What clients say about Whole Foods Market in New York (NY)

Came here on a Sunday morning to get the shopping done for the week. However, most shelves were still empty and the store was cluttered. There were boxes and dollies everywhere. The labels were pretty misleading as well. They put “low price” on it instead of really going on sale or a discount.
Other than that it’s a pretty good neighborhood shop with a verity of produce and products. I don’t know if they are still local sourced though.Feb 15, 2026 -
If you’re a person of color make sure you grab a cart at all times for your groceries or else you will be profiled. I often go to this Whole Foods with no issue, and often times me as well as other shoppers will bring their own bag put their belongings in there and check them out, rightfully so. On this lovely Saturday afternoon the security team was itching to bust a shoplifter in the act. I’m assuming since we were 2 POC OPENLY putting our groceries in our grocery bag we were the perfect target. I have never seen so many security in the store as I did today, they made sure to give me the true criminal experience. You’d think they were protecting jewels with the way we were being tailed. At the end I was riddled with so much anxiety and anger from this experience that I made sure that the security guard who stood right behind us as we checked out ALL OUR ITEMS could see that they were wasting their time treating us like thief’s that they were most likely missing the real thief’s in action due to their poor racial judgment.

Very small and disorganized location. Barely any signage; ask staff for help and you’re lucky if they even look at you, let alone answer. The only entrance near the Amazon returns station is next to an exit-only pair of doors, you have to wait for the one, tiny, slow elevator to take you there otherwise. Once you’re there the line for returns it moves impossibly slowly (if at all). Sometimes the man behind the desk just ignores the entire line and just stands there sorting various rolls of tape until another employee eventually appears.

One of the worst Whole Foods you'll likely ever shop at. You'll consistently find items that are already expired or things you buy will go bad within days after purchasing. You can never count on something being available since they're frequently low on stock and the lines can often go all the way through the store to the entrance.

The worst Whole Foods in America. The line is ALWAYS an hour long and the employees are incredibly rude. Greg was straight up unkind. Would never go back.

This location is consistently out of stock of basic items, which is odd given that employees are almost always restocking when I’m there. Unfortunately, the bigger issue is the staff attitude. Whether asking where an item is, requesting a quarter pound of turkey at the deli, or needing access to items blocked by restocking carts, the response is often rude or dismissive.
I work in a customer-facing role myself, so I understand job frustration—but this level of rudeness wouldn’t be acceptable in most workplaces. What’s especially telling is that I shop at another Whole Foods near my job and never experience this there. The contrast is noticeable, and this location could really benefit from better customer service oversight. I've been wanting to post for weeks now, but thought it was a one off. It's gotten consistently worse the last couple of months.Dec 28, 2025 -
I had a frustrating checkout experience at this location today. While waiting at self-checkout, a staff member instructed customers to move to the staffed register line. I followed the direction, but only three registers were open, resulting in a roughly 30-minute wait, while the self-checkout line moved much faster.
Because I followed a staff directive, the delay was avoidable and caused me to return late from my work break. This felt like poor line management for a busy store during peak afternoon hours.
When I later called the store to raise the issue, the response was extremely unprofessional. I was told to consider that staff are understaffed and underpaid during the holidays and that I could have made my own choice about which line to stand in, despite having been explicitly directed by an employee. That response deflected responsibility rather than addressing the issue.
I usually have good experiences at Whole Foods, but both the checkout handling and follow-up response were disappointing.Dec 26, 2025 -
Good variety of fresh fruits, vegetables and salad. Good offer of cheeses and bread-and seafood.
Yet if you are lazy to cook, also cooked food and salads. Quite convenient to have all groceries together.
Only setback is shelves are not easy to find and there was no map to guide you.
Staff are helpful and polite but they look seemingly tired.Dec 24, 2025 -
I went in there two days ago and I wasn’t going to say anything but it’s still bothering me. So I went in there with my daughter because I’m trying to eat clean again and unfortunately I’m from uptown and there isn’t that much of a selection of clean food. I didn’t feel like going to 125th st, even though it’s much closer to my house. The customers and the employees made me and my child feel so uncomfortable that I left the cart in the middle of my shopping and walked out. We were being treated like we weren’t suppose to be in there, like our presence was bothering them. It’s still bothering me and I’m even thinking about taking it to Tik Tok. Please, if you’re a person of color ( I’m Hispanic) DO NOT go in there. The racism is at an all time high. It was a truly hurtful, disgusting experience for my child and I.

One f my guilty pleasure food shopper's experience. Fresh produce, clean bathrooms, salad and hot bar options. Always friendly staff. Omg and the fresh pizza

I like this WF in general and I like to shop there every week. However, the lady who works in Costumer Service is always so rude to me… I don’t understand why. It’s truly unpleasant to be treated this bad, especially when I’m always nice and polite to everyone.

