I had my truck inspected here. Shortly after (within less then 50 miles) I had 2 ball joints fail causing close to 10k (+ or - )in damage. While Monroe after dealing with a few nasty people did pay to fix my truck and put me in a rental nothing was done about the value of my truck. Its now worth around 10k less then trucks with similar low mileage for the year. And after the last talks with them. I have no chance at recouping that value without paying for a lawyer that would cost about the same. That being said I would suggest going to another shop in saranac lake. While more expensive upfront you will save in the long run.
The guys at the shop are awesome as always! Unfortunately the new call center is a huge pain, it turned a 2 minute call into a 10 minute call. The call center person tried quoting me for a price for a new battery without even finding out the make and model of the car. On top of that they are scheduling appointments too close without knowing what kind of manpower is available in the shop. Get rid of the call center and keep one more job local, somebody at the location who knows the schedule and the repeat customer and their vehicles. You can't run a garage like booking.com.
Dropped car off unannounced and asked for a nys inspection,oil change, and tire rotation. The garage appeared to be very busy but they told us they would get to it as soon as possible.It had not been even two hours when they called and said it was all done. This has always been our experience with Don. No hassle, good price and always happy with the work .
Came in to get my car inspected, after buying a new car. Very professional and friendly. In addition to the inspection, they affixed my registration sticker and put the plates on the car. Great service - I’ll go back when the car needs future servicing.
Polite, got an appointment soon, pleasant treatment by staff. Went for state inspection. Also willing to tighten lug nuts on other car even though they didn’t do that job.
I'm from out of town but they fit me in the same day for a tire issue. Staff was helpful and the work they did ensured I would have an uneventful trip back home!
I was having trouble finding a garage to do my car inspection quickly and they accommodated me. Kind, quick, efficient and professional. All one wants in a a shop. Highly recommend
I went for a simple oil change since they could get me in quick. Immediately after leaving I got a text from a Kenny that stated “hey if you wanna save my number for the future I can do work for you cheaper”. I thought this was inappropriate but was going to leave it. But now I have found that my car has been leaking oil so I’m suspicious and disgusted enough to leave a review. When I called the more trusted local shop I’ve used to have this looked at, I asked for other shop options because they couldn’t get me in until a ways out(why I went to monro in the first place). After a couple recommendations they flat out said they did not want to recommend the local Monro. They were not surprised when I told them my situation afterwards.
Absolutely fantastic staff. After a small but kinda serious mishap with my car, they had me repaired and on my way in about 15 minutes. I had no appointment just drove up and explained my situation! Fantastic team! Thank you so much!!
Studs and lug nuts sheared off enroute from PA to Lake Placid. Limped in to this location who looked at the vehicle within 15 minutes, had parts within 30, and had us out the door within an hour at reasonable cost. Both service manager and tech we're welcoming and knowledgeable.
Took our truck here for an oil change and tire rotation and they got me right in and serviced! Communication was important to us after just having the worst experience at Central Auto in lake placid. We live locally and will now be using Monroe as our mechanic! Thank you guys! Appreciate your hard work and honesty.
All I have to say is Don, Kenny and the guys are the absolute best. I’ve gotten to know them over the years and truly are my go to for any vehicle inspection, oil change etc… they’ve got me for life. Over a dozen of my vehicles have been through their doors and all still in good shape
Was visiting my parents from out of state and it wasnt a question which mechanic I would be seeing for my oil change. Theyre quick, with fair pricing, and reliable. However, this past experience wasnt the greatest. After the appointment I realised my hood no longer opens and my car is saying it didnt have the oil changed. Not a great feeling to think that perhaps it was handled roughly or the job wasnt done well. Hopefully I can get another mechanic to fix my hood that is jammed shut.

Visited to check out a check engine light that turned on while on vacation. The guys were able to help within minutes, reset the error, ensured me its minior and did not charge any money. Big thank you and keep it up!
Online scheduling, made appointment for 8:30am oil change, car was on the lift at 8:31am and I was driving home 30 minutes later. No upselling, no "can you come out here for a second, I need to go over some things" bullshit. What a breath of fresh air. Will definitely be back!
I called at 8:30 AM for issues with a couple of my tires. The manager Don explained they were busy, but they’d be able to look at it at 3PM. I brought it at 2:45PM, the tech Aiden came out to look at it, said he’d be able to take care of it. I went for a walk and Don called to say they had it fixed at 3:30PM. Great service experience!!
They were able to get me in earlier because of work, which was great. They took my car in as soon as I arrived, and it only took about 30 minutes.
The unpleasant part was when I got into my car after the service was done, and it reeked of cigarettes. It was disgusting.
I had some issues with my brake lines, and they were all friendly, upfront about the time and the cost, and even were able to get it done earlier than I expected. They also let me stay in the shop for a while I tried to get my ride back home.
As someone new to the area, it’s nice to know there is a reliable mechanic near by.

Very accommodating to fix my flat tire in a matter of minutes after my vehicle was towed there by AAA. I called ahead of time to have it okayed. Would recommend to friend’s & family. Customer Service Representative was professional and personable.
We were visiting from Westchester, NY to the Lake Placid area and sudden found ourselves with low tire pressure on the day we were supposed to drive back - nail in a tire. Called and drove into the shop. The car tire was fixed within 15-20 minutes of us coming. Super fast, HONEST, and reasonable! Definitely recommend for any issue!
Don and his crew had our vehicle repaired in no time. We are from out of town and had an emergency with our Explorer and they were able to get us back on the road in the same day. Truly appreciate his commitment to excellent service. Thanks Don!
I had my calipers “replaced” on January/12/24. Am I supposed to believe these calipers are less 4 months old... After going to Napa with the exact part # on the invoice I’ve found that my calipers were 100% not replaced. No black paint, no boots on bleeder screws, incorrect stamps on calipers. See last photo for proof. They also cross threaded my lug nuts. Had to replace studs. The day I picked up the truck I noticed the calipers still looked rusty but I didn’t say anything in hopes I could trust the mechanics. After removing the tires I noticed the bleeder screws look old. The caliper mounting bracket bolts don’t look like they were ever broke free. There is far too much corrosion on these calipers for them to have been new. It took 2 1/2 days for them to complete this job. My truck came back smelling like cigarettes. I asked for my drums/shoes to be replaced and wasn’t told until picking up the vehicle “that they couldn’t do my drums without breaking anything.”. I paid for a 3 year extended warranty when purchasing the truck. This warranty was supposed to cover brake parts. Bill was almost $1,100, I paid almost $900 out of pocket for a job I could have done myself for less than $500 correctly. Was never given an invoice. Was told it would be emailed to me. They never sent it so I went in person to get a copy myself. They lost my warranty paperwork and all previous receipts from maintenance that I left with them. How do I get help figuring out how this happened, and what will be done about it? I’m not paying for this job twice. I want my money back, or to be referred to a different shop for correction.
This visit was very strange, as for fixing my car they did great but they weren’t very organized, they wrote down the wrong mileage by like 40k miles too much which would have gotten me out of my brakes warranty, after I corrected them they fixed it. They told me one price over the phone, called back asked what price I was told, and then upon picking up my car they added another 200$ out of nowhere. They also didn’t put any brake fluid into my car so I had to come back right after leaving the lot. They usually do great but this time they were super unorganized and sloppy this time. More attention to detail would be great.
