr. Berry for my automotive needs as long as I live on the Outer Banks. Its worth the drive to Manteo. Congrats on 51+ years in the business, Mr. Berry!

My alternator started going bad while on vacation in the OBX. I tried two shops that were slammed and couldn’t help me. The guy at Advanced Auto Parts recommended “Mr. Berry’s”, so I drove down there, and he couldn’t promise me anything from a time perspective, but he did say he could look at it that evening. He called me 2 hours later with a fair price and said he’d try to have it ready the next day. He called me at 10:30 the next day that it was ready. I drove back to Delaware today, and all is good. He seems like a great guy and honest businessman. I would highly recommend him!!

Mr Barry is a sweet, sweet man who is HONEST. That in my opinion is the hardest thing to find in a mechanic these days. Get to know him, he's always willing to make things correct!

$30.00 to plug a tire. Never have I ever paid that much. Never again unless Im desperate. I have a plug kit myself but not enough strength to fix it. Next time I will stop someone in the parking lot to help me. Maybe I'm wrong. But Sheeeesh!!!!!

Let me, preface this review with, the mission we (My Love and I) needed to accomplish, was accomplished, and the gentleman that helped us, certainly went out of his way and above and beyond to ensure that happened and at minimal cost; however, the manner in which this was completed, bears a little more discussion. Early this year we returned a U-haul Trailer to Berry's (alternate drop off location). As soon as we walked in and were being helped, "My Love" was explaining our situation (alternate drop off location) and the gentleman was very disrespectful to her and rude. He very deliberately stated "I'm trying to help you, if you quit talking, and don't talk me out of it. Now, are you going to keep talking". She very calmly gave me the look,.."stay calm, let's get this accomplished" and decided she would wait in the truck. She and I are an interracial couple, and while I don't want to believe, this motivated the rude customer service behavior, I suspect it did. 2-stars because at least we accomplished our mission; however, we were very disappointed. It's very sad that even in 2022, we haven't learned the true mantra of the human experience, "Be Love Be Kind"!

I have taken my vehicles to Berry's Automotive for many years, with 100% satisfaction. Charles Berry runs a honest, "down home" kind of business that takes care of the customers.

This place is THE BEST. Mr. Berry is a wonderful, kind older man who I'd trust 100% with any repair. He's been serving Manteo a LONG time and there's a reason for that!

I wouldn't take our vehicles anywhere else unless I had to. We've always been treated right. We have 3 vehicles that he regularly services for us. He is kind, generous and fair.

I was on vacation and he sold me a dry rotted tire which went flat the next day and I had to get AAA to help me out after that. The AAA guy said that the tire should've never been put on the car because it was gonna fail. Pretty disappointed since I gave the guy 20 dollar tip because he expedited the tire change only because he didn't want me to see the junk tire he put on our car. Sad thing is he knew our 9 year old son was with us and in my opinion put my family in danger because what happens if we were on the highway going 65 mph and it blew out?

Stopped in as I needed a tire because the rear passenger tire was in bad shape. Despite closing at noon and me arriving at 5 minutes till, I was willingly and gratefully helped. I new used tire was mounted, balance, installed, torqued with A FRICKING TORQUE WRENCH and we were on our way. Did I mention it was torqued with A FRICKING TORQUE WRENCH! Who does that anymore!?!?! Most people just blast it on with an impact. The time and care was taken to ensure that this tire was bolted on in the corrected pattern and then torqued to spec. Still can't believe it. I think that's half the reason the other tire went bad. It was just blasted on in a circular pattern which lead to uneven wear. If this place was close to home and not 3-4 hours away, I'd be back for sure.

I went to Berry’s Automotive to buy a used tire to put on my car. I called and asked if he’d be able to tell me if he had the size in and he did, so I came in when he told me to. When I got in, I waited for about thirty minutes before he helped me. He had come through and said “give me a minute, I’m gonna call these people and tell them I can’t help them,” and the way he said it seemed like he was implying I was a burden and he couldn’t help them because of me. After my half an hour wait, he finally asked what I was in for (understandable) and he pulled my car into the bay and started his job. He couldn’t get the wheel off. He was using a cordless impact wrench and could not get my wheel off. He brought me into the garage and told me he had “a way” of getting it off but my lug bolts would be my problem because they’d most likely break. He didn’t have any extra lug bolts in his shop so I changed my mind and after that, he essentially kicked me out of his shop. He told me I had wasted his time, and made me back my car out of the bay. Right next to the sign that says insurance doesn’t allow customers in the garage... I went to another garage to get my issue sorted (Mannkaniks) and they were able to get my wheel off without an issue. All they had to do was use an impact wrench with a cord. Berry couldn’t even achieve that level of sophistication. I grew up with his grand daughter and his manner toward me was appalling. I definitely do not recommend using Berry’s Automotive.

Mr Berry has always treated me with respect and fairness. He has been working on my car for about six years. It is an oldcar but he has never backed down from the challenge of fixing an older vehicle. I trust him because he is honest. He is always respectful. Lets not forget Fred the mechanic he is very knowledgeable and personable. Thanks guys I appreciate you.

Very good service. They took the extra time to get the correct part for my van instead of 'what came in the box' which was incorrectly marked. Had that not taken that extra step for me my car would have broken down almost immediately and the problems would have escalated.

Just picked up my uhaul auto transport from Berry's. Super friendly, and even hooked up the trailer for me! Can't beat that. Helped make a bad situation (broken down car) a little more bearable.

This business charges a ridiculous amount of money for its services. Last year I came in to see if there was an electrical shortage in my car and it cost me $70 just for them to hook it up the the computer. This year I got a synthetic oil change for $80. The owner also talked down to all of my female friends and either asked to speak to their father or a man in general. Extremely overpriced services and an extremely sexist and rude boss.

If you are in need of a Mechanic don't go to Berrys. When I took my car in he talked down to me like I was stupid. Then when he called me to tell me what was wrong with my car, receded to ask if my dad or another man was around so he could talk to him about the issue. Then charged me 2x the amount that he originally told me it would coast. He finished the transaction with saying "You're not understanding me, you must have been the girl half asleep on the phone this morning." So ladies, save yourself the trouble and don't give him your business. I have had multiple female friends who have had the same experience. My good friend who, is dad has been a mechanic for 40+ years also had trouble with him talking down to him. He's really just the worst. If I could, I would give him 0 stars

Called to ask specifics about dropping off a one way U-haul my husband and I rented. While I politely asked questions, this man begrudgingly answered my questions with disdain after long periods of silence. The topper was when he ended our conversation by saying "Why don't you just stay out of the middle of it and let your husband handle it!" I feel awful after this telephone call and do not recommend women using this business - I also think if you are a decent man you should avoid any business with someone who would treat another person in this manner.