I want to give a huge shout-out to Sarjo in the bakery department! Her customer service was absolutely incredible. She was so sweet, patient, and genuinely went above and beyond to help me pick out the perfect cake for my brother’s birthday. You can tell she’s a hard worker who truly cares about her customers.
Thank you, Sarjo, for making the experience so easy and enjoyable. Whole Foods is lucky to have someone like you on their team!Nov 12, 2025 -
Consistently unhelpful staff and customer service. Once had 10 items in the check out then grabbed two little chocolates while waiting in the line. After a 10 minute wait, they refused to take me and forced me to leave the items behind or get into another, even longer line. Another time was carrying a handful of food and items fell out of my hands. I asked a stock person to help me find a basket. They told me to go to another floor to get one myself. Place is a maze and you can never find anything.

This location is so tiny compared to the one in yonkers. I hardly found my usual items and I truly dislike the floor plan. It make it hard to move through traffic when the store gets crowded.

Worst WF in NYC. I call it Hell Foods. Dirty, poorly stocked, impossible to get a cart around all of the boxes, people, etc., because of the awful design. Checkout is a special hell, with never enough cashiers and not enough room for shoppers to navigate this area. I noticed the bulk section is gone, most likely due to the disgusting state of that section. This location should be shut down and the store should be moved to a better space with a better layout. It serves the entire UES and it's just too small, dirty, difficult to navigate, inefficient and always a depressing experience. I give it zero stars but I have to give it one to post this comment. Uesiders deserve better!

The worst ever experience not in Whole Food but ii our life. As we were checking out almost at last item the costumer next to us broke down in floor with loud noice a glass bottle . We were scary first because the glasses spread all over. Just as we were making sure to pay the next cashier , her name on tag was Monica ,without excusing or asking if we can move over , with the worst attitude and a rudeness ,with a manner of insulting said:
Move over don’t block my space !
As we told her we can’t because is plenty with glasses and slippery and we ready to leave she continue;
I don’t care just move move … And continue to be more aggressive until we ask her for name and took the picture of the floor….
Everything is on camera and we want to be open and check this case because we don’t feel comfortable to shop in our favorite place Whole Food..Oct 11, 2025 -
Factor is a meal delivery service that specializes in fully prepared, chef-crafted meals designed to be both convenient and nutritious. Unlike meal kits that require cooking, Factor meals come ready to heat and eat in just a few minutes, making them a good fit for busy lifestyles.
Pros:
• Convenience: Meals are pre-cooked and only need a quick microwave or oven heat-up. Perfect for people with tight schedules.
• Nutrition-focused: Factor emphasizes health-conscious meals, offering keto, low-carb, high-protein, vegetarian, and vegan options.
• Taste & quality: The meals are generally fresh and flavorful compared to frozen or processed alternatives. Many reviewers say the proteins (like chicken and salmon) are tender and well-seasoned.
• Dietitian support: Subscribers get access to nutrition coaching, which is a nice bonus for those trying to stick to specific goals.
• Variety: Weekly rotating menus with 30+ meals to choose from help avoid repetition.
Cons:
• Price: Factor is on the expensive side, averaging around $11–$13 per meal, which can add up compared to cooking at home.
• Portion size: While portions are balanced, some people with bigger appetites find them a bit small.
• Packaging waste: Meals arrive in a lot of plastic packaging, which may not appeal to environmentally conscious customers.
• Flavor variety: While meals are tasty, some users report that the seasoning style across dishes feels repetitive after several weeks.
Best For:
• Busy professionals, students, or families who don’t have time to cook.
• People following specific diets (keto, high-protein, calorie-conscious).
• Those who want fresh (not frozen) prepared meals that don’t compromise on nutrition.
Not Ideal For:
• Budget-conscious eaters.
• People who enjoy cooking at home or want larger, restaurant-style portions.
Final Verdict:
Factor meals are a great choice if you want fresh, healthy, and convenient food without the hassle of cooking. They’re especially helpful if you’re trying to stick to a diet plan or need portion-controlled meals. The biggest trade-offs are cost and packaging, but for many, the time saved is worth it.Sep 22, 2025 -
The worst Whole Foods in all of NYC. So poorly merchandised, odd selection and/or often with empty shelves, and the check out is the most inefficient and infuriating set up ever. I can’t stress enough how much I despise this store layout.

This Whole Foods has excellent customer service. They helped me carry my heavy cases of glass water bottles all the way to my car and loaded it up for me. The pizza station is also very good. I ordered a mushroom pizza and he made it so well - and gave me hot honey to put on top of it. Overall I’m really happy with the store.

