What clients say about Northrop Antiques Mall in Southport (NC)

We really enjoyed visiting the Northrop Antiques Mall. There are so many unique items to choose from...the selection is truly endless. My husband was very happy to peruse through the antique tools while I sought out small gifts for family and friends (and even myself). The staff at the front are very welcoming and inviting. We will most certainly return on our next visit to Southport.

Had an issue with an item I purchased and Mindi graciously worked with me back and forth to fix the issue and make it right. Will certainly be back when I’m back down in the area!

Bought a diamond band i absolutely didn't need but of course had to have. The price was great and the entire experience with all of the staff was even better. 100% will be back to seek for treasures i don't need. Thank you for making my day.

Very friendly staff. Found a beautiful 1800s Catawba Valley double-handled pot in great condition and very fair price here.

Great antique mall. Wide variety and lots of interesting nostalgic treasures. The music was so cool I didn't want to leave. Could spend a few hours here and not see it all.

This place is so fun and cool! So many vintage items to see and purchase, love coming here and seeing what's new.

“Everyone gets ID’d” then proceeded to not ID the person after me. Took a scan of my credit card, felt sketchy can’t recommend. The store on the other side of the road was nice and friendly. Go there if you ask me.

The worst experience I ever had. I was told I could return a ring after having bought so much from their store, probably the most frequent buyer, and used to love the store but after this horrible experience of being treated like a thief and asked to take photocopies of my credit card, I decided to leave. They did not treat their customer like the king, they did not even acknowledge me, and were beyond rude. I am very sad that I ever stepped foot into this store.

I'm not sure if the "official Southport pickle fork" is a joke or not - but they have them! And lots else besides. I love anyplace with an upstairs and there is plenty to look at and it's not junk.

Great place to find something you are looking for from the past. 40 vendors offer you a little bit of everything.

Everytime we have come to this store we have had a great experience. The folks are always super friendly and helpful. There are always unique things to find for great prices.

This place has a lot of interesting finds. It was fun looking at everything but they are a bit pricey. They had a beautiful selection of rings, I just wish they had more variety of amethyst ones but I still managed to find the right one for me. Although, apparently you need an ID to purchase anything in the store??? Got asked for an ID at the cash register even though the only things I had brought up to purchase was a Teddy Bear and a ring… I have never experienced anything like that at all in any other antique mall. I asked the lady why I needed an ID but she didn’t answer me. Literally, the only reason the lady let me go through with my purchase was because I have a tattoo…????

We've been here twice, and to have walked out with armloads of stuff both times. Incredible assortment of vendors, antiques, and slightly more contemporary items. Every time we are in Southport we stop in, and never fail to find something we want.

Pickle forks! It's a Southport thing. Northrop mall is a collection of makers, restorers, and collectors who have spaces to market their talents. It's never the same, there's always something new to see, touch, and buy. It could be a book, a record, a wood plane, an antique golf club; there's something that will interest everyone. The staff are friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is cozy, browsing is at your own pace, or the staff will help you find whatever you're looking for quickly. Parking can be tricky during high tourist season, but there are alternatives to the main street parking and easy access through the alleys and side streets.

I was in here August of 2022 on vacation and was treated horribly by an older man at the register, blatantly telling me to "hurry up" and saying "today ma'am" when a young woman was already in line in front of me, completely disregarding her. If that wasn't enough for me to turn around out the door, I followed through with my purchase when the man accused me of fraud as I was paying with my debit card. He asked for my ID and I happily handed it over to prove that it was indeed my card. He insisted it was not my card because I did not "sign my debit card" despite the names matching up entirely with my ID and debit card. He insisted on not accepting any of my cards. I decided to pay with cash despite the disrespect. Overall I loved the selection of items and that's what led to my return in August 2023, I did not expect to be treated with such disrespect upon my return. As I am ready to pay for my new found treasure the older lady at the register greeted me with such distain. I believe these people are insanely ageist and do not respect or care for the business from the younger generations. I myself work in customer service as well and can understand having bad days but these people are incredibly rude to their customers.

Owners are very personable. Pretty good assortment of items for the size of the building. I think the prices were reasonable. I'll go back next time we are nearby. Check it out.

Two floors of antiques with isles that allow you to move through smoothly. There are some rare items, and with over 40 vendors, you will be sure to find that unique item. Very personable staff. Great man cave booths.

Thank you MRS MINDY and her beautiful mother. I enjoyed the history of this location and the mom and daughter duo was a hit for me. Very nice and interesting items throughout the booths. I travel to many antique locations and the one item I noticed which were the license plates were higher than other places I have been. I wanted to purchase about five of them, but the prices were starting at fourteen all the way up to fifty. It will still be a great option for people to purchase. So don’t let that discourage you. Also a credit card minimum is in effect of ten dollars so be sure to grab as many gems as you want. They will be easy to find! Check out the upstairs area and the bonus upstairs areas.

Great place to shop if you want to be treated as a thief as soon as you walk through the door, I traveled 400 miles via motorcycle for vacation, motorcycle riding gear doesn’t have pockets so the only way for me to shop and carry my wallet and personal belongings is with a back pack I was told to take my back pack off and sit it on the floor as soon as I walked through the door I will not do business with someone who assumes everyone walking in is a thief.

Omgoodness!! This place was a gold-mine of collectibles. It has everything and do not forget to go upstairs. I'll post what I bought later. Mindy was so nice!! The whole place has a great atmosphere.

I haven’t been in a while, but will go out of my way to visit next week now that I know they are holding customers accountable for masks. Also, to the owners (and the entitled, ignorant reviewer who recently left a one star review): IT IS PERFECTLY LEGAL TO REFUSE SERVICE TO THOSE WHO REFUSE TO WEAR A MASK. There is no “medical exemption” that allows you to ignore community health mandates and directly endanger others. Happy the owner stood up for his customers and against selfish ignorance! Can’t wait to buy some goodies next week!

Great store. I did have an unfortunate interaction with the man at the register. I entered the store around noon on Wednesday, July 22nd. I was told I must wear a mask. I replied that I had a medical exemption. I was then told to be sure to keep 6 ft from others. Hmmm, do I need a store clerk to tell me how to practice social distancing? I went about my shopping in the store. As I was paying for items at the register, the man at the register asked me what my medical exemption was. I told him it was against the law to ask me that. He then said to me...you must be either a doctor or a lawyer. Then he continued making remarks about his political opinions. I kept getting the feeling he was baiting me to debate his opinions on the upcoming presidential election. I couldn't get out of there fast enough! What an inapropriate and rude way to treat a customer.

Great selection and prices. I searched all over the area for a specific item and everywhere I found it , the item was way overpriced. When I found it here, I was shocked that it was a third of the price as everywhere else. It also looked like they offering chalk paint classes. Very friendly staff and worth the stop.
