Completely disgusted to see this “racist shelf” at this store. This is a hateful and terrible way to depict black and non-white people. There’s no reason this shelf should even exist in the store and the nerve to name it that. This is not only triggering but also makes me feel unwelcomed/unsafe.
Why does "The Racist Shelf" exist? There is nothing funny, quirky, or kitschy about racist imagery and figurines. To profit off of that while acknowledging how racist it is, is gross. It's my first time in this town and how off-putting. Not a warm welcome for any Black or non-white people.
Small shop with a variety of stuff.... nobody was in there for quite a while, started to wonder if anyone worked there... we were just about to leave and the owner walked in.
It's a nice collect of items, each section is small so some old art supplies, some art pieces, knickknacks but I just struggled to find anything that I could actually see myself getting because it was limited
The lady was so so kind when we walked in asking for a zip tie for a car issue. She was so sweet and even gave us recommendations for what to do in the area. The store had a large variety of stuff and I wish I had more time to look around.
In the area for a family trip and stopped by. I wasn’t looking for anything, but saw my trip to Catskill as a chance to learn a little about the area. I dropped in and spent an hour looking at the unique collection of items and visiting with the proprietor. I had the best time. Well worth the visit!