I love whe my wife cooking my organic egg with tomatitos and this is where we get them.
For healthy food and really good drinks and cake whole foods is one of my favorite places.Jul 30, 2025 -
I’ve shopped here many times but on several occasions I’ve been overcharged at the counter. When I asked why the woman at the express checkout simply insisted that the price was correct.
Today for example there was a clear offer: 4 avocados for $5 for Prime members. I scanned my Prime QR code at checkout yet she charged me $9.96. When I showed her a photo of the price tag she just shrugged and said she had no idea about it. Very disappointing experience being overcharged repeatedly and met with indifference.Jul 22, 2025 -
This store stocks most items found at other whole food stores. Impressively large with two floors, and an extensive assortment of most whole food items.
The seafood department staff often have poor attitudes when customers ask questions & do not appear willing to assist, but their seafood is fresh most of the time and they have fair prices (avoid the Cod, it has been spoiled on several occasions). Sockeye salmon is often on sale for prime members, & they even have a grab-and-go section for pre packaged fresh seafood.
Produce department often lags behind some of the other whole food stores when it comes to variety of fresh greens, with boxed kale & spinach often having "sweat" along the container edges as a result of poor storage, but they have competitive prices on organic produce.
Fresh Kale is often "sold out" and staff aren't too helpful, often responding impatiently when customers inquire.
I have visited this location over 100 times & have never seen a manager or friendly staff offering assistance anywhere on the store floor, not to mention many of the cashiers exhibit poor social skills & are often rude. It has been quite disappointing to me.
The cosmetics & skin care department has an impressively large selection of products, far beyond (perhaps 2-3 times) what I have found at other whole food locations.
I often buy probiotics & prefer refrigerated varieties for specific strains. This particular store stocks more variety than most health-food stores.
Protein powders are lacking & they only have the bare basics.
Overall this is a very large Whole Foods with an impressively assortment of products.
I shop here weekly and am mostly satisfied,
aside for some dissatisfaction in management & service since a change in Whole Foods ownership.Apr 30, 2025 -
We’re very excited about the new Whole Foods supermarket that’s opening on Third between 69th & 68th Streets!

From their "cookie bar," displayed against the wall, steps from the entrance, I chose their chocolate topped coconut macaroons and found them to be delicious. I found their blueberry scone to be bland. I tried their dark chocolate almond laced cookie, which I found to be delicious. Its white chocolate version I felt was too sweet. I found refrigerated, near the cookie bar, a plastic cup of Sticky Toffee Pudding (pictured packaged and not packaged) which, when served warm or at room temperature, is delicious.
Their caramel jelly cookie was enjoyable (seen in the third photo from the left.) I also tried their original peanut butter cookie bite (seen in the first photo). It had little flavor other than that of dark chocolate, which made it a disappointment. I tried their rainbow cookie (pictured) which I found to have a unique pleasing flavor. I tried their pecan pie cookie, which I liked. Their shortbread chocolate chip cookie was good. I did not like their peanut butter/chocolate chip cookie. The peanut butter flavor was difficult to taste and the chocolate chips were not among the best that I have ever tasted. The thickly covered chocolate pretzel has a very nice chocolate flavor, but it covers up the flavor of the pretzel, seen in the last photo. Their Earl Gray cake found in the refrigerated display near the cookie bar is VERY subtle. The portion of it with a chocolate appearance had no clearly identifiable flavor. The white frosting in the middle and on the top had a mild Earl Gray flavor. I tried their tiramisu dessert from the refrigerated display, which is about 15 seconds away from the main entrance. It was good, but it lacked a bit of recognizable coffee flavor, which it is supposed to have. In addition, I suspect there was lactose in it, which upset my stomach.Jan 01, 2025 -
This store is always wonderfully clean and fully stocked :) I was excited enough to write a review because I tried some of their fresh made sushi the other day.
It was better than 60% of sushi restaurants I’ve been to?!?! I was legitimately surprised at how good it was. That’s all. Just excited about their sushi. Please carry on with your day.Sep 17, 2024 -
There is a wide selection of ready to eat and shelf stable items. While the dining area appears to be clean, the florescent lighting makes it feel like an emergency waiting room.
For non shelf stable (refrigerated section) soups or juice, it would be great to see more ethnic labels, such as those produced by the minority with their own cultural influence.
The lineup can be a pain during the afternoon rush hours. But it's expected.Jul 07, 2023 -
This Whole Foods is really nice! There are lots of local foods to buy! You can even get a Junior’s New York Cheesecake home love this place!

Possibly my favorite whole foods in manhattan. Its got a big single loop layout and its easy to shop. It gets busy enough around 6pm that i avoid going here, and checkout is a big winding and congested, but its big and clean and smartly deSigned.

Great place for all your grocery needs! Awesome staff and well stocked inventory, unless it's a major holiday, which means you have to get there at least 3-days prior!
