Great store with a big mix of nostalgia, antique, old salvage from historic homes, architectural salvage. I got a wooden carved lion. My wife got a few pieces of eclectic things for home decorating.
A nice & unique store that had a lot of barn finds and vintage items. Fun to look through but the prices were higher than we would want to spend or what other competitors would have the items priced at retail, so we ended up leaving without buying anything. Still a neat store & would recommend checking out if you are in the area.
I try to stop in here every time I'm in the Southport area. I almost always walk out with at least something! Huge collection of quirky items. A lot of reclaimed materials, as well as interesting vintage and used items.
The thrill of discovering one-of-a-kind and rare items is what makes vintage and second-hand shopping so inspiring. Recently, I stumbled upon a pair of lampshades that were a perfect match for the vintage lamps I owned. I knew they had to come with me. The Painted Mermaid is a haven for finding such treasures. I find myself irresistibly drawn to her store, constantly seeking unique items to adorn my home with ❤️
Super cool spot if you are into DIY projects and need pieces or just want some neat antique or vintage items. Owner is very nice and friendly and we enjoyed getting to take a look around.
One of my favorite places to shop in Southport. The owner is a gem! If you are looking for a particular antique there is a good chance she has it. Picked up the cutest table from here for our new house.
Eclectic with Vintage flair housewares, trinkets, jewelry and furniture. Great customer service. Lots to enjoy. Got there with appreciation to vintage house in mind. Homemade jewelry in store.
I struggle with finding comfortable plus size women's clothes until I found this store while on vacation. I was on vacation for a week and in span of one week I went shopping 3 times at this store to get more clothes because the close were so darn comfortable. I have even shopped online from this store and it never disappoints me..
This is by far the best shop hubby and I have ever came by for antiques and shabby chic. Owner very nice. Love love love this place. Prices are amazing. We walked it three times. So awesome. Can't wait to return.

Eclectic & cool 2nd hand & repurposed beachy & bohemian themed decorations, jewelry, hand made soaps, essential oils, original local artisan pieces, (carved mermaids were a little $$$ but cool!) & more. Good prices overall. Worth a few visits to see everything, I'm sure the inventory changes fairly often. Visiting our relatives who live in St James, they know we love these kinds of places. ***
I absolutely love this shop! There are always treasures, small and large, to see! I have discovered the paintings and writings of Jen Purcell there and look forward to further pieces from her as well as continued visits to both Painted Mermaid locations. I hope everyone who visits the Southport area stops by to see the unique gifts, jewelry, art and other collectibles available at the Painted Mermaid.
This is a great little shop to find treasures! You never know what you might find. The staff is always friendly and the owner is such a nice lady. I can't wait to check out her new shop down the road.
